@@Andrew-kb4xh umm yes I was buddy. Relativity Records - then owned by Sony signed the same time as Common Sense who you now know as Common, and Chi Ali - my single made the billboard club charts - was number 1 song on the west coast club charts for three weeks - opened for Snap throughout their US tour. Label dropped me after one year - locked my album up - never got released.
@@raizereaper4697 Nah just stayed in NY. It was an epicenter for rap music back in the day. Got to regularly chill with Red Alert and Biz Markie - met a lot of unsigned rappers before they got signed - Fat Joe, Pun, once had a freestyle battle against ODB before Wutang blew up at the Kiss FM lobby. He gave me a first edition white label copy of protect your neck with a sharpie drawing of the wutang logo on it - two years before they got on mainstream radio. Did a few promos for Red who played my promos ever show as he was trying to help us stay relevant “Red Alert is a Bum” etc but at that point my group broke up and I focused on my education and a career.
This is insane. Never seen anyone make music this way. I have produced for 11 years, and you're just on a different level. So inspiring. I just started singing on my own tracks, but never paid really attention to vocal processing. Your in-depth explanation, was exactly what I needed to hear
Omg. As a beginner I'm mindblown by all the layering, sound design and options presented. His songs sounds so easy to make but when I try I get stuck. This tutorial was helpful. I Love the song.
honestly Austin is the best. i cant imagine this guy thinking: - i wanna show my skills to the world, everyone can be a better producer. heart of gold.
He makes it look so easy, could watch all these videos all day. Great for learning music production and one of the best channels to watch. How about looking at some old school pop from when Brittney Spears, Taylor Swift, Christina first come on the scene and also some British artists such as Sam Smith, Craig David, Olly Murs as some examples.
@@vestarecords3882 I need to confirm that. kvde did a good job but Austins version has much more power, it's simply FAT. I wonder why kvde didn't manage it like that.
MAN , I WANTED TO SEE HOW YOU RECORDED THE VOCALS TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF HOW IT WAS VS HOW IT SHOULD TURN TO , if you can SHOW SOMEHOW PLEAAAASE !
Holy cow man, this is absolutely incredible! You are super fluent in Serum, the song is outstanding, and I was in disbelief by the amazing vocals, you are a true talent man, I’m glad I came across your channel, keep at it! Only thing I wish is it was in ProTools or Logic, but regardless the layering and concepts are the same no matter the DAW. I’ve never heard of Serum before. But you got it down!
Your balance between creativity and workflow is amazing. You never get in your own way. Thank you for this video. I love seeing peoples thought process when they write. Especially from someone like you that can also explain it!!!
Mind blown. Thanks man. This is exactly what I needed to see. Subscribed about 2 minutes in. Great song btw. Whatever you're doing, I hope they're paying you well.
Awesome. I love this channel so much. I’ve been getting really into music production lately and these tutorials have been so helpful to me. Keep up the great work 💕
I love how Austin just lays down a bassline and chord progression in .5 seconds where that would take me 3 hours to figure out what I wanted there...smh.
It's all about just having the idea already in your head and being able to translate it. I also normally have a plethora of shit ideas that never make it. Just got lucky with this one since it's a style I'm very familiar with. (:
OMFG is this joint out?? This is fire. Awesome groove. Awesome work and it was so great to see this breakdown. I'm going to invest in Serum, and clearly start investing in more hard drive space lol.
I've been watching this video since it came out. Referring to it. Finally got tired and just spent 4 hours watching and drawing out around 20 pages of notes. In the process I came up with a great way to notate all my future work going forward, this is awesome work, sir.
Austin just destroyed the whole music industry. I am sure they took more time to edit this video than Austin took to write, compose and produce this possible Grammy nominated piece.
That’s the exact type of music i want to write!! Thank you for this! What’s your opinion about daws? Logic would still do in this style or your advice is using cubase?
@@Lhurgoyf2Kyu thank you very much, sorry for the late answer. If you will, I'm still deciding over these two :D I'm willing to go with Logic but am a worried of the VST plugins that they will not be able to integrated into Logic. What are these with AU and VST?
@@regorajczi AU and VST is sort of the same thing. However, AU is specifically for the Mac OS platform. So Logic can use both vst and AU, while cubase can only use vst if you have a Mac.
@@Lhurgoyf2Kyu ty again. However I read that Logic can only use AU. I have a mac yes. I'm curious about your personal opinion. Which one is better at songwriting/audio editing and mixing?
Wow you have incredible talent - as a songwriter, producer and vocalist! You have not only completely nailed The Weeknd's style, you've also created a great song that stands on its own merits.
this sound as a Dieter bohlen song from music. blinding lights is one of the few songs i like from them. i dont know whats diffrent. blinding light sound not boring for me after 4 bars. this and many other weekend songs do
Yeah I dont like any other weekend songs except blinding lights.. that song is perfect and on its own... this tutorial is very good and informative but as its a tutorial on how to make a tune like blinding lights its always going to fall short... no disrespect to author of the video... but blinding lights to me is a masterpiece that even the weekend will not surpass IMO
I just wanna say I really enjoyed this, best narration, straight to the point, zero bullsh*t, very well paced for such a long video, time flew so quickly and the end result is just unreal, got my sub bro. Really good work! 🙇♂️
Dude your top line skills are insane. Every track you do in these tutorials is a bloody hit. Just checking your website out too. So good. Glad to have discovered you.
Really insightful and informative video! Love this whole process. Question, the processing/minor mixing throughout, before finishing the track, is that something you do a lot? Or is that to get a more polished result for the purposes of the video?
It's 2:30am and I've got work tomorrow.... I.... I mean I just can't stop watching these videos... What a gift you are to the world of music dude. Really appreciate your talent and work ethic Austin 👍
But that’s not really how I make music. I just play until I like something. Haha that’s why I show the MIDI, so if you want to follow along you can see it.
Here you go (the best I could do) I can tell just by the way you walk You've been looking for the guy To come and ruin your whole life I'm not jealous from the way you talk I know you've done this a few times But all I'm thinking [about so nice?] so.. Turn down the lights baby Pour a drink Let me take control No rules tonight I got one little thing I need you to know When I wake up tomorrow Girl you better be gone Cos I'm not one to follow And I can't lead you on So I have to be honest I'd rather be alone I just need some company tonight I just need you ease my mind over [unclear] [absolutely unclear]
Hi guys, quick question; on my version of Serum, I don't have the Bass sound "Thiccins". Is there a Serum pack you can point me towards that has this bass sound please?
@@MakePopMusic Thanks, I'll grab that shortly. I actually just got the Dark Pop 2 Sample pack from your site last night, loving the crushed kicks. Cheers, DB
