When I learned about these 5-6 years ago I planted them, 4 bushes, and this is my second year making jam. When they first fruited, I added them to smoothies, now theres so many!
I am making choke/blueberry jam. I added ginger and some Lemon zest and lemon juice. So yummy. O.S, you can add monk fruit or stevia instead of sugar, if you are a diabetic. I substituted sugar for Agave syrup and monkfruit.
Here is the recipe 5 cups of fresh black chokeberries • 1 1/2 cups water • 600 grams of sugar • 2 tbsp lemon juice Rinse the berries well and boil them with water for 20-30 min. Add sugar and lemon juice and let the jam boil until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove pot off the stove Pour the hot jam into warm and disinfected glass jar
