This is a great little technique I learned from Ken Cardwell of Knivesandlanyards.com when I asked for suggestions on creating a 4-strand round braid loop for a lanyard without ending up with 8 strands. He shared his approach with me on the Usual Suspects Network forum, and it became a key component of my SkogKniv lanyard design. Please also visit SkogKniv's youtube channel and see a video he did upon receipt of the custom lanyard • Video . Another great application of this loop would be in making the wrist loop on a dog leash!

5 years on and your video is still the best instructional, easy to follow youtube I've found, you came up 1st in my search, now I'm making braids of my own. Big thank you and best wishes to your family.

I've been making paracord items for a few weeks now and have learned quite a few knots/weaves, so you can imagine how many videos I have gone through to learn many of the techniques available to us on RU-vid. This braid however has been a struggle for me to master. Thanks to you sharing this tutorial I have watched a few times now, I can finally produce a consistent 4 strand round braid. Thank you very much!

First of your videos I have watched, just beginning my journey into tying paracord, enjoyed this quite a bit. On your comment about blocked rude people - one of the issues we have in society today is people believing they have to tolerate rude and crude behavior. We don't. I applaud your actions.

I really like what you have done here. I'm glad that you took it slow and you walked people through like beginners. I'm also grateful for the notes that send them to other places to learn the knots. That's pretty awesome

Really appreciate your video! This is my first time watching you and I really appreciate your comments on blocking people, there’s no reason for people leaving negative comments. I look forward to watching more of your tutorials! Keep up the good work! This video solved a problem I was having for a camera lanyard. Thanks!

I enjoy knowing it is safe to browse through your comments with my kids. The videos I have seen show the steps clearly and even though the background of your 'secretary' etc. has detracted from the professionalism of the piece it has never interfered with the delivery of content and information. Thank you for your vids, SUBSCRIBED.

Kevin, I hasve watched several of your videos, and find them very instructioinal and helpful. I need the exercise to keep my small muscles and nerves trained, because of a neuromuscular disease I have, and tying your decorative knots, pyrography and several other art forms are mainstays for me! You are doing a great job of getting the informatiuon and techniques out there, and I don't care if it is accomopanied by your secretary's typing or your kids in the background!.

I wanted to thank the Paracordist for these great videos. I've been a knot-head all my life but this is stepping it up a notch! I'm learning a lot and having fun. After seeing this video I tried different variations of the same idea, splicing the four strand round braid back into itself...either for a loop, or as asked, for a complete circle (necklace). I am finding that when I do it right, it turns into doubled four strand round braid (four pairs of two) I end up having a loop of four strand round braid with a lead of doubled four strand round braid...that eventually peters out to only four strands again....I can run them all through a ring and weave them back in again, making it doubled four strand all the way back to where it all started....hope that makes sense.

I have been crafting braided items (lanyards, keyfobs, whips, etc) since the late 1960's. Back then, I was working (mostly) with flat stock... leather strips, vinyl, etc. At one point, I believed it was a "lost art". Glad to see the art is coming back... Vas

Great, easily understood videos! I am actually going to use leather but the techniques are the same. My project is a dog show lead with beads interspersed along the lead. I may use paracord for a core. Is there a way to create a lead with a loop on both ends? One end being the handle loop and the other end a small loop to attach a show collar?

Good vid Kevin. thankyou for mentioning me. One thing I might suggest on your needle nose pliers is to file off the ridges so it is smooth. Less chance to catch on the paracord and snag it. I use mine all the time since like you showed you want the braiding to be consistent and using the pliers to snug things up works great.

I wanted to see how you ended a 4 strand round braid and work it back on itself. I liked what you did by using a wall knot, however that is something I have to learn better. What would be the next knot to use to bring a project to it's finish? I appreciate what you said about keeping your videos, etc. clean cut and no bullying. Very nicely said, and I highly respect that. Thank you for your video. Dana

You have a very nice manner on your videos. I have a question, I’m looking to make a short braided rope with I loop on each end. Please correct me if I’m wrong but it seems that all the strength of this loop is where one cord goes around one loop in the end of the rope. So essentially the loop is only as strong as one paracord? All I missing something?
