Hi Everyone, I hope you are all well. Goodness me it's turned cold here in the UK, we've definitely moved away from summer. I've been making a lot of salt bars recently and I really love them, so thought I share with you. I hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching :-)
you all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Jaiden Sullivan thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Thank you for all your time and effort. I personally have learned a lot from you.💐 I made a ombré salt soap this morning, and cut it after 2 hours, pretty happy I didn’t wait longer. Thank you so much for this brilliant tutorial.
Love this video and as a fellow UK soap maker seeing a soap recipe I can get approved for such a discount is great news. Thanks for letting people know about this, there seems to be a lot of sellers at the moment who aren't getting assessments and they could be setting themselves up for a whole load of heartache. Great video as always Lisa xxx
Thanks so much Katrina. Yes there are a lot of unauthorised soaps out there, some where people are fully aware and some where people don't have a clue unfortunately
Seems to me to be just another administrative exercise in ‘extortionate’ Hell for soap makers. More regulatory Control. Thankfully I don’t reside in the UK, nor sell my soaps…despite many requests. Yet, I do find it interesting that those self same Regulations do nothing to prevent the unnecessary use of neurotoxic Additives that are rife through the Soapmaking world…if the many You Tubers’ usage is any indication. And then there’s the Group 2B classified carcinogen Titatium Dioxide….
I find soapy maths exciting! You explain it all so well too. I've recommended your channel a few times in the last week or two to people struggling with calculations and how to figure things out.
Tracy, those bars look fabulous. If anyone can make salt bars and still make them look creamy, it's you. Sounds like a wonderful recipe. I will have to try it. Cheers 💕👍💕
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain so many soap steps in all of your videos. It has helped me learn in a far better way than just reading books have. I find I understand the books better after watching your videos.
I love a good salt bar! I made one the other day and did a "how not to make a salt bar" 😂 I remade it just before sitting to watch this and will be cutting before the end of day!
Beautiful salt soap bars. I wouldn't have ever attempted a loaf mold salt loaf but after seeing your beautiful bars I feel confident I could do a salt soap like this. Well made Lisa. Stay safe and well and have a wonderful weekend.x
@@IDreamInSoap I realized I forgot to put the castor oil in 😭 will it still be ok as far as bubbles go? It came out of the molds fine and it looks great! Would this recipe minus the salt also be for swirls?
Thank you Lisa for the free recipe and for giving us the link to the Cosmetic Safety Consultants. As I am based in Italy I am going to follow the path to the Safety Assessment as you already did. It is a very long and hard way to go .......
Thank you! I've been afraid to try this but I think I can do it for gifts this holiday! I love watching your videos you tell it like it is! Have a great weekend!
I have just started watching your channel and THANK YOU so very much for all the great information! I would say that you are the best of the best at explaining the process of soap making.
OMG! I hate maths but you make it look so nice and ease lol I bought this assessment after its been posted on a Facebook group. I love the way you explain the process. Thank you xx
I'm so glad I came across your channel. I really love the full detail you give and the clear and concise instructions. I love the simple soft colours of the salt bars and can't wait to make my first batch. Thank you
I absolutely love you and your tutorials. You explain in such detail and it makes ot so much easier to understand. i just watched your other tutorial with the large Himalayan salt rocks. As soon as i get home im gonna make them. You are an amazing soaper. You are an absolute inspiration. 💜💜💜
Wow, OK, all that math, was crazy, I had to keep stopping, but its great to know know how to change your recipe and since I never copy recipes from anyone, just inspired by, it's great information I needed, thank goodness u explained it..
Wow! You sure do pack a heap of wonderful tips and valuable information into these videos! Loved learning all about salt bars, and seeing all the variations you've achieved with the salt bar recipe. Thanks heaps Lisa! 😊
Very enjoyable video. Lots and lots of helpful information and advice! And a beautiful bar for sure. I like that you include all the math you do. It adds something to your video that other soap makers don't include. Awesome job, Lisa 💕💕💕
Hola!
I came here from your link, Soap Challenge Support team 🥰. Really enjoyed that one and wanted to see the in-depth tutorial. So happy I did so. This content strengthened what I saw in my first video and reinforced what I learned. Lisa, you’re a fabulous teacher and well, Thank you for sharing your gift. So here’s a little sharing and pssssst-every word is true and what my heart and brain say together. (Sometimes they are like a naughty set of twins. Lol) 1) voice and voice over work: calming and you are careful with word choices. Clear, simple yet not “babyish”. 2) maths and details. Perfection. Easy to follow and for someone who LOVES the technical background-yay. And for someone who is scared of the maths and calculations-it was easy to follow. 3) your working and then using the voice over made it clear. (I find your style is relaxing-not a stressed or worried voice if something happens and you must figure out why. I do know this happens (but I have to say I follow your philosophy-plan for the work and the majority of “things that pop up” either don’t pop up or one is aware and can deal with the issue calmly. 3) Last and to me biggest: enjoy your soaping. Talk to yourself and allow yourself to be happy, frustrated and ultimately smile as the soap walk is done. (Kinda compiled that one from the many videos of yours I’ve watched and loved)
I absolutely loved this video/ tutorial. Ive just started making salt bars and doing all the wrong things Now i feel more confident after watching you. Can't wait to make them now.
