That's always frustrating. I'm not much of an expert in fixing stuff like that. If it's the mandrel and not the lathe I would see if you can take it to a local machinist and have them true it up, that'd be my best suggestion

It's very hard to get ebony here but I use bog oak if yius have ever heard of it. It's wood that been submerged in wet land ares for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years an bcoz there is no oxygen it gets preserved. And is super hard and dense,it breaks band saw blades n chain saw blades for breakfast lol. But it's black like ebony so I I like it... Thanks for the link to the opal guy, iv been lookin to get some for Inlays myself so I'll take a look for this guy.. Mucho Gracias 😂

I'm not 100% sure of the brand I use in this video, but it is high speed steel. Since then I've also bought a carbide one by accusize.
