How to make a lanyard for your calls with paracord. If you would like to purchase a custom made lanyard, email me at lhwaterfowl@gmail.com I can do all styles, types, and colors. Just let me know what you'd like. Thanks
Guys, nice job. Used you videos to make my own. I have a suggestion. Instead of melting the drops to the core and wrapping over them, then worrying about them coming out. I used one piece of cord for both drops. I set up the first drop similar to you, no melting but longer cord. Then when you get to the 16th braid, the second drop is already there. No worry about losing drops as they're attached to each other. Also, I wrapped the first drop on the first braid, so the drop is 'locked'.
This video has taught me how to make my 16 month old son... Reed's first duck call lanyard! Ya'll rock!!! I'm on my third one. :) thank you!!!! Kristie... Hunter, from MD =)
Making this along with some other paranoid hunting accessories for my dad for Christmas! Great tutorial (I haven't used paracord in 3+ year and this helped so much!)
Great video...just finished making mine.. just an FYI to all who plan on trying this..... you can buy 18 ft. sections at Wal-Mart for $2 ( several colors) and you only need 3 18ft sections to complete with 6 drops
I might do that. Just take a piece and tie slip knots at each end. Make it as long as you want it to be to go over your shoulders and hold the ducks where you want. Make 3 of these to hold 6 ducks. Lay all three pieces evenly next to each other and do the cobra weave shown in this video over the three pieces. Kind of hard to explain, but I'll work on a video
They are leg bands from geese and ducks. Some waterfowl are banded and when you harvest one you call the number and report it. It allows yourself and wildlife workers to track and learn about waterfowl; usually how old the bird is, when it was banded, and where it was banded.
hey man nice job on the lanyard. what are the metal deals you have on the finished lanyards? they add a nice look to it... please explain what they are and how you made them. thanks
I think we used 50 feet of each color, but you will need more for the extra for doing cobra on the drops and the neck pad part. Probably just get 100 ft of each. You can use the extra to make bracelets or use for anything else
Almost 10 feet of waste on the 25' of each color if you make these exactly like in the video. 10 feet wasted for EACH color. I kept my drops as two solid strands for each side (4 stands total for the complete lanyard) This way you don't have to burn anything. Just braid over the center of your 3 feet and use the ends for your two drops (each call). There is also nearly 6 feet of waste for your center piece that you are braiding over. Video says 12 feet... you'll have plenty with 8. It also makes it look a bit better if you choose the center core to be the same color as your middle color for the braid. Makes the gaps less noticeable.
