Hi Billy, i must say your channel is Awesome! You make it fun & I've learnt a lot.. I spent 35 years chasing Carp & thought to myself, what the hell am I doing this for? All for a fecking photo!! With the way things are, I geared myself up & went out & caught myself a 5lb bass, Dam tasty it was! Now my love of fishing has more of a purpose! Not spending countless nights money & energy for a dam picture! Keep em coming billy, your a star & the gory details you should include as it's all part of it! Peace Ben
Informative, funny, down to earth video. Infact the whole channel. Its brilliant to watch someone who's happy to put in the effort and show others how to do the same 👊 respect brother 👊🎣
Much the same only just come across your channel recently ,and have found it really entertaining but most importantly educational . Iam a decent age and some of the simplest hints and tips you are giving are so helpful , Thanks Billy
Thanks for that Billy, you just saved me a packet, with the price and scarcity of rag and blow worms, the only frozen lug as you know are the black lugs, so great educational video, keep up the good work.
Thanks Jim, it's so hard to get bait in the winter. And hard to get a fish as well, the last thing you need is to spend loads of money and a blank session, see you on the beach brother 👍😁
Brilliant Billy (as usual). It's mainly blow on the beaches where I pump with the very odd Black so this 'How Too' will come in very handy. I have been simply salting them in the past with very limited success so the chances are it was the cocktail bait that caught the odd fish. I enjoy the How too's as much as your fishing adventures Billy so keep them coming.👍👍
So you went all the way to Denmark to pump worms 😉 I put the worms in boiling water imeadily turn down the heat(water temperature about 85-90 degree celsius)give them 4to5 minutes .An then i drain them cool them down, wrap them and in the freeser They are nealy as fresh worms in consistence, they fish as good, and leftovers from a fishing trip Can be put back in the freeser for reuse Nice Channel by the way
Had my first go at this today. Was also some white harbour rags so tried them but not really any guts in them. Hopefully a bass will take a liking to them on a "billy worm hair"
Hi bud. I have never had any success with ragworm of any kind. The only thing you can do is salt them. But the log worm you prepared will catch anything. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Just got through my Fri evening fix of BF after watching a 🎬 🎞 🎥 with my daughter, your intro had us both 😆 and now she's keen to come and join in on the next bait pump session👌 . Winner winner ,,,Codling Dinner 🤙🤙
Good stuff. When I vacuum pack fillets I place in zipper bag and then submerse in bucket of water up to zipper and then seal. The water pressure forces excess air out of the bag.
Great stuff, frozen blow In my opinion are much better than black for codling. Funny to me... While you were doing the acupuncture bit I could smell lugworm, I thought how strange. Then I remembered I've just been sorting my bait freezer and the smell was me 🤣🎣👍
Came across your channel about a week ago. Brilliant mate, really enjoyed your content so far. I’m particularly interested in the hair and circle hook set up. I normally just fish a J hook with a circle above swivelling around. I’m for sure going to try your arrangement. Keep them coming billy, all the best mate
Hi Nicky, glad you like my channel buddy, the hair works so well for rays sharks of all sizes flatties too, still not sure about cod, fish on Brother 👍😁
Love youre films youre a star , i cant see in the info where you are in norway I live (unfortunately) in Sweden a come to norge a lot for the great fishing
Hello Billy, gave your method a try on Tuesday evening on Benone beach, caught 7 flounders and a turbot my usual fishing buddy fished there on Monday evening with a few others there was 22 rods fishing fresh rag and lug they had 6 fish between them, so Billy’s frozen blow lug out fished the fresh stuff thank-you, so keep the hints and tips coming
Hi Ronnie, great to get some feedback, they are fantastic bait. When I was selling the worms, the lads only wanted the frozen ones, not the fresh ones. And you hooked a turbot, nice!! Fish on Ronnie 👍😁👌
Hitting the ground running this year heading in to Cod season. Doing this with Lug, the ones on my local beach are like snakes. Have a trip planned Macky bashing, and I'm hunting peelers. Going to try the circle hook and hairs this year, always thought big baits and J hooks masked the points. Probably still catch bugger all, but keeps me busy!
Hi Nigel. even if you don't catch, you will save alot of money and that all ways good. If you have any questions about the hairs just ask. See you on the beach 👍😁
Hey Billy, two quick questions. 1 Why not salt the worms entirely without the holes poked in them and 2 why don't you use your vacuumcleaner to suck the air out. Seems much easier to me.
The worms are likely salted, the halls are poked in them. Because they keep more of their scent, and realism. Because the fluid from the worms will get into the vacuum cleaner. I'm not everybody likes that!
If you dont have a vaccum pump of anykind just have a bucket of water nearby to dip the vaccum seal bag into the water before closing it and it will get rid of alot of the air in the bag.
Hi Ashy. But the vacuum is not just to get air out, it's more to get the water out. You will still need squeeze the water out first, and then put the bag in the water. Thanks for writing in, always good with some new ideas 👍😁
I have limited success pumping blow lug in the summer. They go deeper down in the winter, so I would imagine it to be much harder. But I'll give it ago, I have the exact same pump as you have. It is all about getting the right angle and the right hole and cast.
Hi Bob, if you get on average of 30 to 40 in an hour, you are on the right track. Depending on the tide and weather, they will be at different depth, I have a video called how to pump lug worm 101. I am sure it will help, thanks Brother 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch actually thinking about this. Digging worms in the rain is a lot harder as the sand has a lot of water in it and the fork picks up less bulk sand. Pumping in the rain may help to get the worms out.
