Orchids are some of the most beautiful and delicate plants out there, and getting them to re-bloom can be a challenge 🌸 But with a little know-how, you can help your orchid thrive and bloom again!
Here are some tips to keep in mind: Trim your orchid in the correct place to encourage new growth, and make sure to provide cooler temperatures to simulate the plant's natural environment 🌸 Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot and other issues.
With the right care and attention, you can help your orchid reach its full potential and enjoy its stunning blooms all over again! 🌸#orchids #frankieflowers #orchidcare

I agree with you, most people give them too much water and too much love, most orchids are killed because of too much love but they are hardy and tough :))

I actually bought all the orchids Metro was throwing out, cleaned the roots and placed them in water. A year later they loved it and came back gorgeous full of blooms. I fertilize them (the roots) once a month.

I was about to say that. Orchids actually thrive when they are "neglected"..

I neglected mine during the holiday season 😢 it wasn’t a great outcome at this end. Droopy leaves 😩 Mine was doing just fine being watered and fertilized on the regular. Until, it wasn’t.

Hi, thanks for making this video. Before I go ahead and prune my orchid stem. I just wanted to check is there any specific time to do this? Ie summer time or winter time? Or does this not matter with these plants?

I’m new at this and had no clue but what I did after all of the blooms came off I snipped off the stem where there was a node? And in late fall nothing was happening no new growth so I bit the bullet and cut it all the way down, cleaned up all the dark gnarly dry roots that I saw and left it alone. The only new growth I’m seeing are a lot of roots, the plant seems very happy and hardy and what I’ve decided to do is repot with some fresh orchid potting mix and moss and fertilize I haven’t done this before and I hope it’s the right thing to do. I do know that they are a low maintenance plant but very particular about sunlight they love it but it can’t be direct.

@@miaace5070 hey Mia, i tried to repot mine and all the leaves turned yellow and fell off! i royally messed it up 😪 - hope you have better luck with yours

@@immykhan215 You might be able to save it, when you repotted did you rinse the roots and remove all of the mushy and rotten roots? Also it’s a good thing to use hydrogen peroxide mist at the roots do not rinse. I was told by my grandma the first mistake people make when repotting is drainage and airflow holes on the side. I’m definitely going to order a new 5 inch clear pot so I can view the root system the pot that mine is in is black. Or it just could be very stressed give it a few weeks it’s crazy but they are quite resilient.

I never fertilize what is that? I’m from the old days where we use Peet’s. Is that what you mean. Mine bloomed really nice and I squirt it with a water bottle instead of pouring water in it at the roots, if they have a gray look to it. I managed to re-bloom one that came out really nice after two years. I have a white one now along with my old one. Can you tell us had a grow From a leaf

My orchid grew leaves on the old stem that I had cut back and it hasn’t bloomed. How do I make it bloom again?

Same, I received my beautiful orchid for Mothers Day last year the blooms lasted for several weeks maybe 2 months? They lost the blooms I cut the long stem all the way down, cleaned up the dark leathery roots that were coming out from the pot, I’m thinking of repotting you know? Maybe some really good orchid potting mix and fertilizer, I haven’t used any yet. The plant seems very happy it has tons of new root growth but no signs of any flowers? I hope I didn’t ruin it by cutting that long stem down. It was late fall and I figured well it doesn’t look like anything is going to happen I might as well let it enjoy the winter months and I’ll figure it out later. Now is later … I probably won’t be getting any blooms, I think what I will do though is buy another because they are so beautiful and hopefully by this time next year I’ll see some new blooms. 😊

@@miaace5070 so I’ve learned a lot! The leaves that grew on the stem after the flowers died off or called Keiki and they are baby orchids! If you have them just leave them and continue to take care of your orchid just like you’ve been doing. After you grow roots below those leaves, then you can cut it off and plant it just like you would repot an orchid and you’ll have a new baby orchid.!! I currently have to keiki’s now and I’m waiting for the roots to grow! Good luck!

@@rhondadunn4228 Thank you for responding, I sure wish I didn’t cut the stem all the way down now. But my plant seems very happy I wonder how long it will take for one to sprout? Only time will tell. ❤️

@@miaace5070 I have other orchids that re-bloom every few months so I would just sit it in a place where it gets good indirect light and water once a week and you will have blooms again in a few months! I also use the miracle grow orchid fertilizer spray every 2 weeks.
