Today's video is all about chalk paste!! I love making my own chalk paste because it gives me so much freedom with mixing my own colors and also the amount I make. Chalk paste is my go-to when I want crisp lines every time with my Ikonart stencils, and this DIY version couldn't be easier. Just mix Coco's Chalky Powder in a 1:1 ratio with any acrylic craft paint and BOOM! Done! xx Fawn

You can use any acrylic paint color or mix your own

I love the chalk paste recipe and I bought the ikon art kit but have not used it yet because the inkjet printer film and the textile film is too expensive, any other ideas on any sales on the textile film

If you put this on a chalkboard, is it erasable? How would you do that? And would you need to "season" the chalkboard first? Btw.. this is beautiful! :-) Thank you

Yes, you can! As long as you use a chalk paste (or make your own using the Coco’s Chalky Powder that we sell on our site) you can remove that paste when you want to change designs.

Could you use chalk paste for a sign that will be used both inside and outside?

Yes, but you would probably want to seal it with some sort of clear coat if it will be outside in different weather conditions

I’m going to hobby lobby. Can this chalk paste be used on coffee mugs? I want to use as permanent for coffee mugs and tee-shirts. **update** Went to hobby lobby after seeing your video. I got the stuff to make the chalk paint. I got small bottles of Anita’s acrylic paint. Thank you I will let you know how it turns out.

For coffee mugs we use FolkArt Multi Surface and for shirts we use Speedball Fabric Ink, both available at Hobby Lobby

Do you know how to make chalk ink, where you can heat seal it on ceramic or do you sell chalk ink?

I’m not sure about that. We use DecoArt Multi Surface paints on ceramic.

@@sarndav the stencils can be used on fabric with a fabric screen printing ink like Speedball, but we don’t recommend Coco’s Chalky Powder for fabric

So if this is heat set on fabric does it make it permanent like chalk paste or will it wash out ???

We use Speedball Screen Printing Ink on all our fabric with these stencils. Chalk paste is meant to be washed away. I don't think this would be permanent on fabric but I haven't tested it.

What is the ratio of paint to powder?

I usually do about a one to one ratio, but it can easily be adjusted for your preference. It will also depend on your paint. Some paint brands are more watery and will require more powder, while others will require less.

I missed what powder is used? Just baby powder? Soooo I bought, Walmarts chalk acrylic paint and want to make it into a paste... Dump the whole jar of paint into a measuring bowl so I know how much, then add same amount of powder? And stir good? Sick of buying chalk couture paste lol
