Salvador Flores it is totally cost effective, you only pay for the raw almonds and you make 2 products from it .. almond milk and almond flour from the pulp 😏
Iron Rhams I bake them on 170-180 degrees or less depending on your oven if it’s too hot then less ... to avoid burning the pulp , also it’s important to toss them every 10-15 minutes so they lose the moisture quicker and not burn ... o say for about 30 - 40 minutes of backing is good Also I don’t bake each time I make almond milk , i actually store the pulp in the freezer until I have a decent amount then I just pop in in a pan and bake it ... break it and toss it all the way till it’s dry 😊
Before adding all the water in food processor you should add first small amount of water then grind the almonds so that it will make fine paste of it and then add remaining water to it and mix in this way more almond milk will be extract and less waste will be there... 😀 everything else was perfect
Thanks for your idea sweetie but I didn’t do it that way because I’ve got a very powerful blending machine that made everything almost milk after blending.
I recently started making almond milk, (twice a week). I soak half cup of almonds overnight, then blend with 4- 6 cups of water, makes about 2 liters of milk, (this works for me).The longer the almonds are soaked, the less pulp you will have left over. A 1.36 kg bag of raw Almonds costs $15.00, way cheaper than the water based ones in the store. I use the pulp to make almond flour, where I spread it out on a cookie sheet, bake in the oven at 300 degrees fahrenheit for 2 hours, or until there is no moisture left, then blend it into a fine flour. Benefits, delicious healthy almond milk without additives and flour to use for baking. Note: you can also substitute the raw almonds for 2 tbsp of almond butter, to make the milk.
I found out the one I normally buy from supermarkets only has about 2.5% of full almonds in a 1 litre pack. She has 1 cup almond to 4 cup water, that's 20% and no additives.
One thing I would recommend would be to blend the almonds first with just one cup of water then add the other three cups after. For most blenders, this is the only way to get the almonds really crushed up.
+DianaBanana I agree. I also think using a food processor and pureeing the product, or using a Nutribullet to pulverize the product completely, will give you a thicker base, hence making far more volume in milk as a result. The "almond meal" she produced could easily be repurposed.
When preparing almonds to soak I do another with a few tablespoons of linseed and chia seeds in filtered water and add this gel/seeds to the grinding up stage. Ive found it gives thickness the soluble fiber gives it a real full cream milk texture.
“Listen, im not vegan or anything, I just wanna make almond milk” I appreciate that intro, it’s like saying “I’m not here to tell you how to live your life, you do you, but if you want almond milk, here’s how you do it”
Lmao it's probably the opposite. People get so butthurt when a vegan opens their mouth. There wouldn't be anything wrong if she mentioned it was vegan but people would get so offended
"It is never too late to change the way you eat - once you do, your body will thank you with a longer and healthier life." David H. Murdock this is the first time i heard about this magic Almond milk , and you explained it perfectly . thank you very much
Substituted the milk in my oatmeal with almond milk (I usually use regular milk) and i can honestly say i like it better! It's still really creamy, surprisingly. It has a nice nutty vanilla flavor, that goes surprisingly well with brown sugar oatmeal, and i don't have to feel guilty eating it. It's awesome stuff!
@@jennyrutledge4249 Absolutely. I eat it with everything now, haven't bought milk since this post, but i'm not vegan. Just feel almond milk is best! Take care.
use a table spoon of ghee, some elaichi powder, some cinnamon powder ( just a pinch) and pan rost the almond meal - add some palm sugar or dates or raisins - and roast for another few minutes till brown - then add a banana cut into slices - keep this nut mixture in the fridge and can eat this with icecream or yoghurt or honey and with some cakes and toast it is a good breakfast too - nutritious stuff
Thank you, it was easy. I let my almonds soak for 4 hr's, until I could peel all the husk off, so I just had white almonds to put in the blender. I used coconut water, with dates, and vanilla extract, with a bit is salt. there was only white pulp to strain. It turned out sooooo good.
