LOVE LOVE LOVE how you have inspired me, you literally changed my life, I started gardening and bringing birds to my (new) container garden because of finding your inspiring videos this year. I am struggling chronic illness and watching the birds that come is THE BEST TV/Entertainment I could ever of asked for, cancelled cable. Have a purpose each day to get up and check on my garden. I feel very blessed and have a new found purpose in life...praying my health will improve as I continue to garden...it’s been very very rough over past 7 years as I’ve progressively gotten much more sick, but regardless of what happens to my life I feel very blessed to have found some peace in the garden I started it wirh $6 totes and the humming bird and wild bird feeders I now get to enjoy. I just wanted to say THANK YOU and BLESS YOU
OMG, I am speechless...You are such an inspiration for all here, and I will say, that the most important thing when anyone is ill or not feeling well is to keep our stress levels down and to FEEL good/happy inside, and that is when our body can do what it needs to do to heal. Your gardening will keep you HAPPY busy, and the birds in your area will know you are bring life to your yard by your gardening, so they will be there for you to enjoy. Remember, for the birds to come and stay, they need Water, Food and a place they can dart into to hide; I now have hummingbirds in my rainbow garden hiding in my totes in the broccoli, so funny. You are so welcome, but most of all, Thank you so much 😊
@@lauraw79 your story touch my heart and I'm literally in tears right now as I type this, so inspiring. I'm so happy to hear that you found a purpose and not let this illness stop you from getting out of bed. Yes there is something very peaceful about garden especially when there are birds, butterflies and other nature friends around. I enjoy sitting on my garden swing and watch birds drinking and taking bath and every now and then I'm blessed to see deers stopping by which makes everything all better. Looks like I'm going to try to make this fountain as add on. I might not know you but I'll be thinking of you 🙏. Keep doing what you're doing and everything is going to be ok.
AWWW!!! You are soooo sweet!!! I love how you love your hummingbirds!!! One of mine was inches from my face this morning just hanging out checking me out as I sat under my pop up canopy drinking my coffee. They do this a lot every year after I set it up. LOVE IT!!
Hi Robbie, I found you about two weeks ago. I began playing your hummingbird videos on my tv and listening while I worked in my home. I have had several great feeders but never put them out. Your encouragement and common sense expertise gave me motivation to put them out. It has been such a joy! Then I began listening to and watching your gardening tours. OMG you are truly a genius! Your innovative ideas and insights should be part of a university curriculum! You have an amazing brain! You are a thinker!!! I subscribed so I could learn from you. I have been caring for my husband who had minor surgery. He has never supported my gardening aspirations. I used to have small areas where I grew some basic veggies. Your ideas have given me great ideas and while he has been bedridden I purchased the variety of potting soils or gardening soils that were on clearance. I went to a local thrift shop and got some amazing items that will make awesome bird baths. I had four pumps for fountains that I had never made fountains for, until I watched your various fountain ideas. Your creative ideas have inspired me. I went to Home Depot and got cement products for use in my yard. There is a medium called Hypertufa which is Portland Cement mixed with Peat Moss. It can be used to make flower pots, decorative items and BALLS which can be used for your awesome hummingbird baths. I bought a ball to use like you did and I’m going to go to the thrift store to look for glass globes. The cement can be added then when it’s dry you just put it in a bag and break the glass to reveal the masterpiece. I ordered Tulle and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Anyway......Awesome Lady from California, Thank you, you are such a blessing to the world! Take care and God Bless! Julie from Utah!
On my first attempt the paint didn't completely dry and was washing into the water. I repainted it with a thick coat and let it dry for a week. It's no longer affected by the water and is safe for the birds. I'm going to try it out after a few days of testing indoors
What a nice thing to do, that made their day and probably saved a few lives in the process. No one knows where every hummingbird comes from nor how far they have flown without water. I love it and may do this next year in March, we really don’t have a real winter. Take care and thanks for the wonderful information.
This is very cute! I'm just wondering though, is the styrofoam safe for the birds? And just wondering if it would mold inside? How is yours holding up?
