Oh my word! I'm going back to Japan later this year and am seriously thinking about tacking a long weekend side-trip to Seoul onto my itinerary. The magic of Korean soft power-- the magic of your channel. 😃😃😃🛫😋🍜💰💰💰💰
@@ModernPepper I look at photos of celebrities with airport trolleys stacked with excess baggage, suitcases balanced precariously like monstrous real-life slabs of Tetris blocks and I seethe with envy. I think of all the things I'd love to shop for in Japan and Korea next time round...like rice-- domestically available Korean and Japanese rice is just one random food-related item that I want to bring back to England. But each bag will add another 5kg to my suitcase's weight. This is going to be a tricky one. Wish me luck-- and pray that I have the self control to resist ambling into a Toto washlet showroom, y'know, "just to have a look around" 😅😆.
Still looking for the stone platter. I am in the Salt Lake City area so if anyone finds one, let me know. I am going to a few markets today and hope to find one. I did buy the smaller granite DolSot yesterday and made the crunchy rice and Modern Pepper's guidance is excellent. What amazed me was the rice did not stick to the DolSot. I used sesame oil and butter per her instructions and it worked so well. Now to venture into making bibimbap.
Hi Helen, where can I buy the stone bowl “platter?” I have a few Korean super markets in the area, so maybe I can try there. How many inches is your pan that feeds 5? Thx
@@ModernPepper Hi Helen, Hope everything is well did you buy yours from H mart? In the SF Bay Area, I only know of H mart or Mega Mart, The rest are smaller or mom n pop type. Thanks for replying looking forward to hearing back.
@@DragonFruitDelish1 Please check out KukJae market in Daly City. Personally, I prefer to shop here than H mart. KukJae Market carries all the Korean brands that I have been using forever.
@@ModernPepper oh shoot. I was just at Burlingame, a stones throwaway from Daly City. So much for giving me another possible location to find the stone platter. I went to Mega Mart in both Sunnyvale and Fremont and they had nothing close to it. I am trying to avoid H Mart as the last time I was there I did not have a pleasant experience, but now they are third on my list because your suggestion will be the next place to try. Thank you thank you thank you again for going the extra mile and helping. Happy Easter by the way.
@@DragonFruitDelish1 Happy Easter 🐣. The staff at KukJae (especially in the household section) are so kind and helpful. The Latino gentleman that works in that section speaks perfect Korean🥰. If they don’t have it in stock, ask the staff when they’ll receive more.
Hi. I use fancy grade medium rice grains. Brands, it depends on what is on sale and which is New Crop. Here is my Korean rice tutorial ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NCGKLNEt2FE.html
Hi Mestiza👋. Yes, I believe that is true. There are so many similarities between Chinese and Korean cuisines, and also differences that make us uniquely different🥰
