I know it’s a bit time consuming, but I reinforce my corners so that the seams do not rip open when I push them out with my chopstick.

When you said you were using two different fabrics, it seemed that you meant the fabric itself. The red fabric looks like something other than cotton. I love that red fabric because its is so shinny. What is the name of that pattern?
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 лет назад
Hi Donna! Jen just meant that she used two designs from the same collection. That red fabric is from the Poinsettia & Pine Collection by Maywood Studio. It's Poinsettia & Pine 9126-R Elegant Scrolls by Maywood Studio. We're getting more of that fabric soon in case you're interested in getting some. It's also available in the FQ set of that collection. - Morgan

Hi Sue. We always use the dual feed system on the Bernina when we're piecing because it helps move the two layers of fabric evenly through the machine. - Morgan

If you were going to serge the edges to prevent fraying, would you do each layer prior to the first sew so that serged edge was inside? Or would you do it instead of or in addition to top stitching? (Or would you skip it entirely?)

Great questions! We'd skip it entirely as the raw edges will be on the inside of the project. :) - Beth

@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 2 года назад
Hi Tammy- We do apologize for the inconvenience of being unable to view that video. The placemats and coasters pictured use a 2.5" strip roll. The technique is the same as shown in our Slice Rug video here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/free-downloads-and-video/77/how-to-make-a-slice-rug After your desired strips are sewn, just measure out the length/width you'd like, and trim the piece(s), then bind it. Hope that helps! 💖 -Michelle

@tammydewey113 2 года назад
@@ShabbyFabrics it does in a way but when the two strips meet in the middle how do you sew them together and if they're not meeting in the middle then your binding three sides of it correct
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 2 года назад
@@tammydewey113 Hi Tammy, I don't quite understand your question. Can you please clarify, or give us the video timestamp as a point of reference to your question? There are no strips are meeting in the middle. They're all parallel to each other with raw edges on the left and right ends, and finished edged on the top and bottom. The left and right sides are then bound following the same method in the slice rug video. Hope this makes sense! 💖 -Michelle