Yes! Robbie, I love you! I live in Central Illinois. I saw my first hummingbird at my feeders. I have been praying for them to come! I was washing dishes ....there it was!
I just LOVE this idea for a bird bath with the solar pump! 😍 It looks SO simple, and I have nearly everything to make it! Living in a retirement community with a tiny outdoor patio, this will make an excellent draw for the birds, plus give many of my neighbors enjoyment as well. And hopefully educate my grandchildren too!
Those blessed little humming birds!! You are so sweet to add your power bank so the water would still run for them. Thank you for this wonderful and simple way to make a fountain!!
You are such a sweetheart. I love your projects and how loving you are our the birds of the world.🙋♀️ I also love❤ hummingbirds. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas and projects❤🙏❤
Wow, do you know how many points you are earning from the good Lord by taking care of His delicate creations. Your videos bring a smile and a joy in my heart.God bless.
My beautiful sister you never now how much you inspire so many sisters and friends to do something like that, especially if they have some kind of incapacity ,someone could do it for them and here we go , they could have such amazing nature kind of love. So much grateful my dear Sister you're from heaven.
You are so full of love!!! You make me happy… sometimes! 😂 just kidding…. I love you… I’m in Los Angeles and you inspire me to love hummingbirds they love the nectar!! Thank you and God bless you🥰🌺💐💐💐
THANK YOU and HAPPY MOTHER'S day to you, THIS fountain is a blast!!! I am making them for gifts, more to come to come on this FUN STYLE of birdbath! Again, THANK YOU!
I just love your channel! Your ingenuity never ceases to amaze me! I'm definitely going to do this! Thank you, for brightning up ours ( and the hummingbirds) lives! Happy Mother's Day! ;0)
I have been trying to attract hummingbirds to my outdoor space for four years now at three different homes (moved three times due to a bad flood at my previous home) and tried everything including fountains. Then I realized I might have my fountain too close to my back door and window since a lot of activity is near there but so is the power outlet. I finally decided to get a solar pump for under $20 and convert my existing fountain to solar so that I could place it farther away from my door and closer to the food sources. My pump arrived yesterday and I set it up today. I almost lost it when I saw two hummingbirds fly down and check out my fountain and then they saw the feeders and came back about an hour later to feed. I could not believe it. Thank you so much on all your ideas. I was about to give up after trying for years.
I watched this video yesterday and today while beachcombing, I found a Styrofoam model head... like a human head! It's so cool and the second I laid eyes on it, I knew it was going to this project! It's gonna look so cool! I ordered two solar pump kits, so I can even do another. Thank you for the inspiration!!!
I had to rush out of town so I havent put it together yet but the pumps arrived in my absence, perhaps I could make a quick video when I do, giving our good Robbie of a Thousand Hummingbirds credit. (That's her title in my home conversations! XOXO) Sometime in the next month, Illl make it, share it and see it I can tag her.
This lady is amazing!!! Not for doing such a project but because she made especial for the birds i hope she knows that God helps those who love his defendless creatures like the birds
Hi. Robbie and lil miss Adorable Kitty. Nora here. My husband and i. Went out to Walmart and the Dollar store. We bought some styrofoam balls and painted them one looks like a rock and one your colours the Mossy looking one. And one my husband painted to look like the Earth . Thanks for your Awesome Ideas. Were getting started on the fountains. We made 1 last summer a water solar fountain. Placed it on our Bedroom Balcony. We enjoyed Watching them on the Humming bird feeders and there solar bath. We bought these red tubular flower tree for the balcony they sit and perch on it. My husband and i would like to Thank you and Gary and lil Miss Kitty for all your videos. Se you. Take care and be well.
I followed your instructions, left it there for at least a week and didn't see any hummers. Just for context I live in the center of a large city in a 2nd floor condo. But then one day I forgot to plug it in early. One of them came onto my deck and hovered there looking at it, went to my bedroom window, then the slider looking inside for me. I went out and plugged it in and within 2 minutes he was back. A hummingbird splashing around in water is one of the most enjoyable things I've ever seen. Ill admit, they're not fond of me watching them, so I just stay away and give them space. Thank you for this...I never would have been able to see this with my own eyes without it! And thank you for finding the power bank for the little guy:)
I had a hard time finding then 5/16" ID tubing, so I used milkshake straws. They're bigger than notmal straws. I taped 2 together with duct tape and it works great!!! 50 straws for $3.79. I made this fountain for my Mom for Mother's Day and a planted arrangement with flowers that Hummingbirds love ❤️ ❤ Thank you for sharing this fun project!
