Enjoy your homemade besan laddus as a delicious sweet treat!
Ingredients:
1 cup besan (gram flour)
1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1/2 cup sugar (adjust according to taste)
2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional, like almonds, cashews, or pistachios)
Instructions:
Roasting the Besan
Heat a heavy-bottomed pan or kadai on low-medium heat.
Add ghee to the pan and let it melt completely.
Once the ghee is melted, add besan (gram flour) to it.
Stir well to combine the besan with the ghee.
Cooking the Besan:
Continue to stir the besan mixture on low-medium heat. The besan will start to change color and release a nutty aroma.
Keep stirring continuously to avoid burning and ensure even roasting. This process will take about 20-25 minutes. The besan should turn golden brown in color.
Adding Sugar:
Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down slightly.
Add powdered sugar to the roasted besan mixture. Adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste preference.
Making Laddus:
Mix everything well until the powdered sugar is evenly distributed.
Allow the mixture to cool down until it is comfortable to handle.
Take a small portion of the mixture in your hands and shape it into round balls (laddus).
If desired, you can press some chopped nuts into the laddus while shaping them.
Continue shaping laddus with the entire mixture.
Tips:
Make sure to roast the besan on low to medium heat and stir continuously to prevent burning.
The laddus should be shaped when the mixture is still warm but cool enough to handle.
You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of powdered sugar used.
