Why are some spare wheels installed upside-down with the tire's inflation valve inaccessible? A part-rant part-solution video.
This seems a particular problem with space saver spare wheels, which also use tyres that require the maintenance of relatively high pressure, meaning they need re-inflating all the more often.

Inflate to say 62 psi ( for a 60 psi tyre) if you are concerned about loosing some pressure when extension piece is removed to use spare in anger, this will be well within limits of tyre spec as there will be room for tolerance allowing for accuracy of pressure gauges.

Glad to see you still have the Mondeo. Mines still going strong at 19 years old and 86000 miles, especially after the swirl flap removal last year from your earlier video!

I just carry a tyre inflator/air compressor in the back of my vehicle. If I get a flat and the spare is low I can just top it up. Also it saves me going to a petrol /gas station to do a regular top up of the other tyres as I can do it at my leisure in my own garage.

Idont do it to my GTI Clubsport, as it dont have spare wheel. Reason being on a track car you dont want extra weight... Acually you wanna remove weight. Whereas in Clubsport S they even removed the backseats. Ohh well glad idont own the S as i need passanger space! Thats that little story explained! 😄

An underinflated spare wheel is not a big problem. At the first gas station it is possible to adjust to correct pressure value. Honestly, out of 160k km, I only needed the spare tyre once. So I would not bother keeping the tyre pressure within a strict pressure range all the time. The cost of the time spent doing so doesn't equalize the benefits that extra effort produces.
