A few weeks ago, I showed you how to make an ApotheScary Medicine Cabinet for your spooky bathroom! Today, I'm going to show a simple DIY project for making the ApotheScary Bottles to put in it! I hope you will enjoy this Gothic diy project whether you use it for Halloween decorations, to decorate your haunt or for spooky year round living!

This was absolutely wonderful - how clever actually functioning apothoscary bottles... I would have given hints in the labels though so you can find things easility. lIke Bleeding sores for bandages, skull dust for aspirin...and so on. To keep from constantly opening bottles to find something, you could put little labels on the bottoms that list what's inside. I love Secret deodorant too. Works great, smells good!

Fun fact: I'm an HP salesperson by day and artist by night! Watching the photoshop and printing bits made me happier to see than most people will get, lol! But I'm definitely gonna keep this in mind, I've been looking for ways to make my candles nice and spooky! And hey, deodorant is needlessly gendered anyway, I use Old Spice's Wolfthorne! XD

Yeah me too. Creative names for practical things. Since you can add any text you want, put "Laudanum" on the pain meds jar, put "Mummy Wraps" on the bandaid jar, put "Anti Plague" on the hand sanitizer, etc.

Spooky bathroom tip for anyone reading! Keep an eye out for things in black that you wouldn't expect to be that colour. Daiso here sells pitch black Q tips, I've seen black tissues before but don't recall where, and I've been on the lookout for a black toothbrush without coloured stripes or bristles. They're not exactly display items but they're things commonly stored visibly for convenience and it looks surprisingly nice when they all match like that.

Absolutely! I'm a fiend for leopard print, so I buy what I can use, but display as much as I can. My partner is so mad the cotton buds in our bathroom are only for show. We have plain ones to actually use.

I heard Modge Podge works for the labels. One coat to stick, one coat to protect and it dries clear. And you can wash w/o them wearing off.

I thought about that too, or spray laquer maybe. Maybe brushing on mod podge smears inkjet ink though? I have a vague memory of that happening to me but not sure

I used modge podge and scrapbook paper to decorate flasks. Normal modge podge gives a little protection, but not much. It's essentially very thick Elmur's glue. They make an outdoor safe modge podge I want to try next time.

Modge podge breaks down when exposed to moisture. It’s best to use an acrylic top coat.

Oh sweetheart you should have used water slide paper, white not clear. Runs through your printer just like photo paper but before applying you spray with clear coat spray paint. They will also lay smooth against the glass unlike photo paper or even the shipping labels that have a bit of thickness. If you've never used water slide it's great! The bottles came out freaking awesome.

I love spooky glass bottles. But realy dont have as much use for everyday stuff like spooky jars. My one thing id suggest is testing the jars first to see what fits first and then making labels fit the theme. Like "Werewolf fur treatment" for shaving products, and "human face remover" for facial cleaning or make up products.

How to find out "quickly" what is in which bottle? Just stick a label under each bottle with a short description of what it contains. The bottles turned out to be exquisite indeed. Greetings from Northwest Mexico.

One thing that I really love about this show is that it often focuses on decorating things that only you will see. Most decorating shows I follow are all about making your home nice for visitors, but gothic homemaking really is about making things nice for yourself and I think that's really cool. You should love living in your own home!

For adhesive, you can also water down some PVA glue, place the label on the bottle and layer the glue mix over the top. It'll also add some shine to the label in case you don't have gloss paper.

tips for knowing what are in the tins ! I just labeled under the bottles and tins, what is it inside, so I just have to watch under the package to know what is inside, it doesn't change the visual of the final touch, but you know what you have very quickly. I hope it helps !

Years ago when my kids where little my son broke a glass jar in the bathroom and then cut his foot and I cut mine. No more glass in the bathroom. I now save plastic food jars from peanut butter, Nutella, bouillon, etc. I remove the labels, wash them, and then spray paint them.

Painting the corks really did change the vibe more than I was expecting. I think I would have painted them silver so they matched the silver lids on your $0.99 store jars, but the black really makes them almost invisible.

For the round bottles, print out some of those silhouettes, cut them out and hit lightly with silver spray paint.

Lol working at an office supply store in their copy and print department, I could instantly tell those first labels weren't going to work because they're meant for a lazer printer not ink jet. Keep in mind for the future, love!

for labels, if you don’t mind the shine of laminating sheets you could use those for the fronts of your bottles so if you splash anything on them on accident the ink won’t run. there’s also a matte option, but i’m not entirely sure if it will compromise how dark your inks look on that glossy paper. it also might run a little pricy if you can’t find paper size sheets and just buy rolls.

