I just found your channel, those chocolate covered oreos look very elegant 👏👏. I love to make desserts and try new recipes, however i am not sure in the selling business. Suggestions for you (which I've heard from other channels from people selling from home): be very careful about providing all the details from your home business, especially discussing orders and how much you charge. Some people are very jealous and will report you to the health department especially if you don't have a permit to prepare foods from home. Continue showing us step by step videos but limit the information about the orders and just mention what you are preparing "for your family instead". Thank for sharing all your tips and God bless you.
Great video! Don’t forget to include the price of your disposables like the cupcake liners, the sprinkles, the piping bags, box etc. then add in a little for the use of non disposables like your molds and freezer space etc. and a huge one is your time!
Wow, I did a Victoria Secret themed Oreo set over the weekend - Including fondant and all that and only charged $20. Im going to look over my prices again. I made zero profit.
Oh no, that is definitely underpriced!! You have to look at how much you spend in your materials plus labor and find a price that you think fits right for you. It can also depend on the state you live in so definitely do your research as well. If you’re prices aren’t to the point where people don’t complain about your prices, they’re too low. Some might not book you but that’s okay, because others will and to the price that’s fair and you have profit!
Big thumbs up....don't understand the thumbs down..very well explained....they were beautiful and fully viewed..thank you for tips and your full cost disclosure. Amazing!
It’s not about it melting in 30 seconds. The intervals are so you don’t get scorch spots. You’re supposed to stop and stir to prevent scorching and hot spots. Even when it’s mostly a block still you should still only do it for 30 seconds.
Great video sis! Your oreos came out so cute! I love making chocolate covered oreos. Can’t wait to watch your other videos! All success and blessings in your business!
GIRL .thank you for the pricing ideas. I've yet to do " themed" berries and treats yet so this helps a lot! I start at $25 for a regular dozen and let them chose colors and toppings. Ps make sure you confirm if the customer has nut allergies when u use coconut oil!!!
@@bakedgoddess7858 they are considered a botanical nut and many ppl that are allergic to peanut also can't handle coconut. Nonetheless it is a high allergen. Be blessed.
Coconut allergy is relatively rare Coconut is a very different plant from peanut or tree nuts. The presence of the letters "nut" does not mean that coconut will trigger an allergic reaction in people allergic to peanut or tree nuts. Allergies to peanut and tree nuts are relatively common compared to allergies to coconut which are very rare. This suggests that the risk of coconut allergy in a person known to be allergic to peanut or tree nuts is very low. Therefore allergy testing to coconut is not considered as routine.
Thank you girly, my sister wants to get u to making these so I’m Going to refer her to your channel! There’s this girl in my area that gets them to taste like fudge but they’re chocolate they’re so good I wonder how she does it, I never had chocolate taste like that 😭
My daughter 12 LOVES to bake she wants to do have her own business glad I found your channel cuz prices are my worst issue and I want to invest in her future business she wants now
Go for it!! 💖 I felt the same... feeling like i didn’t have an interest in anything and feeling like I wouldn’t be good at anything until I tried it and loved it!!
That’s good!! I think anyone who wants to try it should and the ones that don’t or can’t, then they have the choice to pay someone else to do all the work! Because it’s not just decorating them, it’s gas spent on going to the store, how much all your ingredients and supplies cost, and most importantly time!
I Love ❤️💕👍☺️😁 The Colors You Did Your Oreos With ... I Can't Wait To Make These.. Thank You For The Tip On Making These,,... I Went Ahead And Subscribe To Your Channel.... 😁☺️👍💕❤️😊
What stores have those cookie molds! I’m gettin ready to host my mother’s surprise bday party and I’m doing a sweet treats table and chocolate Oreos will b on there this video helped so much ❤️❤️❤️
Hi there! I would recommend using just regular Oreos. I actually like using the Walmart brand “Oreos” because actual Oreos tend to be a lot more sweeter and mixed with the chocolate it can be overly sweet. I find using the Walmart brand ones it balances out to where it’s not overly sweet! 💕
This video helped so much! I just made an covered oreo order and i didnt have molds. They looked ok but molds wouldve saved me time i spent. Also, where did you get that box?
