Yall... I used a teaspoon of glycerin in 1 cup of clear glue slime mix.... when mixing it together pre activation it was releasing bubbles like you wouldn't believe lololol Thanks for the vid

@@chiarrafiore3386 oh i think it’s just the same but they don’t use contact lenses. perhaps they use korean glue. white glue is already semi coated depending which brand you use.

Can I still make coated clear slime if my activator is already contact lens solution and baking soda? I do not have access to borax. Btw, AMAZING JOB!!! I love the look!

Isn't the borax that is in contact lens solution what activates and coats slime?

@@TheNutCollector I think borax is a laundry detergent, whereas contact lens solution is to clean contact lenses. Quite different if I'm not wrong...

@@ssera._ I would like to isolate the chemicals and/or the method that give slime that coated feeling. Check out the ingredients in your contact lens solution. If it actives slime it will contain borax, it may be called boric acid, or hydrogen borate. I have been trying to figure out why contact solution seems to do a better job of activating slime than just plain borax and water. And why slime does not get over activated when you coat it with contact lens solution. Is it because contact lens is a weaker solution than the usual recipe of 1tsp borax to 1 cup water that most people use? Are there other ingredients in contact lens solution that changes the properties of slime? If I use a weak water and borax solution on slime that has been left to sit for a few days will it coat the slime the same way contact lens solution does?

What makes contact solution containing some form of boron different from a weak borax activator? Aren’t you just adding activator to the slime if you add the correct kind of contact solution? If that was the case, then every clear slime I use would be coated, because I add activator to all of them to make them less sticky. I’m so confused!

Contact solution doesn’t coat it. It only activates it slightly more since it contains a small amount of borat (borax) and that’s what makes it seem slightly less tacky.

I tried this with two different contact solutions, on several different slimes, experimenting with different amounts, no coating. So if anyone reads this and think they can finally make coated slimes, nope, don’t spend your money on any contact solution.

@@Goomiiu this is the right recipe but you have to use the right contact solution, also you have to let the slime sit a few days first or it doesn’t work & the slime just absorbs it I think. It has to be the kind of contact solution used for storing contacts not the kind for moisturizing/re wetting them. Hang on I’ll ask her what kind 😉 Actually the first time I did it I didn’t think it worked! I thought it semi ruined the slime, but when I went back to it a week later it was fine & coated! 🎀💜🍭

No this won't work. You have to fully activate the slime and let it sit until it clears in a sealed container for about a week or longer for larger batches. The bigger the container you put the slime in, the faster it will clear. A big container will spread the slime out leaving a thin layer making it easier for bubbles to reach the surface in order to clear up. When the bubbles have to travel through a thicker area it takes longer. So if you put the slime in a big container it may only take a couple days to clear especially if you don't over stir it when activating it. Once it's clear then you add the contact solution. Think of it this way, if you use contact solution as your activator you don't end up with a coated slime so adding it before activation wouldn't work.

I was also wanting to know if the contact lens solution is suppose to deactivate the slime or not. I’m not sure if I got the right kind because mine deactivated the slime so I end up adding more borax solution afterwards anyways.

Hello! Sorry to bother, but does expired contact lens solution work too? I found an old one. I’m just scared it would make the slime disgusting, or contaminated. Since it’s old, it’s likely a bit contaminated. But logically, it should still work because it’s slime..? And it doesn’t function to kill bacteria, but slime doesn’t need at addition to it.

It doesn’t. I had some clear glue on hand and searched my cabinets and found some 2 year expired solution and figured it would work but unfortunately it made my slime sticky and yellow. And I used the same stuff she did. So not I don’t recommend it.

No. In order to activate a slime with contact lens solution you have to also add baking soda to it. Adding just contact lens solution with out baking soda won't activate a slime. You need to use borax and water to activate the slime and once it's activated, let it sit in an air tight container until it clears up. At this point add contact lens solution by itself to the slime until you get the desired amount of coating you want. You have to use the contact lens solution that's meant for storing contacts in. You can't use rewetting drops for contacts or just plain saline solution. If you make a slime by activating it with contact lens solution and baking soda then I don't believe you can coat it after it clears since the contact lens solution may work as an activator since you added baking soda during the activation process.

I’ve honestly never tried it like that, but you could try! And see if it makes it feel any different. And then you could always add it after the fact anyway 😊
