Wow! I'm still wowed on how calm you are. you take criticism really well and stay positive. Most recipes I saw contained sugar. So far, none I searched had any problems on an infection. Hats off to you. I'm so excited to start making bath bombs and all thanks to you ❤️
Hi Violet Sparkles! Meringue powder helps make the frosting firm! Without it, the frosting can be sticky or dented easily. We definitely recommend using it. =) Also, we added warm distilled water to make the frosting wet. Sorry for any confusion!

Hi Josh! Avocado oil or sweet almond oil would be a good substitute! They're lightweight and moisturizing. =) Avocado oil: www.brambleberry.com/Avocado-Oil-P3198.aspx Sweet almond oil: www.brambleberry.com/Sweet-Almond-Oil-P3205.aspx
At first i thought she was making actual eating cupcakes, but the i heard her say sls and put on a chemical mask, and then i was like, whoa, mom would love this!
so the " bath fizzy cup cakes " and " pump up your bath time" and " bath bomb cupcakes" in clear big letter wasn't a big enough give away ? lol .. not to mention the title... and ya know ... citric acid is just yum
Hi Kismel Bermeo! I would definitely recommend monitoring your child the entire time they're in the tub to make sure they don't ingest this bath bomb. If they do, contact your doctor right away. You can also contact poison control 1 (800) 222-1222.
Hi Jordyn Gamble! We use a mask in this recipe because the powder can tickle the back of your throat. However, it is totally skin safe! Also, once it's mixed into your recipe, no mask is needed. =) You can definitely make a different recipe if you choose though! That's what's so awesome about making your own bath and beauty products. =)
hi soap queen, i wanted to know is the brambleberry fragrance oil skin safe to just add to a bath salt and body scrub recipe or do i need an additive? I miss you and can not wait until your next video post!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you.
Hi Anne-Marie. I'm using your recipe from your SoapQueen site: 3 tablespoons Meringue Powder 1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar 1 lb. Powdered Sugar 5 tablespoons Hot Water 1/4 teaspoon Fragrance Oil Disposable Frosting Bag 1M Frosting Tip My frosting is hardening perfectly. However, when placed in the bath, it doesn't melt. The whole top just floats in the water. If i use SLS, will that solve my problem? Thanks!!!
Hi Pamela Fitzhugh! We haven't had any problems with these bath bombs, but you can talk to your doctor with any concerns! Also, adding the frosting is optional. You can leave it off if you like. That's one of the fun things about making your own bath and beauty products! =) Also, while the SLS can cause irritation by itself, once it's mixed into the recipe it no longer does. Plus, it creates big bubbles in your tub! However, if you feel more comfortable you can make a more traditional bath fizzy with citric acid and baking soda. Learn how to do that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jgODHmkSTqQ.html
I've been watching tutorials all night and this is by far the best and most helpful. Thanks so much. I can't wait to order supplies from your site and get started!!
Amanda Rockett-Fadden Hi Amanda! So glad you like the tutorial, and thanks for watching! Have fun making these cupcakes. Definitely let us know how they turn out! =)
I use silicone molds like the one you used and I make bath bombs in them and I don't always use liners and the bath bombs pop right out really easily, just saying :)
I love this video! You can tell that Anne-Marie really had fun/enjoyed making this video! Are there plans for making videos on how to make lip balm or hot-process soap?
First, thank-you for all your wonderful videos! Now is it ok for me to use cooking mixer with these and then use the same beaters to use with food again? I read I shouldn't use same metal pots and utensils I use for soap and candles with food . I'm not sure about this because of the fragrance. Thanks!
Thanks so much for your suggestion Carol Osama! We'll definitely keep that in mind for future videos. =) You can also see a bath bomb in action in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jgODHmkSTqQ.html
Hi Beauty Tube! I'm not exactly sure! You may check your local grocery store for the ingredients. We've had the best luck with supplies from brambleberry.com. =)
Hi Aki Modrell! We've used these bath bombs with no trouble, but you can definitely skip the frosting if you like! It's great to be able to customize your products. =)
Is the SLS absolutely necessary? Can we omit it ? It kind of defeats the purpose of having lovely natural bath bomb cupcake. Also as we use sugar, in the bathtub do we become sticky with the meringue?
