I am about to start working on a new window for my shed because the old one is rotten. I thought I was going to need to buy some tools that I don't have. But now I don't thanks to you. I can't thank you enough. Brilliant, thanks mate.

Thank you so much for posting these videos! I'm building a greenhouse with glass panes I salvaged from a tear down in my area and I have been looking for days to figure out how to make a window sash and this is the only video out there with great instructions! You rock Michael :)

Perfect for what I needed. I'm building a shed and searched for an old, 4-pane window and could not find one. I'll build one instead now. Thanks for putting it up.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for and perfect size. Just needed a little inspiration. I live in Japan and am building an extension and windows are close to 600$ for stuff that doesnt even look good so thanks for the inspiration, much obliged.

I wish I saw this before I made the window for my shed, I used a sheet of Lexan, So i would never have to repair it again, but it doesnt open, so if I ever get to it now I know how. Great Job Michael.

Great video....I just discovered your channel today and love the "keep it simple" concept and clear explanations you give. You are a good teacher. I recently built my first ever structure of any kind ( chicken coop) and learned many lessons the hard way. Anyway, I'm planning some future projects and I will certainly be watching your videos for help. Thank you very much.

Thanks for sharing this footage,at 3.40 where you say 1 x strips, using spacers and maybe bigger width wooden strips, you could layer more glass,so you could make double or triple glazed windows.All depends on what the weather is like around where you live:)

@Alekcanuk Thanks, just be sure to use goggles when doing that tenon cut. And test it first with a scrap piece to make sure the depth and width is correct. I typically have to adjust a few times before moving on the the actual piece.

If you look at where the window sits you'll notice that it is flush with the outside edge of the sill. Weather never touches the sill in this particular set up. if you want to recess the window then just angle the sill and add shims to secure.

I'm sorry to ask something that is maybe obvious to those more experienced than I, but you say you tacked in those 1by strips somehow? I was hoping to know how you did that. Heh. Also, any advice for someone who is essentially wanting to make two of these and then put them together into one window where they latch, preferably to each other, and open out?

great video and he know what is he doing, very good teacher, just a advice, You should never work with glass, tools etc. wearing flip flops, it's dangerous, so he is wearing flip flops, instead of boots or even regular shoes, look at him nice feet but unsafe.

How did you install the henges without beveling the top so it would not hang when opening?
@michaelbronco
@michaelbronco 6 лет назад
Ron Todd Great question. Not a fancy answer, though. I used a stick to prop it open.
@krzywonos34
@krzywonos34 6 лет назад
Michael, I second the question posted by Ron Todd. I think you misunderstood the question when you answered "used a stick...". I am afraid that the window would not have enough of a clearance on top for it to swing open. I would be grateful if you could address this particular issue. Thank you in advance.
@matthewh.6041
@matthewh.6041 6 лет назад
from what i can gather, the hinges are installed recessed and function like any door would, so no need for a beveled edge.
@TheSHTF2012
@TheSHTF2012 6 лет назад
@@krzywonos34 The problem is not at the top, it's at the bottom. You can either leave a larger gap to avoid interference on the out swing or bevel the inside of that bottom edge about 3°. That will provide the needed clearance.
