This channel is mostly about making all sorts of fishing tackle; Jigs, Chatterbaits, Spinnerbaits, Plastic Baits, Airbrushing Crankbaits,....etc.
Besides bait making videos, I also make fishing videos, underwater videos, videos of the seminars I do, interviews and product reviews. Every now and then I will post a non-fishing related video like wine making videos

nick wilson thank you so much for the offer but unfortunately I really can't work around lead. Oddly enough the only thing I can really throw is tungsten because of the irritants that I touch numbs my hand with lead. But that is very nice of you for the kind gesture. Good luck on the water

Hey man, new subscriber here. Love all the great jig making videos! I want to get into it and start out with 2 molds, probably the arky and the brush jig. The bass up north here (Canada) like a smaller profile, can I use a smaller hook in the mold as long as it closes ok?

I'd love to get into it. It looks like a lot of fun and catching a fish on something I handmade would be so satisfying! Approximately how much $ is it to get started making the jigs?

Fish Hawk $50+ for a melter, 40-50 for each mold are the main expenses. After that you just need hooks, weedguards and paint !!!! About $10 each and will last awhile. It's actually a fairly cheap hobby.

hey Skimp. where do you get the teflon plug for the hole when you paint. Also where did you get your skirting from and how many id you use for this jig. Awesome vid man.

Hi Skimpy.. which weed guard did you use? When I ordered my mold I got the fg-30r and the fg-30x. They don't fit into the jigs even when they are unpainted. I have to drill the holes bigger to insert the weed guards I have. So annoying..

Weird. That mold def asks for FG-30. When you are pouring the lead are you using the weedguard pin that came with the mold ?

@@ThatGuySkimpy I know right?? Very weird.. yes I am using the pins that came with the mold. 1/8 I believe... I'm also not happy with the stiffness of the weed guards.. they not stiff enough for me. I think I'm gonna change brands and try the ones from fishingskirts.com I live in Africa and it's a nightmare importing stuff from there 🙈

@@marcuspierantozzi I know that the poisontail 1/4 calls for a 1 size smaller weedguard. Man I'll have to check my mold. I'm almost 100% the 1/4 brush still uses the regular fg30

Where did you get TEFLON base hole pins? I have the metal ones that come with molds. I love the Teflon idea for painting convenience.

I find those fg-30 far to soft for a heavy cover jig... and for some reason they don't fit in my jigs. I have to drill out the hole to make them fit ... quite annoying

I found that having a pan of cold water, after i paint I just drop the Teflon in water and the paint almost falls off for easy clean up. I also dip hot jig in cold water after painting so when I hang them and accidentally touch another jig doesn't mess paint up. then I bake them.

Predator Baits I don't spray it, i smoke the mold. Lift a candle and run under the mold to blacken it
