How to Make Enamel Filigree Cookie Boxes - A SugarVeil® Products Collaboration

So if you thought SugarVeil® lace was only for cakes, boy were you ever wrong! This week’s video is part of a special collaboration with seven of my fellow RU-vidrs, where we show how to use SugarVeil® lace and other products on wedding-themed cookies and cupcakes. My project is a fancy enamel filigree box made of cookies, intended to be an edible bridal shower gift. To make it, SugarVeil®products were used in several ways: to emboss the lids and feet, to wrap the sides, and to pose as colorful enamel all over it!

2 (2 3/4-inch) fluted cookie rounds, for lid and base

I've found that for flouring dough (I've used it for pie crust doughs, bread doughs, and cookie doughs) I'm not very good at distributing the flour, so I use one of those shakers that you see for oregano and red pepper flakes at pizza places. The holes are larger than salt shakers, (which I also tried) so the flour doesn't clump and refuse to come out. I mean, you probably don't even need that, but maybe it would help some other people. Thank you for your videos; I am so amazed at the delicacy and incredible detail, each video is even more impressive than the last! Thank you for sharing these!

This reminds of Flora Danica china. The more elaborate pieces are the smaller serving items like the sugar bowl and custard bowl. The difference is, your creations are more detailed, more ornate and simply magnificent. You truly are an artist and your designs are jaw dropping.

Stunning, Julia! Just for fun I went to the Sugar Veil web site. I never knew how these edible lace sheets were made. The Rose Mantilla is my favorite design. I could only image the stunning pieces people could make out of that.

I genuinely can't understand why you're not insanely famous yet. And I'm dead serious. I watch tons upon tons of cake and cookie artists, and there are none that compare to your sheer level of detail. I love doing deco cookies, have done them for years. Well even if it wasn't totally in focus etc you can still see what you are doing. You have such great details with each piece of your art that anything else in the background would distract from your cookie details. The white background provided a great backdrop to show your details (even if it wasn't in focus all the time). Hopefully they'll fix that next time ; )

Hi Julia! Again, you have me captured and spell bound. This design is so stunning. I have the sugar veil site on my top list but I'm not sure I can do it. I was happy to hear that you cut a mat for easier handling. I wondered if doing that would damage the mat. I'm also happy to learn you can emboss dough with the mat/s. Maybe I shouldn't concern myself with the size of the mat as the lace can be cut down. I'm just too leery... Anyway, as you know, I am always appreciative of your tutorials, designs, instructions, tips/tricks, and the beautiful use of your color combinations.

I may be wrong but it looks like each of you mixed it differently... I'll probably watch the tutorials again and maybe ask her a few questions. ***** yeah you have a point. I am trying to save up for a stand mixer. trying to do anything living on disability is tough. I really want a good stand mixer it takes me awhile to get stuff, but Ill get there. just you show me so much I want to do, and wish I could get to it right away hehehe.

This is really wonderful. I love all your work and this is no exception to that! From the collaboration I especially love the fact that each participant shows another use of SugarVeil. The collaboration gives a good impression of what’s possible with this product. I have seen SugarVeil before, but I thought it was not worth trying. Now I think I’m gone spend some savings on some SugarVeil products. (SugarVeil, the trick worked ;-) ) This week I tried your approach of needlepoint (which I also love!) and wondered if there wasn’t a more Easy (and lees time consuming) way to make the grid. I was trying out some things, but I just saw that SugarVeil also has a mold for a woven mat. Do you think that will do the trick? Thanks for showing this!

Your so talented. I paint, I just gave a speech about food art. My mother made cakes growing up that I didn't want to eat. They were so pretty. I don't think everyone knows how much time and money go into these cakes. Friends would pay her 5$.

***** yes, nothing important. I went to college for art. Stayed in touch with my art teacher. I really use it as a hobby. But I talked to her about high end baking and cooking art. So she said, hey talk to the kids. Alot of them think that high end baking is pressing a cookie cutter over fondant. It can be. But I wanted them to see things like this. It's another form of art that a talented person can make a career out of if they were interest. But your things are so lovely. This is my private, searching comment account.
