Oh my. I just watched about 5 videos on how to do this and I cannot believe how difficult and drawn out folks can make a simple thing. You really nailed this and did a great job of making Way too many long stories into shorter ones.

Thank you so much for sharing your method of covering my ugly ironing board. Your video was easy and provided the right amount of detail to get the job done. I have a rolling laundry hamper that has a ironing surface as the lid. I looked everywhere online to just order a new cover but I guess they have discontinued this item. It is a 17.5”x31” rectangle so I am going to give this a go and see what happens. Thanks again.

I need to do this for my sewing area. I have a corner of my mudroom where I sew. It could really use some brighten up. I got a serger for my 42nd birthday. I had been wanting one for so long it feels like a dream when I use it. So, I completely understand wanting any excuse to use yours. Another really appreciate sewing video! Thanks so much! :)

Good timing! Will be making this very soon. Thank-you... Well, a few days later, I have a drawn pattern, and a newly-completed cover. For the batting I used most of the sponge cover that I've grappling with for the past five years. Perfect recycling. And as for those tricky curves: I found some judicious pinning, basting, and the careful sewing down (by hand) of each 'dart' prepared the curves for the final sewing by machine. It took extra time, sure, but the result was no bunching up of fabric, and a smooth edge. What a relief to have a user-friendly cover at long last!

I like the idea of using thin binding instead of elastic or string. Stronger. I cut my fabric only 3" wider all around, but I think if I serge the edge instead of folding and sewing 1/4" of the fabric under and then 1" under as in some other videos I will be fine. Thank you so very much for the very simple to follow video. I'll have mine done in no time now.!

Really great video! Thank You Sew Much! ❤ I was just thinking the other day, I need a new cover for my ironing board. Wala, I stumbled on to this video after I was watching your ragged heart pillow, which I totally love to. I like your style the shabby chic look. You are a great teacher!❤ I do have a question. My ironing board is a bit on the thin side the thickness. What thickness of cotton batting should I use to fluff it up a bit? Also what brand is your favorite cotton shabby chic fabrics? Thank You again!❤ I just was thinking it would be nice if you could design a iron cover to mach your board. I think that would be a cool look and keep the dust of the iron. What do you think?
@TheSewingChannel
@TheSewingChannel Год назад
Thank you for the kind words Katherine. I would use a regular cotton batting cut to fit your board✅ I don't really have one fabric company that I like🤷🏻‍♀️ I buy from all places...and yes an iron cover would be cute❣️

Lovely! I need to cover a beautiful wooden tailor’s sleeve press that I found in a thrift shop for $3.99! It’s very old and the batting fabric disintegrated in the washer, even in a lingerie bag. (I expected this but gave it a shot anyway.) What do you recommend for under the top cotton layer? I was thinking about a thick batting under a layer of InsulBrite (to reflect heat)?
@TheSewingChannel
@TheSewingChannel 10 месяцев назад
Your idea is great✅ You could use almost anything as the batting as long as it doesn't burn....I would use a few layers of cotton batting🤷🏻‍♀️
