Hi John, I'm not a florist but you've inspired me to start making simple arrangements for my children's & parent's graves. Also given to special friends. I love using wild flowers & natural foliage I find in the garden & when walking my dogs. Yesterday I made a small posy using Rosemary, Ivy, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Yew & white Roses - it smelled gorgeous. So a big thank you for your videos, I very much look forward to watching 🙏
Thank you John for your instructional videos! I am not a florist but love to give simple arrangements of flowers from my garden to friends in jars I save. A dear friend recently asked me if I would do the flowers for her sister’s memorial service. I actually lost some sleep worrying about letting her down due to my lack of training. Thankfully I found this post the day before I shopped for flowers at the market. Today was the memorial and I felt that it came off quite well. Phew! The pastor even took photos of my altar arrangement! Thank you!
Heidi Fehr that is such a nice idea to use jars to create floral gifts for friends - no wonder your friend asked you about memorial flowers! Thank you for your lovely feedback - and I hope you enjoyed making the altar design? She would love that you had created it as well. Keep up the good work 😀🙋🏼♂️
I did a lot of this style for my church. A favourite. Had lots of trees in the grounds for the greenery - pittosporum and monstera. Carnations, chrysanthemums, asiatic lilies were used a lot. I enjoyed it. Feasts, weddings and funerals.
Gorgeous! Nothing wrong with classical arrangements. To me, it never gets old. The beautiful colors gets attention, and the scent will draw them closer to the front.
Awesome. I am arranging this in my church tomorrow as it opens officially for worship after quarantine as thanksgiving. Again thanks for this beautiful idea
Beautiful, John. As a frequent altar flower arranger, I very much appreciate your arrangement, your choice of flowers, and the fact that you pointed out that distance in churches can be a problem. One learns these things often by doing. Your experience is valued. Once more, Bravo, Sir!
Me encantan tus composiciones, no entiendo nada, pero veo el resultado y me encantan, que linda habilidad y gusto por lo que haces, felicidades, desde Córdoba, Veracruz, México
Another very helpful demonstration. It’s great to be able to see how it’s put together but also gives a good idea of quantities for materials. Thank you.
I love love love this! It’s beautiful with just the greenery and then you add the lovely flowers and it is perfect. John, you always..’leave rooms for the butterflies’ which i think is so important. Thank you both once again x
Oh, my gosh, John. It's stunning! I love the peachy, creamy, and white flowers together with all the varieties of greens. Wow. I think it makes a very big impact and would be beautiful on an alter. THANK YOU. ;0)
I love watching you do these big arrangements. I absolutely love this..... I think I don't use nearly enough foliage when I try to make arrangement. My next effort will definitely include more! I love to use gyp as i think it adds a delicate effect and lightens the whole piece. Stunning as ever, John. I look forward to Tuesday evenings to see what wonder you create. ❤
Margaret Ferguson thank you! I do like foliage - it really frames the flowers you have, and there’s nothing wrong with a touch of gyp! Thanks for watching and commenting 😀🙋🏼♂️
Thank you, John, from all my heart ! Since last spring I am following your channel and would like to say that it is the best tutoring for me: clear-short -beautiful-with good taste and feeling of style! You gave me an inspiration to start decorating our Cathedral with flowers arrangements and bouquets. It is quite famous Church in south of France. We have many tourists visiting. And they often asking for permission to make just photo of flowers arrangements “ because it is unusually beautiful “( photos in the Cathedral is not allowed). God bless you! (If one day you could show how to make something interesting ( but still classical) in big floor martini vases ~ 70 sm h)🙏🏼
Elena Bonar hello! And hello to the south of France. That is great feedback and making flowers for a church or cathedral is a great way to create designs regularly. I am so glad your visitors like them. Thank you for your suggestion - I shall add that to my list of possible designs for videos. Best regards, John 🙋🏼♂️
Hi love your videos, so helpful for beginners. Can you show a demo using an alternative to oasis please as i am not having much success with chicken wire, thank you
Thank you! Yes! We have used some alternatives like chicken wire already - the main thing with that is creating a double layer so stems are supported in two different points and that the wire itself is secure in its container. But we can use this again I think for more designs 😀🙋🏼♂️
@@FlowerJoos Thank you, i would love to see you work it, ie especially with an arrangement with tall uprights and long side entrails as above video. I will keep trying to make it work :0)
@@jxsmileslots ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Ibryoo8hI0.html This is maybe useful for now? But we will use this some of the future videos 😀🙋🏼♂️
Me gustaría que subtitulen lo que dice en español 🙏para saber sus enseñanzas del tema de su trabajo, se lo agradecería mucho. Son una verdadera obra de arte !felicitaciones!
😍 meine Mutti liebt gelbe Rosen.
Thank you so much for your beautiful videos John, your arrangements are stunning and it is so incredibly helpful to have access to such a wealth of knowledge! 😊 One question I have is how you would tackle this without using floral foam? Thanks again! ✨
Hazel Oakie personally I would look for a shallow tray and then use scrunched up chicken wire as the structure in hitch to insert my flowers. You would have to tape the wire in or fix it in some way to the and container. Then make supper that al, the materials are into the water source. So you need to really pay attention to your materials and how you cut them 😀
Fermina De La Cruz hello! Thank you for watching. 😀 the tape is pot tape - you can get a wide or narrow one and in dark green or white. This is the wider green version. It just secures the film into the container and is pretty strong and waterproof. This is made by Oasis in the UK. I would think there are versions similar elsewhere. If not you can use cellotape. 😀🙋🏼♂️
Beautiful!!! It looks great with the gyp in the arrangement. Would you spray leaf shine on all the greenery before you place the flowers or just on the leather leaf?
Donna Carro the leaf shine is just a finish, so not a be necessary thing, but it does look nice. Yes, you could just spray the leatherleaf then add it in, or green the whole thing then spray before adding the flowers. Jus5 use it as you need it - so if some green is dull then this lifts it, up if you sora6 the who,e thing too heavily then it will not look so natural.
I just had a look at mine - they are ladies secateurs marketed at florists but have no name on them I’m afraid . I have had them for years, and they are very comfortable to use and handle thickly and thin stems well. You are right - some tend to pinch or nip you when you use them! So choose a nice shaped pair and not too chunky that you will find them awkward.
