I literally just ate this sandwich today. I used a kaiser roll. I literally said OMG, OMG out loud. Amazing sandwich. And this was my second try of this sandwich. I remembered liking it, but this one was the bomb. Fuck. RIP AB, you're missed. Thank you for all you did.
Not for nothin', but, you do need a nice soft, fluffy roll and use the oil from the mort to lightly grill the roll. Also, the version that I saw him do he mixed the mayo and mustard into a sauce. Either way, you can't hardly mess it up. Looks great!
When you sear the meat it releases a lot of the moisture. And what you are left with is a flavor bomb. I'd revise the recipe to suit my tastes mozza instead of provolone and whole grain mustard instead of the Dijon
It sounds delicious (well, I know it is; but, really, it's to much). Cut some of the Mortadella and add some arugula and lettuce. It's much better and you'll hate yourself less.
i grew up with this sandwich...usually on ciabatta (or an english muffin!)...did the mayo, but never thought to add a dollop of dijon on there, too...my mouth is watering just thinking of the zing!...will try soon
The edges on my mortadella became hard and chewy. Did I cook too long (4-5 min) or should I peel off the edges or did I get the wrong mortadella (without pistachios)
I love Anthony Bourdain, but when he said, the most horrible thing he is ever eaten, was a chicken nugget from McDonald’s………… I am going to have to fight that one and say mortadella is the most gross lunchmeat out there on the menu👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 RIP Tony❤️❤️❤️

Considering that his cursing was a tip of the hat to Anthony, it wasn’t out of place for him to swear like that. Anthony was a hero to a lot of us and we get passionate about him. So, do us a favor and take your delicate sensibilities and fuck off. Especially since you didn’t “get it”.