I buy my coconut water from an Organic Store called MOM'S. I don't know much about the differenc in coconut water. Zolo 100% coconut water is good. Also Vita Coco pure coconut water.
The almond flour left over? I used it to mix 2 cups of oatmeal with the 1 cup of almond meat left over from making the milk. I put in one banana and mixed it all together then put them on a baking sheet as little 2 inch diameter cookies. I baked them at 325F for 16 minutes I think I may try the dates to sweeten my almond milk that way the flour portion will also sweeten my cookies. The cookies were very mildly sweet, but definitely healthy. Best part is nothing went to waste. .
I am so happy i found you on youtube today. I am so sick of all low carb, high fat, no sugar, no fat, vegan, non vegan, no this and no that diets. I just want to eat healthy and good. It is just soooooooooooooo refreshing to find someone with your attitude to food. Thank you!
Just wanna say thank you! I followed your instructions and the almond milk turned out amazing! Great taste, very easy to make! And the most important thing is it is healthy!! 100% natural
It's true salt does enhance the sweetness if your almond milk is not milky enough you can always add some cashews which is not a nut but they will also make it taste creamier and milkyer yummy yummy
You got that right. In every 8 oz serving, you have about 94% water and about 4 almonds. So, when you are paying almost $3 for 1/2 gal, you are really paying for flavored water. Actually, I learned this because watching the blue diamond commercial, I wondered how growers who also made the milk could possibly be profitable? After all, how much milk could you possibly extract from one almond? It would take an entire tree to make 3 gallons! Of course, I knew something was funny, so I looked it up. What a buzzkill knowing I buy the stuff for my wife. Now, I'll see if I can make it myself and she'll never be the wiser. LOL!
Scott McMan you are totally right. I gonna stop buying almonds milk from Costco, and start to buy almonds from Costco to make my own almonds milk instead. She make it looks so easy to make and with a proper bottle, we also can store the almonds milk in the fridge for 3-5 days, which means I only need to make it twice a week, not too hard. Yeah~~~
Andrew Glagau+ yes that makes total sense. we need to know the facts though re- protein /fat content of the pulp and how baking out moisture affects the nutirent profile?
What an extremely charming personality, and providing exactly what I needed to know! My wife consumes a lot of mixed nuts, but won't eat the almonds, so we have a surplus of them. I'm gonna turn them into "milk".
OMG this is so GOOD! TFS I will sometimes add coconut shredded to this and after wards the Almond/coconut meal I toast at 170 degrees for 35 minutes and the run it in my food processor to make Almond FLOUR which I use for everything instead of regular old flour! It makes things taste GREAT!!! AGAIN TFS
Woooow Dani! This was awesome!!!! Patiently waited 48 hours for the almonds to soak. Completely worth it! I'm going to add dates next time. Almond milk is ridiculously expensive in the stores. Thank you so much! You and your channel are helping me make lifestyle changes. With much gratitude, Jas
Great, I have a huge package of almonds, and figured I'll need some other way to consume them all. Then I wondered how easy it is to make Almond milk. You certainly made it seem like a breeze. Simple, informative, wholesome! Can't wait to try it. Thanks!
I do the same. That’s what I’ve been taught from my pops but I didn’t know there was a reason to not blend the almond skin. Thanks for the info now I know and I’ll let my pops know. ☺️
I use the leftover almonds for my organic peanut butter banana oatmeal cookies. :) All you need for this recipe is literally those three ingredients. Add the leftover almonds - it does wonders to your tastebuds and your body!
I would use the left over almonds in... I litre full cream milk milk boil till it becomes reduces and thickens add sugar to taste In another pan take 1 tspn of pure ghee saute the almond for a while till the water dries then add to the , milk substance and mix and put it in a greased platter and flatten it Keep for 3 hrs. Cut into pieces..and eat it.. I love almonds
Thanks for the instructions and recipe - trying it right now. Like your ideas for leftover almond bits, will have to try them in pancakes. Also, I have pet chickens and I bet the almond bits would make a nice treat for them as well!
