Like how you began the video by showing viewers the most typical use of long bar clamps for us woodworkers! They don’t need to be extremely strong for a glue up of panels nor for 95% of any other woodworking application they may be used for. These clamps seem to be your best design and are much easier to build. You are always trying to help your audience understand so that we can “build it” easily ourselves. Thanks, it’s appreciated!

Hey John i think these are the nicest diy bar clamps on RU-vid one of my biggest reasons for the comment is they simply do not look homemade but look like something that may have been commercially available to Woodworking professionals in the past thanks for another great design and a good video on the build i enjoy the details you show and the advice/comments you offer in them

John, I've watched most of your videos over the years. Very impressive and I love your no nonsense approach. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make these plans and provide us with them. Very ingenious. Thanks so much for the effort and time you spent.

Couldn't agree more with your comment - superb quality not only of the product but also the really lovely production of the video - that was like watching a 15 minute movie, manna from heaven when you're into this kind of thing! Thank you.

Thank you John. Nicely done. I just bought the plans even though I'm advanced enough in my woodworking journey that I could make them by just watching this video. I bought them because I've been watching your videos for many years now and appreciate you keeping it real and honest. I have some RU-vid content myself, and I know it's often a thankless job. So here's my $8 and a thumbs up for a Thank You.

I must have one helluva table saw...that part shocked me. I've got an 80s vintage Delta/Rockwell Model 10 Contractor's Saw with a Forrest 48T full kerf blade and cherry, maple, oak...butter...all cuts pretty consistently. Now two weeks ago when the blade and fence were way out of alignment resulting in the back end of the blade pinching the work against the fence...yeah...there was some struggle there...but now that the blade and fence are parallel to the table mitre slots to within 0.0015"... it's a gem. I've also gotta point out that my heart stopped a couple times when I saw the workpiece start to climb up the back of the blade...yikes!

@@jensdavidsen4557 i honestly think its the blade he is using. I was helping my younger brother do some trim for a baot he is building and his saw has almost no power. We put his 6 inch small kerf blad on and had none of the binging issues that we where having with the big blade. thats why you see the burn marks. "work blades seem to rip though everything with no damage to the blade but seem to have more issues with bnding and upkick like that.

good to see you have figured the advantage of a piece of mdf covered with melamine in the bottom of the thickness planer. I have used this method for many years and find it not only decreases friction but it almost eliminates snipe. 1/4" melamine covered mdf also makes a nice top for the table saw when the insert is not perfect or you need a zero clearance insert.

I've watched this three or four times now, and I'm still just taken back about how beautiful a wood clamp can be! :) I appreciate the amount of attention and detail you put into your plans and your videos, especially for us novices out here. I've built your large k-body clamps and use them all the time. I can't wait to make these some day. My "woodshop" (haha - garage) is starting to like like it's Heisz designed. Wait, if you saw my shop you'd be insulted that I said that - so never mind :D Also, just made your table saw fence - amazing. Thanks, John!

My first career I was a steel fabricator/welder. I cut miles of aluminum with just a standard circular saw with a carbide blade. Never had any problems with that. Of course it would be smart to wear a face shield because sometimes with heavy use a carbide tooth would come off the blade.

Strength is like the number of clamps you have: never enough, and in fact you apply more clamps to achieve more strength to hold things together. They are really fine woodworking, but in the end, I prefer steel pipe.

In future, you may want to make your step jig so that it accommodates the router without it having to be removed each time you advance the jig. Just a broad surface at the end where you start and finish with the router cross cut and a counterbalance at the other end or have it flat on the bench either side. That way you can keep the router running at the start position and not have to keep lifting it off and on for each cut. It's evident from the video timelapse that taking the router on and off for each cut is expensive. Great work.

Nice build John , however I made somehow similar long clamps but faced a problem where the notchs kept chipping , maybe I was tightening too much or the wood wasn't hard enough , so I had to make holes in the moving part and through the bar every two inchs or so but not exceeding the length of the threaded metal bar and inserted a moving dowell , that made it stronger.
