Hey, I'm a bit late with my comment. I have found with small children and dogs having only a partially enclosed unit did not work well. Dogs got behind unit and decided to dig holes to lay in, away from the children. This made a huge mess and the unit had to be cleaned more often. My youngest even hid behind mine just playing, but sent me into a horrible frenzy. I made mine a little taller and 3 sided with a pin open and closure system to the side of the house. No hole digging, and no hiding! I enjoy your work, thanks for sharing! :)

I have a 4 yr old (Shelby) and 2 yr old (Lincoln) so I understand living in the moments and letting them help (or make a mess) but those are the days I live the most. You have a great channel and a great setup. (shop, yard and house). Also one thing I truly love. YOU DON'T SAY PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!. People watching you tube knows this but knowing you don't say it at all...... I had to subscribe to your channel and I rang that bell. Hahaha I would love to have a shop like yours and also would love to have a fun, informative, interesting you tube channel.

Chris, that is a much better design for a condenser cover. I was worried about the first one as it is too close and doesn't provide adequate air flow. I'm glad you are not having difficulty with it. In the future you may get comments from those who service the unit regarding the fence. I live in Arizona and we normally cannot put anything around our ac units due to the temperature. I am thinking about shadeing ours to see if that will improve efficiency. Since we get very little rain to wash our condenser it is required to spray out the condenser regularly. So using an easily removable fence looks like a great idea. Thanks for sharing 🙂 have a great day 😊

Pocket holes are great for almost 90-95 of projects. Dovetails, tenon and mortises, and other joinery are great for many things, but for quick assembly projects, especially for outdoor or shop projects, pocket holes are perfect. Although, for the corners I would've gone w/ 2x4 and used the longer pocket screws meant for exterior use. Also, your daughter is an adorable shop apprentice!
@AGlimpseInside
@AGlimpseInside 4 года назад
That’s a good point after I got the whole thing put together I thought to myself I could’ve just framed out two by fours and put the channel for the screen inside them. Either way I may have over complicated it but I think it should last a good long while. Or at least I hope so
@zafarsyed6437
@zafarsyed6437 4 года назад
@@AGlimpseInside It definitely will last- especially w/ exterior paint... errr I take that back- shop apprentices have a habit of taking breaks and love to kick soccer balls at anything and everything I've ever built for outdoor use... even when told not to do so, but hopefully yours listen better! Will you be putting in grass, mulch, pavers, or garden bed in that dirt patch next to the shop?

I use pocket holes for a lot of my builds such as cabinets and face frames. Only in about 1 in 10 cases do they end up somewhere that they could be seen. In that case, cover with veneer. In my entire house you can't see any pocket screws anywhere. I have used well over 1000. They really pull joints together nicely. In some cases such as face frames I combine with biscuits on the bottom. All work well.

Chis, I'm in Middleburg so know how hot it can get and how much AC can mean to a comfortable work shop. I'm curious, did this lattice enclosure help dampen sound as much as your solid box version you did for the house? I realize they are different size units but thought you might have noticed. I've got a loud whole house generator that is as loud as a ride around mower and want to dampen it a bit so sound level is important. Instruction call for nothing closer than 10ft from the exhaust vent but intake air is OK even with closer walls.
@BRYANderek743
@BRYANderek743 2 месяца назад
I'm hoping you read your a/c unit manual to find out the exact distance you should be putting up even vented walls for airflow. If not, you could be violating your a/c warranty & cause your unit to wear down the sooner than later. I just had a new side-discharge heat-pump installed & the manual was very clear not to put up anything within a certain distance that could inhibit airflow - including vented walls, like yours. I want to put a roof over mine to shade it. So, I'll go by my manual & eventually build one. I'm just not as good at building stuff, like you are. I tend to put off projects, like this... lol

I use pocket screws on most projects requiring a frame. Even with as much space as you allowed you cause some hot air to recirculate raising the temperature that the unit operates in,there by reducing the efficiency of the system. All of that said I am a service technician who is opposed to all most all of the covers, but that’s me, this one is better than most.