Hello! You can definitely leave out the SLS. I added it in this recipe because it creates great big bubbles, but it is an optional ingredient. I'll include some fizzy recipes that don't use SLS below. You can also substitute with SLSA, which is a natural product. Also, I have used these in the tub and didn't notice any stickiness. You may want to test one to see if you feel any though. =) Mini Heart Bath Bombs: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/bath-fizzies/show-love/ Sparkle Power Bath Bomb Tutorial: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/bath-fizzies/sparkle-power-bath-bomb-tutorial/ SLSA: www.brambleberry.com/Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfoacetate-SLSA-P5244.aspx
I love your videos and how you handle habitual complainers. (cough, cough, tomato queen ) You have my repect. You are so complete and easy to follow. Thank you. Can't wait to try this. BTW. The amount of soap to water dilution WILL NOT cause a yeastie beastie. Simple math. Some people should stay away from lab work.
@xxkleenexrockxx Don't use SLS... use SLSA. It does not penetrate the skin and its gentle won't irritate. Only use SLS if you want customers to complain about rashes and breakouts.
You said I could use cocoa butter instead of SLS. I am a big believer of using sulfate free body care. How much cocoa butter would I use to substitute? Also would I melt it first or how would I add it in? Thanks
I don't think just substituting Cocoa Butter for SLS will work well in this recipe - since the SLS is a powder and when melted the cocoa butter will be a liquid (of course, I haven't tried it - if you do and it works I'd love to know!). I have an SLS free recipe that was shared with me form a guest host in this video How to Frost the Perfect Bath Fizzy . So that might be a better alternative for you! Or if you want to make a bath melt style topping maybe a whipped body butter would be the perfect topping. How to Make Whipped Body Butter
LOVE LOVE LOVE bathbombs! Got to make my first batch a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the process. Great website, great RU-vid channel, great teaching! Thank you Anne-Marie! =)
@MsMollerz45 goodearthbonnie is me, too. I posted under the wrong acct. I just wanted you to know that reply was from me. Please look up SLS. My best friend used SLS once and broke out in rash over her entire body. Please don't use SLS. I make my comments to inform, not to be rude. I would not purchase any product with SLS nor would I use it in my own.
Hi Hannah Schamber! We haven't noticed any problems with these cupcakes, but you may want to double check with your doctor to be sure! Also, adding the frosting is optional. That's one of the great things about making your own bath and beauty products. =)
How many cupcake bath bombs will the frosting recipe ice? Can I 1/2 the recipe, 1/4 the recipe and add powdered sugar as sub for SLS quantity? 1 more q sorry. Can citric acid be added to the frosting or epsom salts?
The SoapyLove line was discontinued. Sorry about that! We do have some awesome fragrances that will work for this recipe though. I'll include links below. =) Orange Peel Cybilla Fragrance Oil: www.brambleberry.com/Orange-Peel-Cybilla-Fragrance-Oil-P3391.aspx Vanilla Select Fragrance Oil: www.brambleberry.com/Vanilla-Select-Fragrance-Oil-P3888.aspx
xxemoquotexx Hi there! Sugar adds stability to the frosting, and helps it harden up! We love using it in the recipe. Also, because it's a small amount in a large tub of water, we haven't noticed any stickiness when using it. You may want to test one out in your tub and see what you think just to be sure. =)
Guy Montag Hi there! We haven't had any problems with these bath bombs in the tub, but you can talk to your doctor with any concerns you may have! Also, adding the frosting is definitely optional. You can leave it off if you like. That's one of the great things about making your own bath and beauty products - the ability to customize! =)
hi soap queen! can you tell me the name of this red mixing machine, I have seen a stick blender, but this machine you are using, I never see it and can I make a request, hope you will review it, your shop have a mini set of essential oils, can you make a mini set for frange oils (about 10 scents or more), because you know, you have a lot a lot of FO, and it makes me a little bit difficult of choice, it's exactly I don't know how to choose, with EO, I can image the scent, because it is made from natural flowers, plants that we have known, I or you can classify the scents: fresh smell, sweet smell, strong smell, natural smell, gently smell..... thanks a lot
Hi there! This is a Stand Mixer with a 5 Quart Bowl. You can find it at the link below! www.brambleberry.com/Stand-Mixer-with-5-Quart-Glass-Bowl-P5605.aspx
What's a good substitute for meringue powder? My kids are allergic to egg. It wouldn't likely cause a serious reactions since it's topical, but it might cause hives or skin irritation. Thanks.
