4 oz Container Soy Wax (Nature Wax C-3)
1 oz Deodorized Cocoa Butter
4 oz Avocado oil
5 oz Shea butter
.5 oz Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
.5 oz Patchouli Essential Oil
4 - 6 oz candle tins with lids
4 wu 250 wicks
☑️ Please note: The ingredient list contains a typo -it should read 1 ounce of Cocoa Butter. If you use 4 ounces, your massage candle will be a little softer but will still work wonderfully.

Some candle fragrances from Aussie Candle Supplies & Eroma in Australia are skin safe. Ecosoya CB135 Soy Wax is also skins safe It's best to use a double boiler method

hi soap queen. i made some relaxing lavender Vanilla lotion bars yesterday and they turned out perfect. just made some almond biscotti lotion bars just now n the smell and feel amazing.. using CB-135 Soy Wax is awesome and happy i switched from Pillar blend. i can do so much and im paying $37.70 for 6kg with postage $15.40 & takes up to 4 days to arrive.. iv made Massage Melts, Massage Candles, Soy Melts, Scented Candles & Lip Balms, also has a amazing scent throw... im in love with CB-135 Soy Wax

Thank you for this great recipe, I added some coconut oil as well. Once melted, the oil makes an amazing lotion. My question is, why can't i smell anything when i burn the candle, where did I go wrong? I used organic essential oils but nothing. Any suggestion? Thank you

Love the candles! I see that Nancy has done one that looks like ice cream. Can you do a video on how to achieve this? Hi there! Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, meaning it will make the recipe a bit more firm. I would recommend making a small test batch to see if you like the way it feels on your skin. =)

Question would 16oz of Soy wax, 8 oz of Shea butter, 8oz cocoa butter and 8oz of coconut be a safe and good candle recipe? Maybe 2 oz of oil?

your written recipe says 4oz Soy Wax 4 oz Coco Butter (deodorized) 4 oz Avocado oil 5 oz Shea Butter then your essential oil . But your video says to add 1oz of Coco Butter ? Which one should I follow to get the right consistency?

That's a typo - sorry about that! It should read 1 ounce of cocoa butter. If you use 4 ounces, your massage candle will be a little softer, but will still work wonderfully. =)

Hey anne is that 90 degrees Fahrenheit or celcius. And instead of 1/2 oz of ylang ylang oil and 1/2 oz of patchouli oil can I use 1 oz of lavender oil or 1/2 oz of it? Thank you:)

Hi there! Thanks for answering my previous question, and I'm just wondering if Ecosoya PB wax can be used in this kind of candle and what can you use as a replacement for deodorized cocoa butter? Using this recipe, how long would the shelf life of this candle be? Also, if a person forgot to blow out the candle and just poured the oil on their skin, would they be ok? Hi Raven! You're welcome! EcoSoya Pillar Blend Wax would work well in this recipe! It is a softer wax with a lower melting point, making it perfect for massage candles. =) EcoSoya Pillar Blend Wax: www.brambleberry.com/EcoSoya-Pillar-Blend-Wax-P4700.aspx As for the cocoa butter, you can substitute that will shea or mango butter. Keep in mind cocoa butter is a little more firm than those butters, so it will change the texture slightly. A small test batch may be helpful. =) Shea butter: www.brambleberry.com/Shea-Butter-P3220.aspx Mango butter: www.brambleberry.com/Mango-Butter-P3221.aspx Also, this recipe should last about a year or so! We definitely recommend blowing out the candle before pouring it. If not, the hot waxes and oils may burn the skin. Safety is important when it comes to using these candles! =)

Hello! I didn't take the temperature, but that mixture was probably around 160-190F. Waxes and cocoa butter have a higher melt point, so it takes a little time for them to liquefy. =) Also, essential oils can be tricky in candles. Some, like Peppermint Essential Oil, can irritate the mucous membranes in your nose. This mean it can cause irritation if it's heated up in a candle! I would recommend reading the description of each essential oil on brambleberry.com and making test batches to see how they smell in candles. =) Essential oils: www.brambleberry.com/Original-C23.aspx

When applying the massage oil on to the body would it solidify after awhile? Eg would it turn back into a wax on the body?