So glad I found your channel. I tend to buy almond milk and sometimes regular 2% fat free milk but I’m glad I saw this video. Can’t wait to try and make my own almond milk. Thanks!
Hi Danny, I just made my first almond milk. Not as creamy, but will work on it. Have no idea what to do with the pulp. For now Im putting it in the freezer. Thanks so much for your amazing channel.
It is extremely rare that I subscribe to a channel that's non-political or religious but you are AMAZING at what you do! Thanks so much!! ❤ Now I know what to do with my big jar of almonds.
I recently started to make my own almond milk and i find very easy to make and you choose what goes into it,i use it make my porridge really delicious ....and with the left over pulp i wash my face/ use it has a body scrub💯❤
I'm not sure if my location was disclosed, but I live in India so you should marvel at the reach and influence of your RU-vid channel. Furthermore, I can't cook but youtube channels such as yours and my own dietary choices (I'm Paleo & vegetarian) have got me interested in "clean and delicious" food that can be easily followed and adapted using local ingredients. I have a full time cook, who cant understand a word of English but has watched your videos, which I've translated for him, and he's made and perfected quite a few things; the Almond Milk is now a staple in my home.
Kinda long - here's the ultra-quick version: 0:36 Soak raw almonds in cold filtered water overnight 1:11 Drain, place in blender with 4:1 water:almonds 1:25 She adds 1tsp of vanilla extract and 1 pitted date for flavour (optional) 1:46 tiny pinch of salt 1:53 Blend for a 60-90 secs til fluid and frothy 2:40 Pour off through a strainer that's lined with a cheese-cloth 3:11 Lift the cheese-cloth out and try to squeeze out the remaining liquid 3:41 Store in air tight jar....and 3:46 lasts in fridge 3-5 days +4:00 (creative uses of the almond pulp leftover from the cheese-cloth)
Thanks for sharing, I stopped buying almond milk in the store. Thanks again, smiles. I use the pulp of the almond to add body to my smoothies. The only step I added was to use some warm water to remove the almond brown membrane. Also, I use the same process to prepare soy milk too - the only exception is that I boil the soy milk to break down the bitterness etc...
I always make my own almond milk!! I use no flavoring or sweeteners but dehydrate the almond meal & then put it in my high powered blender to make almond flour. If you bring your almonds to a boil, cool them & then take the skins off the almonds you will have a nice white flour, however, it can be used the same.
New to almond milk and am a big fan. If almonds weren't so expensive I'd try this, but I'll just keep buying it in the carton for now lol. Great video Dani thank you. Being new to clean eating your videos have been a huge help.
At $3.50 - $4 per 1/2gal . . . for commercial almond milk - - I think this is cheaper. @ Costco 3# of almonds for $13. One cup of almonds to 4 cups of water should produce about 4 cups of almond milk. Just not sure how many cups of almonds in 3#. And remember - your end product is pure.
I agree with ME. Check out the label of ingredients on your store-bought almond milk. There's a lot of stuff in there to preserve it and thicken it. Plus, you end up with the almond pulp with which you can do some much.
Presumably, you could make almond flour. That usually comes from blanched almonds. I'm not sure if this is the same thing or not. But with almond flour, if you're brave enough, you could always make french macarons.
There is also a traditional way to extract almond milk in india we don’t use blender we use traditional instruments and blend almonds. As most of the population is vegetarian in India this is primary source of protein for wrestlers in India
Never new about almonds.... We have a lot of it where I come from but never knew its very healthy. Just got a pack of and should make some milk out of it. Thanks for sharing this tip
Recipie: -Soak a handful of almonds over night in water -drain the water and remove the skin -blend the peeled almonds with a date -filter the extract and there you go
