Love you two, great material. Apparently the US Navy just blew up the Nordstream 1 & 2 pipelines. The 6th Fleet is currently conducting BALTOPS 22 off the coast of Denmark, which includes testing of unmanned underwater mine demolition vehicles. This represents an escalation in the proxy war between US/NATO and Russia/China. How will Russia respond?

Stacy, thank you for all your videos about ferments, loved reading your fermenting book & watching your videos, going to try to make fire cider this week. When you freeze those it may kill the natural bacteria that help the fermenting process. ask Stacy from Off Grid with Doug & Stacy what yeast she recpommends use in that case. You can still do it but may need to add a yeast culture to it.

I saw you were going to freeze your cores, I have a thought for you. I make gnat traps with sugared water and a fruit slice, some times banana, some times apples. I have noticed on more than one occasion that the mixture had turned to vinegar. My thought is don't freeze them, just make an ongoing batch. As you get more cores, just add them to your earlier batch. 😉

Hey Stacy, just FYI: vinegar & baking soda mixed (stored in a small container, kept in medicine cabinet or under the sink) applied a small amount on a bee sting as fast as possible and it will completely neutralize the sting! I learned this at camp in NC in the early seventies. Works great on yellowjackets and they can sting more than once!!!

@@ArtByWendyKlein I love plantain. I make balms and salves with it. But last summer a red wasp snuck up and stung my hand, I grabbed a leaf (I have plantain growing all over my property) crushed it between my fingers and rubbed it on. Like magic the pain stopped! I've been sold on it ever since. I use the salve on my achy knees, my neighbors use it for their arthritis. I use mullein flowers in olive oil for ear aches. Last year I brought a spire home and scattered the seeds in a large pot and this year I had my own supply. I also have burdock plants with monster size leaves. They work great laid on sunburns. Picked, washed, wilted in hot water then cooled.

I love this network of like-minded people and I always come away with good ideas!! This past Sunday I got stung by a yellow jacket - I alternated baking soda/water, and activated charcoal poultices. I first saw how to make vinegars on Heidi's Rain Country Channel. The past few months I've been experimenting. I do small batches. So far, I've made vinegar from banana peels, peaches, and mangoes. The apple one is almost ready. I do stir mine every day for two weeks, then, let it sit another two weeks. I use wet tshirt material in my strainer to get everything out. I then put a lid on it and put it on the shelf in my dark pantry. So far, I have to say, I really enjoy cooking with the banana peel vinegar. It really enhances the flavor of my sauteed Squash, onions and Zucchini.

@@Emunah317 Yes, ma'am. I strained out my apple one last night. That was my first apple one. Wow! It's strong! Smells so wonderful! For the banana peel one, I get organic bananas. (I make small batches). I'll cut up the peels of 2 bananas into small pieces, add about 1/4 cup sugar, and pour in some distilled water. I like to stir with a wooden chopstick. Lol. It's easy because I cut everything in small pieces. The peach one is the same way. It's a really pretty color. But I don't like the peach as much as I thought I would. Also, there's a raisin one that Heidi makes that looks yummy. I think that's her main one for cooking. She makes flower vinegar for her hair rinse that I want to try as well.

Thanks Doug and Stacy. I just put some apples in the dehydrator and made 2 batches of apple cider vinegar with the leftovers. I used it as a biology project for my 10th grade homeschooler. Love you guys❤

Perfect timing! Posted 3 days ago but I didn't receive notification. Just asked my daughter this morning to see about picking me up some organic apples to make applesauce and I've already been freezing my peels and cores instead of the compost pile. I've made it before but I like your tips better😁 ty.

Ok so I’ve started my apple cider vinegar today! I’m over on the south coast of the UK! Loving your channel, you guys are so inspiring. This was my first year of growing veg, so rewarding. Only got a medium size back garden, but it’s enough to be learning until we find a home with more land. Love you guys! Keep on going!

Thanks… This is my 2nd year, with last year doing 15 (1/2 gallons), this year probably double that since my fruit trees came in. My very favorite is rosemary, rose and lavender. So far 3 of those started. Thanks for sharing your joy!! ❤

I started my first backchat on 9/21, just strained it and sealed it and placed it in the cupboard for a longer ferment….thanks Stacy, I’ve learned so many fun ways to be self reliant and resourceful with what appears to be scrap’s from my cooking.

I'm almost at the 2 week stage, I started my ACV the day you did the live video. I had to look for what to do next and I need to wait 2 more weeks. I'm glad I clicked on this video because that parchment paper/ baking paper idea is awesome! I wish I knew that sooner lol. I used to buy acv so I'm so excited to be making my own. thank you Stacey ❤❤❤❤

Love watching your videos. Stacy, you are so positive and encouraging. I have been taking apple cider vinegar for years in the morning and evening. I think I am going to start adding just a teaspoon before meals to change it up a bit, because I got burned out using 2 TBS at a time in the morning. I had never thought about being able to make it myself till I watched your video. Thanks so much for posting. I am on my own beginning healing journey. I have lost 80 pounds over the last 6 years and still have 50 to lose. Yes, that's a lot of weight, but I was grossly overweight and probably near death at a young age. ACV is one of the keys that helped me get my gut health on the right path. I watched this when you first posted it and began my vinegars, since we were preserving from our trees at that time. I made pear vinegar too. Just strained up the first batch of pear vinegar and now am excited to let it sit and see what it does. Just used the last of our apples this weekend for some chutney and made two more gallons. Thanks again!

I’m so excited!! I made this 2 months ago after buying apples from the orchard. I froze the apples for apple pie and used the scraps to make vinegar. Tonight, I just divided the vinegar and scoby from the apple scraps. The scoby is so cool!! I did it!! Now I have it ready to sit and ferment for the next 3 months. Thank you for showing us how to make it!!! 🍎 🍎🍎🥰

It's almost apple harvest here now in the Garden of Ontario, Norfolk County. I've just gleaned Montmorency Cherries for freezing and jamming, and I'm going to make some vinegar of them, as well. As soon as apple harvest comes, I'll glean from the orchards and make my own vinegar, as you said. Thanks for the tip about cane sugar. now to hunt some down. I've been watching you folks for some time now and appreciate all you're doing and educating us in. Thanks!

I have been making apple cider vinegar for a while now. I have never let it sit with a cloth on it once I strained the apples. I am trying it this way now! So I will see in 4 or so months if there is a difference in what I use to do and this method! Very excited! Thank you!