I’m so glad it helped! The boxes in this video I actually got at Walmart! They’re the Wilton brand and came with two for about $5. They have a ton with different sizes. You can also get a bigger quantity on Amazon! It might be a bit more expensive depending on which ones you chose but they’re definitely cheaper than Walmart and you get more bang for your buck.
so sorry for the late reply! you should check out Walmart- they have cake and cupcake boxes that’s really affordable and you don’t have to buy a big amount like you do on Amazon!
It was mine too! I would look around on different websites even from different states because I couldn’t find prices anywhere and had no idea. That’s why it’s so important for me to share this with you all! ♥️
I’m having so much trouble trying to find the balance between the too, I also started a small business, flowers and treats and sometimes it’s so discouraging!
Samantha Cazares i completely agree! There’s times that I get discouraged too because there will be times where I don’t get an order for two weeks or more but don’t let it discourage you. Literally every single business starts from the bottom and works their way up. You got this!! ♥️
Thank you! I do let my customers know it contains coconut in the case someone has an allergy to keep them safe ♥️ I used to use shortening but preferred using the coconut oil. I agree that either works just as well! 💖
Hello, there great video!! Really helpful. Subscribed already ! Quick question, when i melt the candy melts, should i use them immediately or should i let it cool?
Thank you 💖 do not use them immediately! It will cause your chocolate to seize and you won’t be able to use it! Let the chocolate cool down before using ☺️ it’ll still be a smooth consistency and you’ll be able to dip, mold, etc 💕
Also- a way to know if it’s too hot to use, just simply dip your finger and if it’s too hot for your finger, it’s too hot to use still and you need to let it cool some more!
Sweet Sunflowers.
hey im in love with everything you make i might start a businesses my self im just curios where you get your boxes from the ones you put the oreos in !!!
These ones I got from Walmart! They’re the Wilton brand and we’re 2 for about $5. You can also get the from Amazon, they’re a bit more expensive depending on which ones you chose but you definitely get more bang for tour buck and they come out cheaper.
you can! and for the chocolate melts I’d definitely recommend it because they tend to be a lot thicker than chocolate wafers like Ghirardelli. you can use paramount crystals, coconut oil and even vegetable oil! (coconut oil is my fav)
It sometimes can be!! It does taste a bit better to use white chocolate and color them with oil based food coloring however if someone doesn’t have all the supplies to do so candy melts can be an easier option!
I’m just using a regular plastic cutting board! Lol back in this video I didn’t have wax paper on hand but it makes it a whole lot easier and I never make anything without having my wax paper! 😬
You should be able to put just a feint dropped and I mean faint a vinegar and it'll get those spots off for you with like a piece of white paper and vinegar won't hurt anybody it's AV not there's no ugly chemical
Thank you ♥️ you can do it even up to a week ahead! I typically like to them a day or two before since many people want them somewhat early and I don’t want to rush my work. You don’t want to put them back in the fridge once you take them out because that’ll make the chocolate sweat and it’ll then make them have a watery/sweaty coat to them. The way that I like to store them is in their designated box with the lid closed and just stored in a cool place. Basically any place that is not hot so the chocolate won’t melt neither the fridge so the chocolate won’t sweat. Hope this helps! 😊
Hi, thanks for the tips!! Just one question. When you put the candy melts in a piping bag and don't use it all, what do you do with the leftover? Do you take it out of the bag when its hard? Thanks! Xx
I actually leave it in the piping bag and just store it safely in my pantry ☺️ whenever I’m going to reuse I just put the piping bag in the microwave that way I’m not wasting chocolate. And as long as you store it properly once it’s hardened your good to reuse as you’d like 💖
A lot of people use coconut oil or veggie oil but use crystals because they're made out of the same oils chocolates are .....coconut oil and veggie melt oil are made out of different oils t......your treats will stay better with the crystals and prevent cracking..... Don't think I'm smart this higher-end professional chocolate lady was giving that tip for better results
I just leave them sealed in their box and refrigerate them! If we’re in the cooler months I can leave the box out just making sure it’s in a safe place and sealed!
You can but when you take it out the chocolate may sweat. I usually do my orders the day/night before and just put them in the box and leave them out in room temperature.
