Actually you shouldn't hang the skirt from that because it will put a lot of weight on your shoulders which will tire (is that the right spelling?) them out faster which will make your melee slower and harder to do, the Vikings found this out with their chain shirts and used to put a belt on over it at the waist to take some weight of their shoulders.

That crusader paint job is so awesome. What about making a crusader-style apocalypse helmet? Like with that gold cross across the faceplate. I want this to happen so bad.

When using rivets for an armor or wearing something on your body, use rivets designed for this. You can pick them up in the leather section at Hobby Lobby!

If you wanted to be the Jesus of protection to your torso you should totally wear a gambason underneath all yo equipment

hey eli, longtime fan. couple of suggestions: 1) rivets on your shoulders are a bad idea. any metal with a clear path to your collarbone is potentially a broken collarbone. consider sewing some extra padding on the suspenders. 2) instead of riveting the pads to your leather belts, try just tying them on with some leather strips. that belt will stretch over time and the fit won't be as good as it is now, but if they're tied on, it's easy to adjust the fit later. TIA for reading :)

You should send pictures of the 'before' and 'after' of all the pads and equipment you used from that company to them and a letter thanking them for making such awesome gear which worked perfectly for your desired repurposing. While no guarantee, I'd bet they'd get a kick out of it and might send you some free stuff to have some more fun misusing the heck out of. ;-) Great channel, thanks for posting.

You should look into getting and using Chicago screws instead of the rivets that you're using. They're easy to use and very tidy looking as well as strong. You can find them at most leather craft stores

Hey ZNA I've got some tips for you to increase the life of gear like this. I've done really similar setups in the past for suspending armour, a crucial tip you should keep in mind when working with woven materials like nylon for example or with webbing in general: When your poking holes through it instead of spearing it with the hobby knife or drilling it, use a red-hot rod like a bolt welded to a longer insulated handle like an old screwdriver, reason for this is if you don't the material will start to frey and unweave, eventually cuasing a failure of your anchor point. Another solution for working with lighter materials like when I'm riveting armour to my flakvest is to spear the hole like your doing now, but instead of using a heated implement to melt through, just put a decent amount of superglue on the back of your backup washer(s) when riveting this material it will do the same thing as melting through if not even mroe effect to prevent it from unraveling with movement and being pulled.

When I have the money I totally want to put a suit of this armor together. Show up at a Con or maybe at a rally dressed in a real suit of armor. Though I may do just a shiny silver finish. But I do like the crusader look, so I'm conflicted. Thanks for all the awesome videos man.

DUde, I'd KILL to do a collab with you at some point. I've been doing this kind of armor fabrication since I was 12. Steel, leather, composite materials, welding, smithing in general, metal casting, MAN that'd be dope!

One thing I'd suggest is using hog rings as they allow articulation and make it quicker to put on

you should have folks that make your gear take selfies and show them on an episode it would be cool to see some of the stuff folks made with your ideas.

Should have painted the snap shells white with a red trim around the edges cuz I feel like that would have looked really good over the metallic it also goes with the Crusader paint job on your chest piece

Never realized how close we live to each other.

I always smash the foreskin looking side of the rivets down with a hammer. Idk If the smashing causes the rivets to be less strurdy, but I have a armor skirt I made years ago and it's still holding good :)

Idk why, but the armor looks like something that would be on a Payday game.
