Kinda shocked that you didn't enclose the jacket in the plastic connector, which has a piece on it designed to grab the jacket, making for a stronger cable. Did you really make a video on how to terminate an Ethernet cable without knowing that? Am I missing something?
Good video, but you piss me off. You do it so quickly and with confidence and the cable actually works. I have been doing it the old fashioned way; no pass thro connectors and it is very slow and not at all fun and you don't have any confidence until you plug it in and test it. Then you do it over and over again until you get it right.
Oh God, I almost invested 50 US Dollars on a fancy crimper thinking I needed that, thanks for your recommendations! As it turns out one should not repair ethernet cables the same way you would electric wire, it works for a while but afterwards the electric tape glue actually insulates the copper from within, breaking the signal, this is absolutely the way. Fuck sake these plugs are _so_ frustrating to use. Just spent four hours pushing the stupid cables in one-by-one with a paper clip. Whoever designed these _needs shot_ , they couldn’t have just had it open at the top for you to place them in? No, they just wanna make an electrician’s life hell. Lmao…that’s no criticism to the video though, this is a bloody great explanation…
So good to be able to hear clearly what you are doing, I tried the other cat5 connector and had a few problems being a novice, I think now I'll try the connector that goes right thru so I can see the wires. One question are cat5 and cat5e cables the same wiring as my home system is cat5 :)
Thank you for how to terminate RJ45 cat6 through connectors! I can use my crimper that doesn't trim the wires and I could just use a razor blade to cut it. I wasted a few regular rj45 cat6 connectors due to the cables were not passed by the data tester. It took me like 15-25 minutes to got it right properly.