Hi! Love this video. There is a slight discrepancy...the recipe at the beginning of the video says to use 4oz of cocoa butter but during the voiceover portion when you're weighing out the ingredients you say 1oz of cocoa butter. So is it 4oz or 1oz?

+luznegra The ingredients in this recipe will melt when they come in contact with your skin! If you like, you can use this as a balm instead of a candle. To do that, just pour the melted mixture into the tins, let it cool and apply to skin. If you find the balm is a bit too firm, you can reduce the amount of wax by an ounce or so. =)

Hi Anne-Marie, Sorry to be a pain, seeing as its very warm on the other side of the world, what can I change to make it a little harder, so it does not melt in the heat. Also can I use Jojoba oil instead of Avocado oil, and still have the same outcome?

Hi Evie! Adding more deodorized cocoa butter to this recipe will add some firmness. Also, you can definitely substitute jojoba oil. Although the oils are similar, the texture will be slightly different. ive just did 7! but the wicks are killing me..cause it was ur recipe but my curled wicks.ive should wax them first with beeswas (i thought it would be ok if i wax them with soyawax).:), but at least now they look even and smell nice.is an improvement.(did i mentioned that my first candle massage I did it with beewax, by confusion, and it was a promissed first night wedding candle massage for a friend?:)..I had time to fix it...now he has 2.one for the table (with sheabutter!) and 1 for the.wife

To resize recipes, it helps to find out the percentage of each ingredient! To find out the percentages, add up the total weight of the recipe. In this case, that's 15 ounces. Then, divide each ingredient by 15 to get the percentage. So, 4 ounces divided by 15 ounces is 26.6%. Hi there! We have other waxes, but they have a higher melting point than soy wax. That means by the time they're melted, they may burn the skin. We definitely don't recommend using those waxes! +Dangerm5 You can, but the candles will have a slightly different consistency, and may be a bit softer overall. I would recommend making a small test batch to see what you think. =)

my wife makes these and uses stickums and puts a hole in paddle pop sticks to help her wicks stay straight. also instead of using the 1kg massage blend shes decided to switch to CB135 is this ok soap queen? it says in the instuctions it can be used for massage candles, lip balms, melts and scented candles and at $40 for 5kg she's saving money. also we are in australia and finding it hard to buy white beeswax pellets or white blocks.. do u recommend anywhere?? we would buy from overseas as some sell pure beeswax candles for $2.30 but my wife says that we dont know if the bees are diseased or not.. any help n great.

The EcoSoya 135 Wax should be just fine to use! So, I made these last night. I checked on them this morning and they're still soft... Like, they didn't harden up. I only noticed when I trimmed the wicks, they were moving around and the candle was kind of gooey. Is this normal? I'm thinking about melting them back down and adding more wax to firm them up a bit. I did use a different wax (also skin safe) and modified the soft oils (kept the hard oils the same, though). What's going on? The wax I used is quite soft as it is, I'm wondering if I just need to add a bit more to the recipe...

Marissa Valenza These candles are designed to be a little softer. However, they do set up! If you're finding they're a bit soft, you can melt them down and add more wax and hard oil. That should help them set up. =)

Marissa Valenza the recipe listed on the video is wrong. She has said in other comments that she accidentally listed 4oz of cocoa butter when it should be only 1oz. Maybe that?

I made a batch yesterday, this time I only used 1 oz of Cocoa Butter, but they're actually softer than when I messed up and used too much Cocoa Butter. :( They are so soft that when I tip the tins the content runs. Not sure what I did wrong. Should I remelt and add more wax? Oh, and do you measure the Avocado Oil by weight or by volume? Thanks in advance!