@@IDreamInSoap it went very well. Thank you again for being so generous with your information. I was able to cut at about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I added coconut milk, cane sugar and powdered goat milk, hoping to enhance the bubbles.
Dearest Lisa, I love your videos, and yes, I will be making a salt bar later today! Beautiful bars, all of them! Thank you for your inspiration, for sharing your talent and time with us, much love❤️🙏🏼
@@IDreamInSoap they actually did! Followed exact same recipe and also made an ombre soap, and followed all your instructions. After a couple of days I tested and the lather is already very good. Now curing time😊 thank you again so much for the fine teaching 🙏🏼
Lisa you are a fabulous teacher ! Wonder if you are a teacher in real life.🤔..if not, you missed your calling 😀 I see now my mistakes in my salt bars not lathering enough. Thank you for that concise, well explained vid, and your kindness in sharing with us...much appreciation from Jamaica.
Hi Lisa, thank you for sharing! Today I will try this recipe with some kelp powder. I already measured out everything, just waiting for the lye solution to cool down.
Hi Lisa! I love this video. I really want to try this recipe now. As a newbie to soap making I found it very difficult to make a small batch of soap with a stick blender and not go beyond trace. It set up too fast and then I was left frustrated and the soap wouldn't turn out the way I wanted. Someone- maybe you was using a milk brother and I decided to try that to mix in my lye water. It saved the day. My milk brother allows me to make my soap batter and I have time to muck around with it. Thank you for all of your videos. Your a great lady and I hope you continue on for many years.
Really enjoyed watching this and learnt a lot as I am a new soap maker. The way that you explain things are so clear and informative. May I ask where you purchase you Essential Oil from?
Oh, Lisa, you are a fantastic teacher! I enjoy your videos so much and always learn new tips and tricks. You are so nice and concise with your information and as soon as I say, "Hmmm...I wonder why..." you answer it! The detail you give will make me want to try this one, too :-)
I’m very thankful for your very clear and helpful explanation in your videos! I have used the salt bar recipe today and made it based on your information in your video. It worked perfectly and the soap is resting tonight until tomorrow. My question, and maybe I missed it, is how long this soap needs to cure? Thanks much in advance, Susanne
Wonderful! I'm so pleased you gave it a go. Minimum cure time should be 4 weeks, but they will just keep improving after that, so longer is fine, but not necessary if you want to start using them.
I adore this process. Thank you so much for breaking it down. It’s working beautifully and now I just need to find out how to control soda ash. Suggestions?
So pleased you like the salt bars, to reduce soda ash reduce your water and keep your soap covered for a couple of days - that's for normal soap, for salt bars you have to get them out of the mould and cut. Salt bars do sometimes end up with a different type of ash ' efflorescence' . Efflorescence is the migration of a salt to the surface of a material, where it forms a coating. The essential process involves the dissolving of an internally held salt in water, or occasionally in another solvent. The water, with the salt now held in solution, migrates to the surface, then evaporates, leaving a coating of the salt.
Lisa, thank you, for sharing your time and gift of soap making. The salt bars look amazing. How long do you let them cure before using them? I am just respectfully learning this artistic medium and your teaching gift shines through!!! I have some chemistry experience in my past and find this intriguing. Hope to try making some soon. Blessings from USA.
HI Linda, thank you so much. I let all my soaps cure for a minimum of 6 weeks before I sell them. 4 is actually good enough, but the longer, the better. Also you can keep on letting them cure and they will keep on improving (although most of that is done earlier on)
Wow you had a long time to work! Last time I made a salt bar I could barely mix the salt in and had to plop and push it into the individual cavities I was using.
What a great tutorial on salt bars. I appreciate you and the time you take to explain things for us new Soapers. I’ve made quite a lot of “regular” soap using many different oil combinations and now introducing different additives to my loaves. I want to make this recipe, however I don’t think I’ll be fooling with the hombre look with salt. :-). I will however attempt that hombre with one of my recipes that stays thin for some time. I do want to know though, how long must these cure? Is it the same as other soaps, 4-6 weeks?