Very nice! I've done much the same. Being more NeoEdwardian than Goth, I just left mine clear which makes things easier but I actually dumped the pills out of their original bottles into mine. Probably not officially recommended but the bottles are clean and labeled. I think glass is glass, even if it is not "food safe." I wash them with very hot water and dish soap, rinse them well, and then sanitize them by filling them with water and adding a denture cleaning tablet. Those are great to have around for cleaning decanters and flower vases that you can't easily scrub, too. You could boil them if you thought you should. Putting labels on with rubber cement is messier but makes it easier to take off later, if you want to. Spraying your label sheets with clear lacquer after you print them would make them water resistant, if not water proof. I've managed to find a few antique bottles but they are generally fantastically expensive. You can also get new bottles with glass stoppers from laboratory supply companies but larger sizes are pricey there, too.

I'd use an Avery digital label maker and put labels on the bottom of the bottles and jars so it's easier to tell what's inside. You can even download font packs if you're feeling fancy.

Since they can't get wet you'll need to be careful with bathroom labels. Maybe you can use some kind of waterproof gloss to prevent that? The bottles look lovely. This is something I'll have to try whenever I get my own place.

It is ok Voltaire. My husband uses Dove women's deodorant. He works in a semi-outdoor capacity in a blue collar factory job in the South and swears that toiletries designed for women are better and protecting against heat irritation that men's products. I love your goth decor vids. Not my style, but they give me a wealth of ideas for my goth neice. I did love how you showed off the more green natural goth items in another vid. Very Vulture Culture.

One of my favorite DIY videos so far, and I am all about the DIY! You might be able to paint your bottles with Outdoor formula Mod Podge. It isn't WATERPROOF, meaning you couldn't submerge the bottles, but they should hold up fine in a humid environment like a bathroom.

You could make a list of what's in each bottle or jar in a tiny font, print it on the label paper, and stick it to the back of the containers where it won't be seen. You cold go so far as to use a black border and tinker with the design to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Capital project once again! I’ll suggest that One might be able to write in tiny writing with a soft lead pencil or thin silver marker on the glass bottle what is hiding in the container on the backside. Not glaringly visible unless up close or if one is rummaging. Make it look like a manufacturer’s trademark stamped into the glass and then rub it away later if one manages to regularly remember or if the contents change. Second suggestion, if feeling still creatively inclined... Clean a deodorant applicator or two and spray bomb it, as is your way, Make a label and cover over with clear adhesive shelf paper or book tape if size is right. When you buy new product just wind out and switch covers and wind in. Doesn’t touch your skin or product.

Covering your labels with clear matte contact paper cut a little larger than the printed paper will help protect them from water damage, humidity, and general wear and tear

I stopped using Secret and moved on to Dove- its less toxic and I ruined too many black tops. Works as good, but always aware there is aluminium if you go with anti perspirant the no. 1 cause for Alzheimer’s. I wear deodorant at home and anti perspirant if going out. Spared my health a bit I hope.

Mod Podge makes a waterproof version you could easily use on top of the labels, it dries clear and has mat or gloss finish options for anyone wanting to be able to wash theirs.

$3.50 (and below) is a pretty good price for those classic clear glass bottles with the cork lids. The aesthetic has me squealing with delight! So many potions to make, so little in my pocket to make them with. ); I admire anyone who can use the Adobe Suite. You're going to be using that printer more often. Love you!

a spooky jewelry box or similar would work wonderful for the remaining items! It could be label as pandora's box or something spooky if you wanted. I need to do this to my things asap

No worries about the deodorant. My grandfather used to steal my (ladies) perfume and I use men's scented soap. Works both ways!

You could do an Alice in Wonderland inspired hang-tag style label on the round bottles...doesn't have to say "drink me"🤔🤣👍

I've learned my lesson. Don't play the drinking game while having this show in for background sound. I didn't realize until the 3rd episode that I had the playlist 😅 I can't leave my house now

Alright- those labels turned out SO good! But I have a tip for you.I used Epson photo paper alot and found several ways to seal them. Spray varnish was the best. Non yellowing, matt or semi gloss Krylon clear. You can still do it but you have to wrap your bottles and give 2 coats drying in-between. Test one out flat first. I used fixatif first on the printout so varnish won’t melt your ink. Super light coats. Those printers are the best they never die! I want this medicine cabinet👌🖤

I had been wanting to get in to replacing packages with jars and spooky boxes but had too many ideas and could not narrow down where and how to start. Thank you for the dark path to trek on my journey to apothecary bliss!!