Hi Billy do you think you could do a quick vid on a simple bass set up for an estuary angler? Me and my sons are just getting into it and would really appreciate some advice. Thanks. James
Hi James. I have not done very much estuary fishing in my life! My bus fishing always took place on surf beaches. Mostly at the entrance to estuaries. There I would fish simple flapper rigs and pulley rigs in the gollis in front of the surf. You don't need to cast more than 10 or 20 meters or use very much lead. Just two or three ounces we'll do the job. Baits were lugworm, ragworm, peeler crab . That has bag me quite a few doubles over the years. I hope this is of some help to you. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Before now have simply wrapped them in fresh newspaper each day removing any dead worms. Which ive found firms them up a bit and have kept them for 4-5days at a time. Am going to have to try this though, as i was told salting or freezing worms only works well with blacks, that blow lug go like mush when defrosted so ive never tried.
Here in Kerry Ireland our beaches are not suitable for the bait pumps and I'm useless at the digging, I could try for an hour and only get 2 or 3 worms and be wrecked so I just buy them. I figure if I actually lived in Kerry which I don't, I just go there for fishing id be better. Useful to know this trick though.
Thanks Billy boy .tryed freeze my left over worms after a fish .Ive tryed a few way salting ect as seen ithers do on here .But never seems to work .when I defrost them they just full in bit . This looks more promising. Will give this way a go. Cheers 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I was told that pumping doesnt work in Ireland as the sand is to heavey . Where over in the west where would you dig or pump. I treid last week and am a noob when it comes to pumping lol what a waste of time lol. Please help ?? Great stream . many thanks
Hi bud. It does not matter what country you're in, or what side of it! I have pumped worms in France, Ireland, Denmark just to name a few. The only thing that matters is, the technique and the sand pumping. If there are too many stones to get the pump in go somewhere else! Other than that follow the link to this video, it will see you good. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Hi Billy great video. Are these black lug you are freezing rather than blowlug. I have never managed to freeze blowlug successfully preferring to simply salt any I have left after a session. Cheers.
Great video just subbed so working my way thro videos all been great the rig u catch dabs and flounder on the circle hook with hair rig have u got a photo of rig as I would like to try it here in UK
@@Billyfishing_watch ive literally just been out and salted a few to try as dug some today done what you said so hopefully this will be a game changer i take it when you use them u keep them frozen right up to you get to your fishing mark as long as possible
Hello Billy, another great video, I have been trying to come up with an idea to freeze lug and have failed miserably, I dig my worms on the Foyle estuary they would be smaller than your lug and would appear from the video to have thinner skin, would a darning needle work to extract the blood what do you think, fish on brother and keep those videos coming
Hi Ronnie, yes I think it would, not sure what a darning needle is, but must work the same way as the nail I use, but I have tried with small lug too, and it works fine, thanks Brother 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch Cheers Billy, a darning needle is something you would mend your wader socks with when they wear into holes after all that great fishing action you have 🎣🐟🐟
Hi Jacob. Yes of course you can, has many times as you'd like. Just so long as you can still get them on the hook. Follow this link to my latest video, I think you would like it, thanks Brother 👍😁
Yeh, the tails are not important. But if you want two tails, just leave them in the bucket of water for longer sometimes they'll purge themselves. Thanks Brother 👍☺️
Interesting. I just put a lot of Salt on my Lugsworms, let them sit in the fridge and change the salt after a few days. I check them every other day until the consistency is like licorice. Then I freeze them. It's much less work than your method.
Sorry, you may have answered this multiple times... But I'll ask anyway... What size pump do you use Billy? I had a 50mm one years ago and near broke my back... Im thinking 28 or 22mm is best?
Hi, no worries. The pump is 35 mm, and it about 20 cm longer than your one, but it helps. If you can get a longer one with the same ,35mm opening, that would be perfect. Fish on buddy 👍😁
Thank you very much! Any idea how long you can keep them in the freezer before they're no longer usable? Sadly, I only get to go saltwater fishing once or twice a year, usually.
Hi Mumtaz. If you have a vacuum machine you can do it straight away, but if you're just going to put it onto some weight give it 10 15 minutes. Thanks Brother 👍
@Billyfishing I fish here in UK The beach where I fish is full of blow lugs. The thing is I live about 75 miles away from this beach and when I go fishing I tend to spend as much time as possible sometimes even full two days on the beach sleeping in my car. I am just wondering how practical would it be to pump the worms first. Use some for fishing on the beach and start getting the remaining and salting and wrapping them in a news paper and then when I come back home I put the wraps in the freezer. Would that be ok?
@Billyfishing I was asking people around for the spots where one can specifically pump black lug worms but since I saw your video I.realise I could probably freeze blow lugs as the beach where I fish is already full of them
Just keep them cool and alive until you get home then process them there, if you saw them before you come home they will lose their scent and their potency 👍
We have fair amount of blow lug down here & have had a lot of fish with them when fresh , but I have tried on loads of fishing trips frozen stuff using different ways of freezing them, also tried threading them on & several tied on with bait elastic but to date never caught a single fish ! apart from being a complete t*****r Billy wtf am I doing wrong !!!!!!!(not even whiting)
Hi Frank. If the worm are oversalted, the fish sometimes don't like them too much. Try my method, I guarantee it will work - if there is fish there 👍😁 Tight lines brother
Hi Billy I have watched your videos on pumping lug ,the old woman bought me a pump & have just given it a go. 1hr of pumping 3 worms probably not the success I was hoping for ,pump appears to work ok (plenty of suck) using rape seed oil as lubricant ,& tightening the nylock nut when required, had the angle about right (i think) or is it just the wrong time of year(worms to deep?)any ideas Billy any help you can give would be great