Great video! It's lovely to see more information about the assessment process in the UK/EU. I've never made or used a salt soap before, so I'm curious to know how this soap feels when lathering it up. Does the majority of the salt dissolve? How exfoliating are these bars compared to ones with other exfoliant types?
Thanks Emily. I use fine salt so in fact they are super smooth and not exfoliating at all. If you used bigger grains then they would be, I was surprised how lovely they felt the 1st time I used them
Hi Lisa, fantastic video and what a great assessment this is, I am going to apply for this assessment too now, so thanks for sharing the details. This is a really nice recipe. Look forward to your next video as always, be safe 💐🌈
P. S. In my first attempt at a Salted Soap soap, I very bravely decided to do a salt sole and salt combo with a dropped swirl into the middle of each poured individual soap = (: 0. Thankfully they turned out beautifully. Whew! 😀😀
Hi Lisa, thank you so much for giving so much detail for making these salt bars. I’ve been having a problem when I’m curing salt bars & then storing them. Even if I use only 10% of salt in relation to my total oil batch, they sweat & feel slightly wet to the touch. I just don’t want to make them for that reason. Do you have any tips or tricks in that regard.
Before I moved from one coast to the other...I went to the gulf and got some saltwater and seaweed to make soap...as a test. I absolutely love the bars!! Just for my own use cause I doubt they’d pass the cheeky regulations 😱☺️😱☺️😱😬😬
Oh gosh could you imagine asking 'I've picked up a load of seaweed from the beech, I think I got all the bits of sand and things off of it, how do I write this on my assessment' :-)
Hi Lisa! I wish I had seen this video 3 weeks ago when I was trying to figure out my recipe for my salt bar. (Maths are my worst subject). I had trouble bevelling it. I believe I used too much salt. (Himalayan Pink). I wish I could post a pic to show you. Your work is spot on as usual :)
Hi, I always make subtitles for all of my video, it takes me about 3 hours to do them, but I translate into 8 languages, are your settings on correctly
I can’t wait to try it! Specially bc living in Hawaii it intrigues me to use our native salt or even water right from a clear spot on the beach? 🤔 writing it down on my “Lisa’s inspired ideas” notebook LOL
@@IDreamInSoap 2 quick questions.... are you able to stamp your salt bars? I assume you might be able to at the beveling stage or right after unmoulding?
@@Mrsnatyg You can do it, but I've not had much luck, if you do them when you unmould they van be too soft, at the bevel stage I find them to hard to get a good impression without damaging them, so I tend not to bother as they never look great
As always your soap videos are amazing and I, too, like your math explanations. I tried following the link to the recipe and just came to a page with a 404 error. Perhaps they changed their page? Keep making your wonderful videos for all of us to enjoy :-)
Thanks so much Linda, unfortunately they are having issues with their website and are rebuilding it at the minute. Hopefully it will be up working again soon
Thanks for this great video. You’re an excellent teacher! It looks like the soap you made will have exfoliating properties, although I don’t know for sure. Is there a way to reduce exfoliation in salt bars?

Thank you for all your wonderful videos. I've learned so much from you. You're a great teacher! For my last three salt bar batches, I did try stacking them after cutting. I left them stacked and covered for two days since I live in a humid environment and try to avoid ash. Unfortunately, when I uncovered them tonight the bars were stuck together. I was able to separate them with minimal damage but it gave me a scare. I should probably have de-stacked them after 24 hours? Thanks again! You're wonderful!
May I say I really enjoy your video’s. I’m a beginner and you have expanded it so I can understand it so easy. I do have a question. How long does this salt soap have to set up and cure before using?
Hello Lisa! Love your videos and have learned so much with you. Awesome content!! I`m ansking for your help because I made two batches of salt soap in cold process and made the big mistake of cutting them too much time after. The inevitable happened, and they all crumbled. So, is there any way that I can still use all of that soap? What do you suggest? Maybe rebatching it? And if so, how may I do that? Thank you in advance! Best regards, from Portugal!!
I've always only made my salt bars in cavity molds. I am going to take this as a challenge and see how it goes. I definitely have to get the timing right.
@@IDreamInSoap oh yes they came out wonderful. I'm going to make more this weekend. Your technique is perfect for using a loaf mold for sea salt spa bars.
Hi. long time, no see! Just been having a catch up. It appears that we've both been rather busy! I don't know how you find the time to post to RU-vid too 🤔 your soaps all look fabulous, Lisa. Take care
Hi Deborah, lovely to see you. Oh gosh yes everything is madly busy. I only get time to post to YouTueb because I get up between 2-3am in the morning and do a whole load of things before I have to start my proper job.
