Toasted Almond Good Humor ice cream, is the only Good Humor ice cream I'd choose. So sad Good Humor company decided to slowly minimize the distribution across the US and then finally discontinue this sophisticated, sweet and tasty ice cream treat. Thanks for sharing your cake recipe and assuring the toasted almond taste lives on.
Talking about sophisticated taste, I went to a diner on vacation where they served a cake that was so good that I had to know how it was made. It was a fridge cake consisting of layers of cookies, whipped cream, and pudding. I likes what I likes.
I loved the Toasted Almond Bar and missed it dearly. Just randomly decided to Google the ice cream bar to see if there was a recipe and stumbled across your cake recipe. I think I’ll give it a try, altho a stroke has made cooking more difficult. I think a little time and patience will make it worth the taste.
This cake is so DELICIOUS!! I baked it for Mother's Day everyone loved it and couldn't believe that it was vegan, even though I messed up the flax meal water TSB, almond sponge cake came out very soft, but the taste was there =) I loved this cake, I decided to make it again this weekend for friends gathering. Thank you for this amazing recipe
Can't wait to try this! I finally tried your vanilla cake (I had never used cake flour before) and it was so amazing! Couldn't believe the consistency of the batter, how it rose so evenly and the taste was perfect. Thank you for sharing!
This was my second favorite thing from the GH guy's truck, after the Strawberry Shortcake, so I was a mad sophisticated rustbelt kid, ha! Thanks for posting : )
I use the country crock plant butter too!! Except the almond oil one lol and I love how it’s white as well and it tastes super good. I use it straight from the fridge as well lol especially for my frostings bc it does get pretty soft at room temp but hey that just makes it super convenient since I don’t have to bring it to room temp lol, this looks super good tho I might try it! ☺️
Love this video. As usual your creativity and originality are beyond. How many ways are there to say mouthwatering? Also your experimentation here with cold Country Crock olive oil butter and how it turns out whiter than other dyed yellow vegan butters is very useful. As is your explanation about how alternating mixing the wet and dry ingredients for the batter won't cause rubbery gluten to make the cake tough. Now I confess I ate the almond paste right out of the package from Olive Nation and have none left. Bad John bad. That cool cat goes perfectly with that furniture. Now I'm going to the grocery store to get some Country Crock and almond paste to make the stable delicious sounding almond cream cheese frosting. Question/ joke. What do you mean we don't have to to eat the whole thing?
Haha! Thanks John, I also ate the almond paste out of the bag! But I didn't eat ALL of it! You're right Tim matches the sofa! and THANK YOU as always for your support!
Was never a fan of any of those ice cream bars but I need to fry this one and the chocolate one for myself and the strawberry one for family. Thank you so much for being you! Yes to cats!!! I want to get another cat but my girl here is not having it😹
I loved the chocolate eclair bar:))) Would love for you to make us an ice cream cake Gretchen, maybe for the summer....I am hot in Florida like you:))) LOVE all Kittys I only have one-You have such a BIG Heart, I feed all the outside cats also.....😻😻😁😎🐾🌺💚💚🌞Happy Cinco de Mayo:)))🌮🥑🥒
Do you share your baked treat leftovers with people? Also I was a strawberry shortcake kid but the toasted almond was enjoyed on occasion :)) I really want to make this!
yes! As a matter of fact I send each cake off weekly with my BF's mother who goes to a community center! They LOVE the cakes!! Sometimes when I am having an "off" week and I don't bake (RARELY!) they ask, "Hey! Where's the cake!" LOL
My BF's mother goes to the community center in town each week & she brings the cake!! It's GREAT! They love it! I'm so thrilled that it doesn't go to waste! They all look forward to her showing up, and when I didn't bake a certain week, they all say, "HEY! Where's the cake!" LOL
@@GretchensVeganBakery That’s great! And what a lucky community! You don’t get RU-vid cake everyday! She is probably the most popular person in then community 😁 Love your channel btw!
Yes, absolutely! Just baked the cake into cupcakes although you will have to decide which cake you want to bake because I am using two different recipes here… 😆
I can't have soy. Could I substitute the buttermilk for anything else? I'm making efforts in my life to avoid animal products but if I have to use an animal product I will. As long as it's humanely sourced.
Yes! You can use any plant milk you like, it's just that the soy is the only one that will "sour" and thicken like buttermilk. But it's totally fine to use another plant milk!
Hi Carrol! You wouldn't believe what it takes me to film only the food shots. I have a very small space to film and work. With cameras, extension cords, lighting (and the lighting is terrible by the way, the last time I was on video the shadows were horrible and it was just not a good professional look) I do all of this by myself and it is a chore just to focus on the food and get good clear angles with proper audio etc..... If I was to be on video I'm just adding another l layer of chaos to the mix that I just don't want to deal with in my older age LOL. Besides I then have to look a certain way too, hair makeup, it's a total nightmare and well..honestly I just don't really want to be on video the anymore.
