I love that you used coat hangers for legs. Gives it a nice classic look. Looks great and sounds like it functions great with the draft.

I been using mine since I seen your video for my 2nd year and it works great in my 11 foot camper when it was 20 degrees below Im sweating inside I just vent my exhaust through the roof vent and place my wood stove on a piece of plywood that extends and clamped on my counter top works so great my buddies want me to build them one for their motorhomes and 5th wheels. Its been safe as long as you crack a window a little to keep the fresh air going. that little thing is the best thing on the planet it conserves wood and will heat my camper dang near all night turned down saves on propane too. Thanks for the Idea to bad you don't sell them

Swedwoods Oh, I’d love a titanium stove, too. Actually, I’m referring to the entire stove pipe made out of titanium. 1 meter, 2 meter etc. just folds up to a tube. Like folding up a poster. You just unroll it and it expands to a round shape. Liteoutdoors.com sells the titanium sheets however long you want. They also have examples of them on their site. Hope this helps.

I built one of these ammo can stoves and it worked well for my situation. Winter camping/hunting in a small truck camper at 25 degrees F. It would heat the camper to about 70 degrees F. Bad thing is because of the size of this stove, you have to build a very small fire, thus having to tend to it every 5-10 minutes.
@Swedwoods
@Swedwoods 6 лет назад
Yes I need to tend to it quite often but I use it to burn hard and do some cooking, get warm and dry inside the tent. Open full draft and let burn out. Prep for a burn with some birch bark and some hardwood. Go to sleep in a one season bag. Then if I get the chills in the early hours I just put a match in there and go back to sleep. This has worked fine down to -10C. Reflective ground cover is a must.

V.2 has been a much better design both aesthetically I.e. paint, self tapped screws, log grill tray, and functionally , I.e 4 legs(safer from tip over), cleaner flue bracing to box. Good job.
@Swedwoods
@Swedwoods 6 лет назад
Thanks! yes its better looking for sure. I built this in 1/3 of the time of course. But im not sure if the self tapping screws is better yet. a few of them came loose already in the second outing. just tightened them on site so no problem. but eventually a bigger dimension will be required and that would be a problem if out in the woods. I guess its the constant heating and cooling of the metal that makes them come loose. I believe the screw, bolt and washer keeps things better in place. And yes the four legs was better even though tripods is for the forest. If i dont find even ground i just push some bark, stick or stone or whatever to make it stand straight. This is not an issue really because the connection hole to the tent against the heat shield on the pipe makes the stove stand good even in high winds.

there are a few minor process changes i'd personally make. the first would be to media blast the paint instead of sanding, the second, would be welding the top and chimney outlet together. I know this is the way to do it without, but it is an ugly and unnecessary part. it does look really good though and the test video was great.
