An outfeed table would be at the top of my list if I were you. Even plastic saw horses with a scrap of plywood would be better than nothing.

That kick back happened because you need a zero clearance throat plate for thin strips. The riving knife is to prevent binding of the wood on the blade. Keep up your great work safely!😀 Edited for spelling

The way you are trapping your piece between the blade and that scrap is super dangerous. The way you are cutting without supporting the work at 3:21 is super dangerous. You can attach a piece of scrap to your miter to make it longer as a support for shorter pieces like this. You can also clamp a stop block to your fence at the close side to make repeatable cuts but you won’t have anything binding between the fence and blade which is a major cause of kickback. A zero clearance insert would help a lot too. It looks like that is what happened in this case. The design is beautiful. I’m going to add it to my list of things to try. It reminds me of wheat for some reason and I think it would look cool as a front panel on a flour canister. Please be safe and check out some table saw safety videos.

Very nice cutting board! Table saws sure are scary! A bit safer approach to cutting thin strips would be to clamp that piece of wood near the end of the fence and then to have a gap at the blade between it and the fence. Then when you have made your cut, the strip would just fall into that space and you would have enough clearance to boop that over with your push stick. At least that is what I've seen other youtubers do, I don't like using the table saw myself.

Very very cool. Very inspiring. Thanks for the video. Which band saw do you use? If you don’t mind me asking.

• 1:20 - Why was the riving knife not there in the first place, did you have to remove it for another project? 🤔 • Hmm, the final result looks like there are small gaps between some of the joins. That's bad for a cutting board because they'll get filled with bacteria. 😕 Maybe you didn't clamp them tight enough. 🤷

Yeah my riving knife is taller than the blade so I can't make blind cuts. As for the tiny gaps, you're right, I had to release the video asap since I hadn't posted in a while, but I reworked them later on, and next time I will know to go much slower on the bandsaw or rather buy a scroll saw, maybe that might make my cuts more constant !

I’m shocked that you didn’t use any biscuit joints on that. That’s amazing.

Now that I actually have a biscuit jointer I defintely might. Let's just say I sacrificed a good bit of thickness on planing ;)

My question is, did you have those woodworking tools previously when you making 3d printing video, or you bought it when you started making this type of videos.

Maybe you're right, but he is making puzzle from 10 year and his first woodworking video of aquarium table is posted 1 year ago. So i just curious to know...........

@@fabiomora6491 No I just started woodworking early 2020 and bought all the equipment since the beginning of the year, the aquarium coffee table was just a one-time thing made with the most basic tools (or so I though, now that it's actually become a thing lol) My main job is being a mechanical engineer in the automobile industry !

@@GregMakesThings oh, now that you say it i think I already knew you're a mechanical engineer but I forgot. Congrats, you make this look so natural like you had been working on this as a main job.
