------------------------------------------------------------------------
TO SEAL FOR COASTER USE:
• For home decor: Multiple coats of Krylon Kamar Varnish, followed by multiple coats of Krylon UV-Resistant spray (I generally use the Gloss spray. Make sure you follow directions for time in between spraying and handling).
• For coasters: Seal with Krylon Kamar Varnish (you can use Krylon UV-Resistant spray afterwards if preferred. It should help protect from fading if not using a UV resin) followed by your favourite heat-resistant resin. I've heard CrystaLac is great for coasters and non-toxic.
Please follow SDS protocols for safety of all of the above.

I put my alcohol ink inside the ornament and allow to dry fully then coat with white or metallic paint and the colors are so vibrant!
@TinaIrvine

I’ve seen that done before too! Seems really fun!! Hope to try that technique someday! My only concern is if the glass isn’t UV protected in any way, the ink colours may fade/change over time..? 🤔

You briefly mentioned the styrofoam cup... do you just force the ornament into the bottom of the cup by pushing it in or do you prep the cup in any way? How do you seal the ornament when T’s all dry? Thank you for posting this one!! I’ve had my glass ornaments for a year & have been afraid to start.
@TinaIrvine
@TinaIrvine 4 года назад
I make a hole in the cup with a toothpick, then a paintbrush handle to enlarge it, and then I use my finger to make the hole just large enough to twist the top of the bulb inside. Thank you so much for watching 💕

Hi @terragallo7110, Thank you for watching. Yes, the ornaments were initially clear. I used acrylic ink on the inside to coat them, and let them dry overnight.

This is great! Do you paint the inside directly out of the little bottle of Amsterdam acrylic ink or do you make up a medium out of it? Thank you 😊

@TinaIrvine
@TinaIrvine 3 года назад
Hi @Jackielane88! Thank you so much for watching :) What are you sealing them with? I would recommend that they dry at least overnight before sealing, and if you're sealing with a spray varnish, make sure you're holding the spray can the recommended distance away. Hope that helps...???

Sounds like there is alcohol in your varnish that is reactivating the ink. A water based polycrylic should work better.
@sic1lianqt

Love these! I just started making some on a regular glass ornament, and for some reason, some spots on the ornament where the ink is, looks like it is separating, kind of like how oil and water would separate on a plate. Nothing is on the glass, just the ink. Any idea why? I can't find anything online about it. Thank you in advance!
@TinaIrvine
@TinaIrvine 3 года назад
Hi Tanya! Thank you 💕 Is it humid where you are? I've had little droplets form when working on yupo when it's humid. Is that similar to what you're seeing? What brand of ink are you using?
@sic1lianqt
@sic1lianqt 3 года назад
@@TinaIrvine thank you so much for the reply! Not really humid. When I stamp the ink on, it looks like the ink is moving apart and then there's a gap where there's no ink, similarly to when water beads off a surface with oil. Very strange. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's oil from my hands? Not sure, but it's happening in random spots.
@TinaIrvine
@TinaIrvine 3 года назад
@@sic1lianqt hmm...sorry, I wish I could help more :( It could be possible that it's from your hands? Maybe wearing gloves might help...? Or, cleaning the surface with isopropyl alcohol first? Please let me know if you find out what the cause is :)

Do you have another recommendation for the airblower?
@TinaIrvine
@TinaIrvine 3 года назад
Hi Dana! Thank you so much for watching :) There are a few tools that could be used to push the ink around. Anything that gently blows (cool) air should work. An air brush or air compressor would be ideal. Outdoors, with good ventilation, you could try blowing into a straw. If you're picking up your ornament and tilting it, you'll likely want something that can be easily operated with one hand. I haven't tried a heat gun (cool setting would probably be safest), but it may work okay...? I purchased a "World's Smallest Dust Blower" a few days ago. I am looking forward to trying it on my ornaments this year. I purchased mine locally, but here's a link to give you an idea: amzn.to/3nLDhqy (The URL is an affiliate link which helps to support my channel. You could try a turkey baster or the bulb that is used for a baby when they have a stuffy nose. Or the "canned air" (not sure what the cold temp might do to it.) Im going to try one of these !
