I have a raised pond twice the size of your barrel thought I’d give it a go, to be honest I was a bit sceptical at first but I’m amazed… 3 weeks in and it’s crystal clear, shame I can’t post any pictures, thank you so much for posting this 😊
@@silvercarpboy1 After a few months of summer usage the flow slowed down a bit so I took the whole filter out to clean some weed and debris clogging the pump. To do this I had to take the pebbles out so I could clean the pump and reposition it in its plastic water bottle in the same position again. It didn't take long but I didn't have to clean the pebbles. If or when you need to do this make sure the pebbles don't dry out or the algae eating bacteria which live on the surface of the pebbles will die.
Great video. I’ll be attempting this very soon. Just wondering if there’s any reason you left the bottle empty instead of filling it with stones/gravel when placed inside the container?
🤔Hi! Why did you use the bin liner? Could you please explain in more detail? Would the algae have cleared up faster if there was no bin liner? Do you wipe the algae off the side walls? Thank you❤
I used the bin liner to seal the holes at the bottom of the pot otherwise the pump wouldn’t suck the water down through the gravel from above for the filter to work. If your pot has no holes in the bottom then there is no need for the plastic liner. I don’t wipe algae of the sides either. I’m too busy creating RU-vid videos to have the time. 😊
Yes it did. I’m still using it today. Here’s a livestream recording I made of it working a few days ago from my Tom’s Garden RU-vid channel. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cB83o0pOFp8.html
I bought it from Amazon UK 👉amzn.to/3iHiG60 , US👉amzn.to/3eRbCT4. You may have to scale the size of the filter up by x 2 or more to cope with the 100 litre pond and goldfish, so you could buy 2 of these filters. I would try one first and see how it copes.