Her too-enthusiastic fake smile makes me cringe. I hate when youtube channels try to act like TV shows. :P I'm sure the recipe is fine and the product is good, but the way it's presented just throws me off.
These are really cute, but it is my experience that the top is just a hard lump in the tub. I have found a recipe for frosting that actually bubbles like the "cake" part and doesn't use meringue powder or sugar.
I know you've likely answered this before but is sodium lauryl sulfate safe? When i googled it to see where too buy it all i can see are websites talking about it being toxic...
Hi! I tried this and my frosting did not harden. Any ideas why? (I used SLSA and castor oil instead of SLS and jojoba oil) For the record, I am kind of glad it didn't harden (I had some left over and found it makes a really great bubble bath when held under running water) I am keeping the rest of the leftovers in the fridge since I didn't use a preservative. If I add preservative and try to make the non-hardening frosting again would I still need to refridgerate it? Thank you!! :)
Hello soapqueentv please help me Iam 15 years old and we are doing a buissness enterprise. And we chose bath bomb cupcake as our idea. Everything was going great we even madr it and it looked nice but there was a problem with the rules. Baking powder and citric acid mixed together us a 'potion' and we are not allowed to. How can we get a bath bomb base without mixing? Please help Thankyou soo much!
Hi this is an urgent qusetion and i would really want to know the answer to.. Im making cupcake bath bombs and for the base and the frosting i want to use the same fragrance but i want to use a perfume... specifically like bath and body works spray ( because i love the scent ) do you think that, that is okay or i shouldnt?? PLease respond i really want to know as soon as possible :) Thank You!
I was wondering, how the "Frosting" dissolves int he bath tub, and how long it takes. Would it be possible to use whipped melt and pour soap as a topping, or would this make the bomb prematurely react? I think I saw melt and pour topping on a cupcake bath bomb somewhere, which it why I ask. My last question... If it is possible to use whipped melt and pour soap, would ti risk prematurely reacting the bath bomb after wards since, glycerin attracts moisture to itself. Thank you. :)
Oh thanks!!last thing.I ve made the recipe 3 times already and it seems I have the same problem..after one day the cupcakes look fantastic dry and solid.the problem is that sometimes if I accidentally grab them from the frosting to put them into nice liitle bags the frosting comes off.long story short the frosting doesn't stick well to the base of the bomb.is this how it should be that's why you grab them from the base?
I made the frosting and followed the recipe and every time I tried to pipe it .. it would fall flat never formed and I was piping a 5 pound loaf of soap.... and I tried over and over it never worked so I had to throw it away... I wasn't a happy camper at all...I have no clue what had happened.
Hi Anne-Marie! i just have a quetion, if i want to make a bathbomb cupcake, does the stuff in it affect sensitive skin? I so want to make the bathbomb cupcake and i dont know if it could start me into an irritatingly icthy fase like i do with certain soaps. please reply soon, and also thank you for all of the soap queen episodes -amyleebigfan290
@GummyLegna - first off all, i make them myself and i'm gonna open my shop very soon so i've asked Anne Marie ( not you btw) for professional opinion, cos I've read on other similar channels about it. second of all, i don't need your sick replays on my comment because you have some disturbing thoughts.
