that's more of a old school boat-building trick where moisture is likely to to seep in and cause you havoc, but as we're sealing this whole board with fibreglass anyway its not really necessary, it is still an optional step but for the reason of this video Im showing the most "straight forward" method. I have 3 boards made this way that are now over 4 years old and they're still going strong with no deck issues so i'm confident in my method but if you were using a different timber (like cedar for example) the sealing of the internal structure would probably be a good idea tho, as it behaves more like a sponge around moisture. with all that said, ill still be outlining the internal sealing process in another video where I build a Wave SUP, but i do this for additional strength (I use fibreglass and resin internally) not so much for stability

ScottieBruiser plywood is fine to use for the decks but I’d suggest using 4mm as 6mm wont conform that well,
