Chef E-Dubble has cooked his way from the streets of South Central to the kitchens of comedy clubs, all the way to catering private parties for the likes of Drake, The Game, and T-Pain. But today, he's here to teach you how to make his famous braised cabbage. Plus, you can take that cabbage, add some shrimp or bacon, whip up some "Everything Tastes Better Sauce," and make an egg roll that will put your local Chinese spot to absolute shame.

I see there are some real haters on this video. It amazes me how much effort and energy is placed into being negative. Well I personally have had his cooking and his food is great. Very tasty and on point unlike some chefs food ( under seasoned or not seasoned at all). I so miss being in L.A., I miss Sunday brunch prepared by him. Y'all don't know what y'all missing.

This guy's the first chef I've seen on Munchies that I actually like. Many of other guys who behave like teenage boys who have just discovered profanity are painfully annoying. E-Dubble is so chill and seems to really respect food. A breath of fresh air. More of this man, please!

I made the braised cabbage tonight. It was soooo good! I'll try the actual egg rolls later. Thanks for a simple recipe. I added a lot of red pepper flakes. Mine was extra spicy, but delicious!

To summarize the issues that you will find in this video: He refers to the method in which he used to cook his cabbage as braising, which would be true had he really done any cooking after the initial charring, once the cabbage released its liquid. Problem with doing that is that it results in mushy cabbage. What you see here is sauteing, which entails browning, but preservation of liquid within the cabbage. Dude said that he cooked his shrimp for 10 minutes, which is completely wrong. It's amazing that he is fascinated with getting a char on his cabbage, but fell short on the shrimp, which is where the very same technique should be used. Quickly searing both sides of shrimp takes literally 4 minutes. The bacon looked fine at the end, and probably tasted great.

everything except he didnt braise the cabbage he just kinda sauted it lol. Braising is cooking in liquid for a long time after a sear. also hes like dont overcook the shrimp. overcooks the shrimp into a tight rubbery curl. but just dont do that and ur golden great recipe

***** Teflon is actually being phased out for environmental/health reasons I've already forgotten haha. But cast iron pans are the real deal because they become "seasoned" over time and therefore 100% non-stick as opposed to teflon, which in reality is very easy to get things stuck to. A cast iron pan is NEVER washed with soap, only hot water and a good scrub. Then you massage a little oil into it and heat it up on the stove for a few minutes before putting it away. This creates an oily seasoning that acts as a true non-stick surface. Eventually you can get away with using almost no oil/butter for things like french toast, pancakes, etc. and they won't stick. Now you know! Happy cooking :)

Noah Covell ***** No hater here. :) Yes, PTFE is only stable until about 260-300 degrees. After that, it emits toxic fumes and substances that contributes to everything from affecting male fertility to killing birds (seriously). Go with cast iron or the uncommon (but awesome) carbon steel pan. Make sure you season with FLAXSEED OIL in many layers before cooking. You will enjoy safe, non-stick pans for the rest of your life.

specialk22tt I was gonna say ceramic are the best, but a lot of them are made in China and I won't put anything in my mouth that was manufactured in China. Well seasoned cast iron it is. An entire pound of bacon is a perfect way to season your skillet!

Drty Porcelain I agree. Pork fat is a good saturated fat to keep your seasoned pan in good shape (along with coconut oil, red palm oil, etc), but a base seasoning of flaxseed oil is second to none. I love bacon.

Many people do not know this, the secret to make best cabbage egg roll is you need to take the water out of the cabbage before you wrap it in to egg roll, the dry cabbage egg roll when you fry it, it will give the egg roll a crisp taste

That's not braising the cabbage. Braising is something else.

Braising would be cooking slowly in liquid. This is browning or frying.

I actually thought the same thing, he also used the word "sear" which I found a bit odd as well. Searing to me is usually refering to flesh meats and means to lock in he juices. I guess he needed to lock in them cabbage juices.

+hansoulglo I disagree, searing usually refers to meats and it sounds odd to say "get a good "sear" on your cabbage". So would it be totally acceptable to say I seared the onions when in reality its sauteeing onions?