@soapqueentv Thanks for your reply. Will brambleberry deliver to Australia? Because I'm getting so excited looking through what to choose and then realised sending soap might be difficult. Everything looks so cute! I've been looking for the perfect craft project to start getting creative and you've sold soaping to me :D
does it make a large bubble bath? i would like for a recipe to make cupcake bubble baths that would make large bubbles to fill a whole tub but could'nt find any :( thank u
I tried a batch last night. After icing the cupcake bath bombs I stick them in the freezer for a few minutes to help the icing set. After sitting for a day they are pretty hard. I'm going to let them sit for about 3 days before I try to package them. I had alot of fun making mini ones.
If you buy a bath bomb at Lush, Body basics, The body shop etc., many of them contain a lot of glitter (for eg. "Sunnyside" from Lush contains a huuuuge amount of glitter) and if anybody had some health problems with it, they would have to stop selling it. So I guess it´s okay...
Ive finally made my cupcake bath bombs Yay! They smell and look Fab, just have a problem you may be able to help me with. My frosting seems to dry sooo quickly (even as iam piping it) and when i try to add my sprinkles they wont stick . Thank you for all your advise youve been a great help. :))
I'd like to suggest you consider making toilet bombs to drop in the toilet between cleanings. They'd be especially great in high traffic households. :-)
Thanks so much for the suggestion Jody! You may like this Fizzy Toilet Freshener recipe: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/home-crafts/fizzy-toilet-fresheners/
Hi Annie ,if i don´t want to use SLS , because of my skin is very sensitive. what can i use instead of it ? or is it necesarry for this recipe ? thanks :)
Hi Anne-Marie, is there anything you can substitute for the meringue powder? I live in NZ so it is Not as easy as walking into a supermarket in the states ! It is also quite expensive being $20.24 USD when converted ! Hope you have a lovely day !
Can you show us how to use these? I put 1 in a large cup of water, and the frosting made the water feel sticky(i used the recipe at little birdie secrets) it WAS NOT a good feeling, it left clumps of gooey, nasty icing all up in the bowl! please help!
Can you buy SLS at a store? I would like to make these within the week and don't have time for shipping if I bought online. I know you can find citric acid for the bath bomb at a pool supplies store. Can you also find SLS there?
I noticed. I ordered some earlier this month :) But, unfortunatly I think theres something that I'm doing wrong because I keep failing once I get to the frosting. Its really disappointed, but I wont give up :)
Actually, I've a great solution regarding the lady parts and unwanted ingredients (glitter, sugar). Wear disposable panties. I go to a spa therapy at my beautician's and they always provide disposable panties for my bath.
Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone have an idea where Citric Acid can be bought in Ohio (or is it only on line?) (USA) Went all over and couldn't find any. Other then that, love the vid! :)
@soapqueentv Thanks abunch, I think I may have used too much but I am going to try both next time, I hated having to peel off the paper in little tiny pieces...lol Thanks again..for everything you are AWESOME!!
I Think you should do cupcake melts! The melts themselves come out fine for me but I'm wondering if this frosting recipe would be OK to use on top of the melts? Any ideas for what to use as frosting?
Avery Yasuda That sounds like a great idea! Also, I think this frosting would be great for cupcake melts. =) You may also like our Foaming Bath Butter Frosting! Find that recipe here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/melt-and-pour-soap/foaming-bath-whip-frosting/
Meringue powder is normally sold in craft stores in the US. So, if you have something like a JoAnne's or Micheal's in Sweden, I'd check there before a grocery store. Of course, there's also the internet.
Where can I find decorative "nicknacks" such as beads for my soaps? I am a little confused because I have seen people use sugar decorative type stuff, is that good? Thank you in advance for helping me.
Depending wear your are... In Canada they sell it at Bulk Barns. Some Grocery Stores carry it as well. I have also seen it at Michaels Craft store. If you have any local baking/craft stores take a look.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate it is used as a bubbling agent in most beauty products to make a nice lather but the research on it is not good! I would advice doing your own to draw your own conclusion.
I have read that SLS and SLSA are pretty much the same. Any feedback on that? I was researching SLSA since I already know that SLS in not really a safe ingredient. So many recipes use them.
