I'll show you the way I made a tour pack wall mount for under 20 bucks. Here is a list of the hardware I purchased.
4 x 3/8-16 x3 Round Head Bolt with Nut
4 x 3/8 Nylon Lock Buts (optional)
4 x 3/8 Split Nut Washer
2 x 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" x 36" Slotted Steel Angle - 18 Gauge
To make the brackets mountable to 2 wall studs I changed the bolts to Structural Connectors Threaded Rod which will allow you to have both brackets secured in a 16" spaced wall stud and have plenty of room in the middle to mount your pack.
Maybe fancy it up with some black spray paint.
JUST TO BE CLEAR, IF YOU BUILD THESE AND YOU DROP YOUR TOUR PACK....I AM IN NO WAY LIABLE. THIS IS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.

One thing I might suggest is....when handling your tourpak.....or actually before handling your tourpak....make sure the latch is locked. We have a tendency to grab onto the latch....and if it is not locked....it will snap open and could do damage. Just my 2 cents

Thank you John and thats some great advice for the other guys too! I'm pinning this comment to the top. Something I should have mentioned but I always keep mine locked so it never crossed my mind. Thanks again brother.

You can still use your 16" center studs, just use 18" of all thread instead of bolts. Also, turn the tour pack upside down and let it rest on the bottom all thread while you can still lock the latch on the top side. If you want to get fancy, use a piece of 3/4" pipe on the all thread. Just a thought, Thanks

Hey Scott. Yes sir, I think the threaded bolt stock will be much better ...I think they were around 4 or 5 bucks vs the 2 or 3 bucks I payed for the bolts and washers.

Good idea for getting the tour pac up and out of the way. One more thing though. If you purchase a stick of 3/8 CPVC and cut it to length, it will slide over the allthread and give the plastic pieces on the rack a softer, smoother surface to lay on instead of the metal threads of the rod. I built a rack for my Airwing luggage rack & Sissy Bar and the 3/8 pvc works great.

i would add some thin wall plastic tubing over the bolts small enough to fit inside the tour pack bracket slots to keep bolt threads from gouging into the plastic and chrome tour pack bracket slots.

mines been hanging since I made this video..no issues if you lock the pack down ...you can also flip the pack so the U shape is at the bottom and then lock the top in. They sell similar set ups pre made for over 200...this is just a homemade version to save some money. thank you for checking it out.

Yes sir...very easy to make...If I did it again I would probably use the threaded bars instead of the bolts...that pack is still hanging on my wall however since I made this video..you can see it in some of the newer vids...stick holding strong

@JohnDoe-yj9tj
@JohnDoe-yj9tj 6 лет назад
Try mounting it 180 degrees from whats in the video, so itll slip into the front tour pack notch easier...backpad facing down...just an idea.
@travisgray3331
@travisgray3331 5 лет назад
I tried that but the weight of the tour pack then is leaning forward and putting all the weight on the plastic quick detach clips...just something I noticed
@Cokebeard
@Cokebeard 5 лет назад
when i watched this, I, like john doe, wondered why you didn't flip the tour pak around and lock it in from the top down. to me that seems safer as it won't fall straight down as you try to lock in the 'back'. have you tried mounting it this way? is there something with quick release that worries you?
@sikbaggers
@sikbaggers 5 лет назад
No sir... U can mount it either way... Mines been hanging theee for awhile like that... No issues.. Either way works though

So I went and built this only to find that there is a part of the rear mount that protrudes off of the mount, past the plastic clips, that hits the wall before the plastic clip can engage the all-thread rod...
@sikbaggers
@sikbaggers 4 года назад
pull your stud bolts out on the bottom and add some fender washers behind it. Make the rack attached to the wall at an angle so you have more clearance. If you need to buy longer stud bolts.
@jonboast5687
@jonboast5687 4 года назад
Ya dude I actually just stuck some 1x4 i had around just ending the angle iron at top and bottom... spaced it out nicely and I’m rockin and rollin! The all-thread flexes a bit much for my taste so I’m gonna get some stainless tube to slide over it and solidify things a bit more... I also added an anchor point above it that I just tie off a rope to as security 🤘

I don't think the wall stud is needed.
@sikbaggers
@sikbaggers 5 лет назад
If you want to hang your 1000 dollar tour pack from drywall or particle board, go for it. Ill put one in a stud.
@josephthibault6999
@josephthibault6999 5 лет назад
@@sikbaggers You are right it is your tour pack. Just pointing out that things a lot heavier and expensive than a tour pack are held up by less every day.
@josephthibault6999
@josephthibault6999 5 лет назад
@@sikbaggers Also I usually just take 2x4 scrap and bridge the gap between the studs for things like this because 2x4s are cheap and easy to work with. In your case 2 20 inch 2x4s would probably work perfect.
