In this episode we are making a super simple worm tea for those who are easily overwhelmed with worm teas and the ingredients needed for some recipes. This also does not require aeration like other teas. Worm tea contains millions and billions of microbes that are beneficial for the garden and soil health. All you need are these ingredients! Worm castings, molasses, and unchlorinated water!

Many bloggers is promoting this molasses product and misleading subscribers. Yes, you can use any sugar . Try cheep pancake sugar syrup on sale it will do the same job. I have over 25 yers experience in chemistry , biology and health care, and worm farming. Happy farming!!!!!

instead of stirring, *slowly* pour from one bucket to another from a few feet above if you can manage the weight to aerate. Then pour into original bucket at a quicker/normal pace to fully mix the solution.

straight vermicast and water stirred and then used works great. Your vermicast already has everything you want in it there is no need for molasses or aeration if you made quality worm castings.
@Kamala-km4ty
@Kamala-km4ty 2 месяца назад
You just have to keep it from going anaerobic. The aerobic bacteria and fungus are typically the ones you want. This is how to make an anaerobic tea, but it defeats 90% of the purpose of adding a tea in the first place.

Not for in-ground garden because it's an environmental problem. But potted plants are ok because we always freshen up potting soil by removing 1/3 of the old; and thoroughly mix the remaining 2/3 of old with new and put back in nutrients - at least, people should!

I use a new white cotton sock, the long ones you can buy in a value pack $10 for 20 pairs, at Wal-Mart. I put 1L of organic worm castings into the sock then add it to a 5 gallon bucket. But before all that, I'd let the water sit for about 12-24 hours for the chlorine to gas out (evaporate). Then dunk the sock in, add some Fish Sh!t 5-10ml, that's the actual name of the product. After that I add about 5-7 tablespoons of unsulphured molasses. I let that mixture sit for about 12-24 hours with an air stone at the bottom for oxygen. So far my garden loves this compost tea and so I'm going to continue to use it. Everyone has their own method of brewing up compost tea. The last video I watched a few days ago, the guy was adding banana peels into the compost tea for his garden, since banana's contain high amounts of potassium and so you would think that perhaps the potassium leaches out into the water. Super informative video, but to anyone making compost tea, seriously it doesn't cost much for a air pump, air tubing, and an air stone. Usually it all comes in a kit for under $20 on Amazon. Just read the reviews so you can make an informed purchasing decision.

Great video Luke. I make tea using the same method. When it's time to stir, I like to use a paint mixing attachment on my hand held drill. It really works well to agitate & aerate. I also prefer to root drench. What I found works best for me is to rake in a handful of your Trifecta+ slow release fertilizer, then drench it with the tea and cover it up with a layer of mulch. It seems to really help the area explode with microbial life which works well here in SW Florida this time of year with all the heavy rain. Nice & simple. Thanks again for a great video

Another RU-vidr swears by work tea, but I won't spend $25 for a quart of anything...I have a "young" garden, 2 mos old and I haven't fed yet (including 25 seedling pods, my herbs are an inch or 2 tall) Is worm tea what I need? I also have miracle grow liquafeed and a hopper to mix the spray if that's a better option. If it helps, I have about 25 plants in raised beds (tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and peppers), 3 fruit trees and about 30 potted herbs (basil, cilantro, rosemary, dill, etc) plus the seedling tray, the tomatoes 3-4 ft tall just began fruiting, cucumbers and peppers too, but much shorter of course. Thank you for helping a first timer
@rachaecos

@wyattspop
@wyattspop 4 года назад
@@rachaecos Thank you for the suggestion Rach..I'm still finding my way around things, but I go big at everything I do. I have 5 separate gardens already, one just flowers, cucumbers and squash, tomatoes and Basil, Bell peppers and regular peppers and a 2nd tomato-only planted late so I'd have a second crop in Aug/Sept, about 20 potted herbs and 50 seedlings under the lamps growing carrots, beets and such, but I haven't got any mulch and I'm still figuring out feeding...always welcome the advice...
