Austin, i just wanna say love when you actuslly make the song "live" instead of just showing us the things you did in an already finished song. Please continue ! Thanks for the concent ;)
Just heard of weeknds new song and a week later austin has this tutorial... Wow! Incredible how you keep track with the latest pop releases. Great as always!
I came here to learn how to produce music. (Just started last week). And now I’m leaving with a deep craving to bop to this song. Go ahead and drop it. 🔥
This is so hard cause like… which MJ do you pick? Probably Bad, since it had the most successful singles… but every song is so different! I guess Smooth Criminal or Another Part of Me would kinda be the median vibe but I’d love to see someone try to recreate the sound of Liberian Girl. The MJ tutorial I’d pay to see tho would be from the Invincible album, no one really knows Heartbreaker but it was waaaay ahead of it’s time. Music reviewers at the time couldn’t even understand what they were listening to
@@Jeffmylife I really want to know how he created some sounds of his albums. Like for instance in Rock With You the whistle synth in the beginning or like the kick and drums in Remember The Time that kick slaps so hard. Or like in You Rock My World how that song never fails to bop my head to. Why is that song so addictive. Or like how he made his bass sound so good and groovy. Or like in general I want to know how to add that groove in my music that Michael had.
@@jimmyjay977 when it comes to MJ, after Off the Wall, if he wasn’t paying homage to sounds of the past then he was trying to create the future. Invincible was waaaaay ahead of its time (which made people brush it off as irrelevant). Keep in mind that a ton of the samples used on that album are literally designed from his beatboxing, like… they’re his voice, processed. Auto-tune was fresh on the market and buggy, but there’s a solid chance that synth is just his voice or whistle, highly processed. Heartbreaker is almost entirely his voice and a guitar. Both Darkchild and Riley are actual geniuses lol
@@Jeffmylife yeah I love them both as producers! Dangerous is for me a masterpiece just like invincible is. It makes me sad that his invincible album didn’t get the love it deserved. But that was due a big conflict between MJ and his label Sony. They boycotted Michael’s invincible album to take revenge. I love Butterflies, Heartbreaker, Unbreakable, You Rock My World and Don’t Walk Away from that album. To me all MJ’S albums are perfect and masterpieces. I also love his HIStory album he was so angry in his music and that power and rasp in his voice like They Don’t Really Care About Us, Scream, HIStory and Tabloid Junkie. I also think Little Susie is an overlooked masterpiece of him. Michael was an absolute genius and was one of a kind. I think we will never see anyone like him or in that kind of level of fame.
THANKS! You get a great sound without using too many plug-ins. How effective are mix-bus or master-bus plug-ins in this sound? Could you show us? It would be great! Thanks again.
Austin its ok if this video is 2 or 3 hours.. would love to hear your mixing approach, always feel like you are rushing!! Thanks so much for this vid, lots of love!
i would LOVE something in the style of chloe x halle ‘s “do it” , “ROYL” , or “ungodly hour” i think you would kill it and it would be super helpful or maybe even like early 2000’s britney or beyonce :D
i wonder what would be your take on carpenter brut or perturbator, like darksynth, since there are some other videos out there but they lack your order in assembling whole track together, and i very much like that approach of yours :)
This is super F awesome bro, learning a lot from your videos about making pop instrumentals ( i come from hip hop/trap beats), could you do a tutorial about mixing/leveling instrumentals? for me personally coming from trap beats where the drums and 808s are like really really in the front, hitting super hard, even too hard sometimes, even in official releases, it's a different world for me kind of when it comes to mixing pop beats, especially leveling
For pop, gotta make sure vocals shine up front, kick hits nice, bass is fully and punchy, and then everything else just needs to make a nice, smooth, wide bed for the vocals :D
DUDE YOURE INSANE!! Question though... How come it always sounds like it's boosted when I hear your tutorials? Is there some sort of master that you have on at all times?
I can normally avoid phase issues in the actual arrangement and sound design process, and then masking get's handled with that as well, but with the addition of using EQ to carve space, using panning and stereo effects to create width, and using volume to create height.
Nice work. A Deadmau5 style production would be interesting for the future. In the style of Imaginary Friends or a Deadmau5 show opening style song would be fun. 😀👍
