Since I was a teenager ... over 60 years ago ... I have saved my hair as it was cut off at the hairdresser's salons. No, not the 1" pieces, but when I have had more drastic cuts. I use this hair for pincushion stuffing. I have also made two old-fashioned 8" pillows that I place on my dresser to keep broaches and other pins. The hair is perfect for all pins, and it doesn't dull the sharp ends like polyester would. This is an old-fashioned and historic use for hair.

So Pleased to see You Are Back!!! A Joyous Event & certainly needed… No Pins in Mouth or Floor…. I know so well. In 1970s my Mother was cutting out a pattern on floor & got a pin in her ankle… it broke off ( Glass head - so she wouldn’t loose!) She had to have Major Ankle Surgery remove!!! Be warned!!! LPin Cushions are so essential & also a Strong Magnet to find any strays on the floor. Regards from UK.x

OMG I have been waiting for this day forever. Welcome back. I am so HAPPY to see you back and healthy. I have been checking to see if you have returned. the whole time you were away. The first thing I checked was the date of this, to see if it was new. I love watching you and just listening. I think of you every time I don't take my foot of my foot peddle and accidentally sew a few unexpected stitches. That, for me, is the best advise you have given me. Soooooo happy you are back! MUCH LOVE! Several years ago I made my working pin cushion. I made it from canvas, shaping a circular cup/bowl base to put the cushion into snuggly. On the bottom I have sewn a square piece of fabric, sewn down on two sides, that allows me to put through my silver bracelet, that I always wear. Around the sides of the “bowl”, I attached a wide band of beaded loom work. I wish I could share it here. It turned out really great for my sewing projects!

I have a little red tomato with sawdust that's disintegrating, but I have to admit my lazy solution. During the 80s when shoulder pads were in everything, I took them out because I have square shoulders naturally. I've been using one of those shoulder pads as a pincushion for years. I'm going to make myself a wrist one at last. Thank you! 😊 (Edited a LOT because of darn typos.🫣)

Wow, Evelyn! Nice, personalized pin cushion. Happy you have splurged and got an embroidery machine. They are great fun! Mine is about 3 1/2 - 4 years old now. I know I will never learn all the things it has the capacity to do. But it is great fun learning about it. I did purchase a bangle (can't remember where) so I just have to get back in my sewing room and make it! I think I will personalize mine, as well! Unfortunately, life has slowed me down for the past months. But I will get back to it, I am sure.

I lost a lovely fine knit merino jumper to insects. Couldn't see any way to mend it, but it made fantastic batting for a pair of oven gloves and a large pin cushion (not for my wrist). I folded it up into many layers for the pin cushion, and embedded a neodymium magnet in the middle of the lower layers.

Congratulations on your health! That's wonderful! Very nice, useful pincushion project, too. I had one filled with sand long ago and it sharpened the pins as it was used. That might be a little too heavy for some, but I thought I'd mention it. Thanks for sharing this project.
