The easiest, clearest, cleanest method I've seen. Just wondering if it'll hold up in excessively windy areas/days. Thanks, Aloha

Thanks! We had a similar one (magnets were not taped in) and some gusty winds took it away so I’m thinking not. But for all other occasions it worked great. And this new design should be even better because the magnets won’t get lost. Thanks for your comment!

These could technically be made to go on the inside as well and you could use a stiffer netting

nice DIY. A little easier and maybe longer lasting to skip the tape and just cut the form and put up magnets everytime. I actually just ducktape one magnet to the rear corner so you have the orentation set and then put up the magnets. Extra 20 seconds everytime but no sticky tape. Either way works !

Hi , It looks like there is no metal on your van by the side view mirror. How is the seal there to keep bugs out? I really like the simple but effective design. Well done, for sure.
@TimAndShannonLTD
@TimAndShannonLTD Год назад
Hi Pete, they work really well. You are correct there is no magnet on that plastic part at the front part of the window, but the two magnets above, and below stretch it pretty tight, so it stays on very well. Hope this helps! Thank you for your comment! 😄

@TimAndShannonLTD

Hi Michel, I’m not sure. I recommend you ask the vendor on Amazon. (Or pick up some other mesh that you know will block them). It works great for mosquitoes, flies, etc…

Yes!! Love it. I guess if strong rain or wind comes bring them inside? Im gonna compare the cost though to buying the pre-made kind that slips over the windows. Cause this magnet cost adds up at around 3 $5 magnet packs per window. $6 for 6 piece of netting. Scissors, duct tape, painters tape I may already have. But looks fun. Great idea. I love the idea in comments to put them inside vehicle instead but not sure how they would stay up. Maybe velcro tabs.
@TimAndShannonLTD
@TimAndShannonLTD Год назад
Yes a strong enough wind will take them away. Inside mount might be a good idea but will be difficult to mold around the compound curves inside the windows. Good luck with yours!

This is great, I knew it was that simple! Easy to store, too! I'm going to try and do this at home. I have an older townhome and the magnit screens don't fit such a small design. I think I can reconfigure and also do something temp for the window because of metal frame! Thanks!
@TimAndShannonLTD
@TimAndShannonLTD Год назад
So glad you found this useful! If you are wanting to do this on metal frames on a house window, I suggest you make sure magnets will stick to the frames first - if they are Aluminum frames, I don't think magnets will stick. Just a heads up before you get too far into the project. Thanks for the comment and good luck with that!

I tried this but the tape won't stay stuck for some reason. I used duct tape. I guess my next move is to sew it with fabric.

We used your method to make a screen for our van today. We used black screen and black gorilla tape. The adhesive on the tape got all over the the top of the tape and all over our white van. It turned into a big mess. Maybe it was too hot for the tape? I dunno. We’ll do the other window tomorrow morning when it’s cooler outside. Thanks for the video.

Can you make it more privacy style too? Is the mosquito netting just crinoline fabric or something else?
@TimAndShannonLTD

Yes I think it’s something like that. And yeah I guess you could use any fabric that would allow air flow (because that’s the whole point) and still not allow bugs through.

This looks a brilliant method for the cab windows. Here in Scotland we have the infamous Scottish midges, tiny wee things in swarms that get in every little crack and cause misery. Have got the very fine midge netting for the doors and was puzzling how to do the cab, this does the job perfectly. Thanks for sharing 👍🙂

Does it hold up in heat
@TimAndShannonLTD
@TimAndShannonLTD 4 месяца назад
Very good question and the answer is "sort of". It depends on how much heat you're talking about. The things lasted 2 years up until last June in Arizona, when the heat was too much for the duct tape, and we've been looking for something better ever since. So far, haven't found a tape that can handle high heat and still stick well enough to the plastic screen. New video when we find a solution.
