In this tutorial video, we're going to make an online community website. Yes, you're going to be able to have your own Facebook like website. Let's take a look at all the features that you're going to have available to you. First, you're going to be able to have this beautiful activity feed and all these things I'm going to show you are completely optional.
An activity feed, much like you're already used to on Facebook where you can post images, videos, text updates, people can comment back. People can post animated jifs. It's going to be a lot of fun. It's going to be very engaging for your community members. Next, you can create private groups or public groups where members of similar interests can go and communicate and share.
These groups can be private and completely secured, or they can be public. They also have an activity. Feed a private forum where the members of the group can ask questions and reply back, which brings me to user forums. You can have public or private user forums where your members can ask questions and get answers.
Having a user forum on your website is an incredible thing for search engine optimization to generate traffic on your website. Your members can have rich profiles where they can customize their cover image, their avatar image. Information and you can also enable them to be able to connect with other community members.

Brilliant tutorial but the cost of hiring a designer is astronomical. Absolutely love website design and development aspect. I've been using Photoshop for several years now and enjoy the control I have over every single pixel on my website. If you're not confident in doing your own graphic design I think the money would be well spent in taking a course in graphics design. On the other hand there are plenty of RU-vid tutorials.

Yes and there's many graphic creation tools that can maybe make it a little easier. I do strongly believe though if you're not a graphic designer any graphics you make are going to look like they were created by someone that's not a graphic designer.

Hi Adam. Thanks for the great video and other content. I am going to use your links and follow your format to set up a couple of BuddyBoss community sites, before I do, could you tell me if there's any need to use Elementor, or if there is anything else you would or would not do, following the latest Wordpress/Guttenberg updates you mention in your other videos. Also, could I use the new kadence theme rather than the Buddyboos theme, I am still going to pay for the pro version of BuddyBoss because I need the support, but would like my social site to look different from the Buddyboss theme if everyoe else is using that, unless ofcourse, elementor would also allow me to modify the buddyboss theme to look unique As you can see I'm a novice so would be grateful for your thoughts, cheers from the uk.

The technical explanation is great, but the most important issue hasn't been mentioned at all. I am sure that Facebook registered several design and functional patents to protect themselves. This might not be an issue, if the website has limited members, but if the site grows! Aren't there legal issues when copying nearly one-to-one a Facebook website?

Hey Adam, love this, thank you so much! So easy to follow. One question if i may? Is it possible for users to create a paid subscription to their profile? If Person A wants to see the content of Person B's profile, they must pay a small monthly fee? I've looked at dozens of plug-ins and so far can't see a way of doing this :( Any advice would go a long way :)

Great tutorial Adam :) I am new to wordpress and this is by far the best tutorial I have seen. Can you please help me further understand the scope of the plugin relevant to this application? 1. Profile page: Is it possible to customize the profile page? I am looking for something beyond horizontal and vertical placement of options you have shown. I want to have more control over the page and want it look in a certain way. 2. Forums: Can I add more fields in the form, beyond title and content, like a form, for the user to fill before posting? Is it possible to tag people/ Group in the form? Is it possible to have like, downvote options etc in the forum? Can the user have the option to update the details he/she has posted anytime , instead of making it time bound from the time of posting? 3. Is it possible to add subscribe option to any page I want? 4. Can the actual wordings of actions, like 'Post', 'like','Subscribe', and built in pages, like 'Profile','Activity', be changed based on my requirement?

Yes it's a more feature rich theme so it will technically be slower, but thats more of a hosting issue. With proper hosting you will not notice it being slower even though technically it is slower.

I had BuddyBoss but it was a nightmare. Every single time they updated their program or add ons it broke my website. Support would go round and round saying it was my other plugins but in the end it was always an error on their end. I spent so much time troubleshooting their problems I missed deadlines. I got rid of it and used Elementor.

Nice video but I have to say the price they are charging to host a website is cheap yet its a scam. $5.95M but you have to pay for a year in advance & if you want to only have it for a month its $5.95+ $24.95 to setup as in they setting up d site for you smh. I guess this is d trend. What i really wanted to ask was something else but never mind. Thanks.

If you're going to use LearnDash you can use its inbuilt security. If you're not there's lots of membership plug-ins that you can use to protect this.

This is awesome as the business I work for us having lots of issues with Facebook but she is established with Facebook so we have to stay on it for now. I am working on her website but is this an option to add to an existing website with Wordpress? I have Wordpress, generate press and elamentor(I like elamentor better then generate press). I have slack for communication within The groups she works with on different days of the week so they all need to communicate and have been through Facebook. But my goal is to get everything off of fb although just have the business page up. Sorry that’s a couple questions in one

Adam, how did you add your name with the "@" symbol? (adam@wpcrafter.com) It doesn't work when I try to add my nickname in the WordPress settings with the @ symbol (pete@_____.com). It says "Invalid Nickname. Only "a-z", "0-9", "-" and "." are allowed." How did you manage to get around that and promote your self via your nickname?! Please share! 🙌