I know this has nothing to do lol but How do you make the strawberry’s not sweat ? Do you put them in the freezer when your done and take them out fast or just let them air dry. Because I put them in the freezer 😅
Fridge/freezer time definitely contributes to it! I recommend the refrigerator instead. But the biggest tip to help the strawberries from not sweating is making sure that after you wash your strawberries you get a paper towel and really make sure you dry them completely! It might seem like it takes forever but you want to make sure all the moisture is out because the moisture is what makes the strawberries sweat. The chocolate can sweat too if you leave it in the fridge for too long but it’s different than the strawberry itself sweating. That’s when it gets like that stickiness to it because of the strawberries sugar. So yeah the biggest Tio is to really make sure you dry your strawberries with a paper towel to get ready of the excess moisture to avoid the sweating! ☺️
Why do you put oil in the chocolate? I have always been afraid to do that because I thought the chocolate would seize, clump together. What type of oil did you use?
To thin it out because candy melts are a lot thicker than something like Ghirardelli’s chocolate wafers. It won’t seize because chocolate is oil based! If you were to put water, or even gel/food coloring- then it would seize up as you can only use oil (I prefer coconut oil and used it in the video), paramount crystals, and coloring that’s oil based.
Hi there!! ♥️ I think you mean already baked cake and I haven’t personally tried it so I’m not sure. I’m thinking it might stick but I’ve seen people spray them with cooking spray so you might be able to try that to get them out nicely 😊
If you leave them in the fridge/freezer for too long they can sweat!! That’s why I just put them in for about 5 mins or until I touch the top of the chocolate in the mold and it is solid.
Quiero dejarte saber que hiciste un trabajo excelente me encanta tu trabajo y espero abrir mi negocio de dulce muy pronto estoy comprando poco a poco las cosas que necesitaría y con dios adelante 2021 será el grande para mí.
They can be stored at room temp for a bout a week I’d say even two weeks! It’s chocolate and Oreos so they do not go bad quick at all in room temperature.
Yes !!! I really did enjoy Your lovely video ❤️ very useful and helpful.... Delicious Oreo chocolate biscuits 😋.... Looking delightful... This is my first video for You and surely not the last because am lucky to find Your channel..... Greetings from Africa Cairo Egypt 💓... Hello 👋
I personally didn’t have social media but that is a great way including word of mouth! Always giving my business card to the customers that way if they’re event attendees liked what I made, they could reach out to me that way 😊 but I started off posting on OfferUp lol
Hello!! Chocolate covered Oreos if stored correctly depending on the temperature can be made about 1-2 weeks (from what I’ve read) but for me personally I would make them about 4 days in advance if I wasn’t able to do them the day before!
There was no need to temper because I was using candy melts instead of chocolate wafers! I added coconut oil because it’s one way to thin candy melts as they tend to be on the thicker side, especially the darker colors!
I’d say a week would be fine as long as they’re stored properly but I myself would do it two-3 days before if for some reason I couldn’t do them the day before!
It’s microwave safe! I didn’t have deli containers you normally would see people who handle chocolate use. You can use the method of using a bowl over boiling water but it’s super time consuming!
It depends if you get the family size or regular size bag but let’s say you use the family bag- I think you would be fine with 3 bags but it’s always better to be left with more than less so I’d grab an extra bag just in case! (And you can use them for next time or for a late night snack hehe) hope this helps!!
Practice at home first to make sure that you can actually make what you’re selling and take pictures of what you do! ♥️ once you feel confident enough in what you make start advertising it wherever you can ☺️
Elizabeth Hernandez exactly!! 😊 I don’t have any social media personal nor for business however like you said- word of mouth is the best!! Once someone has some at a party, they’ll see and ask about them and they’ll be referred to you so always give out business cards on each order too ☺️
Prices may vary from state to state so always make sure to look around also but PLEASE don’t underprice yourself! There might be some people that think your price is too high but remember you are providing something that YOU know how to do and they don’t, and although you might not get that customer.. you’re going to get another customer who will value your work and pay what you deserve. Best of luck 💖
Yes! ☺️ It was intentional. Because this was for a wedding I made various samples for the customer and they chose everything up to the blend of sprinkles they wanted lol
