By making this slip-on sandal, you will learn how to "stitch-in". It's a process that can be used to make other styles of footwear as long as the heel seam is open. The heel seam can be stitched after the stitch-in process is complete. The pattern for this sandal can be found at: simpleshoemaki...
The sole of this sandal is available in my etsy shop either as part of a slip-on sandalmaking kit, or separately. It is ecological because the "rubber" part of the sole was left over when a bowling shoe company went out of business. The thin topsole is made from vegetable-tanned belly leather from Wickett and Craig. Vegetable-tanned leather tanned in the U.S.A. is also ecological.
Make the upper for this sandal from hand-made felt, heavy fabric, quilted, appliqued and embroidered fabric - even hooked material!