Robbie, I am so excited. I just made the hummingbird water fountain yesterday. (took less than an hour to make) and today I just saw my first hummingbird laying/bathing on the fountain. This is so thrilling for me. I've watched your tutorial on hummingbird feeders and how to make the mixture. I've had my hummingbird feeder up for about a month now and the hummingbirds love it. At first they fought over it and now they all take turns drinking up the sweet concoction. I am just amazed that it took less than one day for a hummingbird to bathe on the fountain. Thank you so much Robbie for your positive attitude in your videos and for showing us viewers inexpensive ways to make the hummingbirds happy. Just know that you may not be able to see it, but you bring smiles and joy to us. Thanks for making these videos.
Absolutely love this idea. I've been struggling with the ball/cement method. This will be so easy to make. I bought 5 of those battery powered pumps a year or so ago and haven't used them yet. The combo is perfect. Thanks Robbie... my hummingbirds will be so happy.
Wonderful! I had a feeling most would not want to deal with cement, this is even better and more fun, Take Care 😊 (I just order 6 more Green Balls now)
What a fantastic video. I saw my first hummingbird for this year yesterday. I hung up my newest feeder but have not cleaned the ones from prior years yet. Now I need a fountain. Easy and inexpensive, everyday items and simple instructions and tools. I plan one for front and back yards. The best part was the battery operation. Not as sunny in the Northeast as California. That hummingbird looked so disappointed. You are definitely hummingbirds best friend.
The hummingbirds are amazing and sweet to watch, Just so glad I had the little battery operated pump so I could get it set up fast, Thank you so much 😊
I love that you put the finished system into a container that covers the water reservoir. My birdbath becomes hotter than you'd want for a bath. The birds only use it first thing in the morning. I'm going to make a bunch of these for the birds, bees, wasps, and butterflies!
Your video inspired me to make a hummingbird fountain for myself. I love the result and wish I was able to post a picture of it so you can see what you inspired!
I'm from Alabama, and the hummingbirds have started coming in. I've already made one fountain you've made, and mine turned out awesome. The only thing I couldn't find a solar pump locally, so I bought an electric and ordered 2 solar ones. They should be here in a couple days
Watched your video and made a version of the fountain with five gallon bucket and lid. The hummingbirds come all day it has bought so much enjoyment too me……..thank you for sharing!
Robbie,....I did it.....it’s amazing......no hummingbirds yet, but they are at the feeders...so I know they will figure it out soon enough.....thank you soooo much for all your inspirations ❤️🇨🇦
I think I need one or two of these too....so precious to see them bathing. Going to look for links to these, thank Robbie, yes Happy Mother's Day to ya too.
I wish you luck, now if the ball doesn’t work out I have another method coming out soon, hopefully soon, and we can still use that ball no matter what, good luck have fun the birds love it 😊
That is amazing because you make it so easy and with materials that are easily available to anyone. I have been planning to make one for some time. Most plans I have found are so expensive I was considering buying one instead. I will make one like yours soon. I just have to find a place to site it so my neighbors cats don't kill the birds. Somewhere shaded to keep the water cool but with access to sun for the solar collector and where I can watch the birds.
Just recently found your videos & I truly enjoy & appreciate them! What is it about hummingbirds that create so much joy? 😊 Like you they are so pleasing to watch for me, as well! Your videos are not pretentious or prideful. They are common sense suggestions with helpful & inexpensive ways to create & use ! Thank you! Stay safe!
I absolutely love your videos on how to make hummingbird bird baths! I'm in Michigan so I will have to wait until spring to put some up l can't wait! I have a bird bath that l want to use with the upside down plastic cup and solar water pump in. I have the perfect spot in my yard for it. With lots of sun and flowers. I look forward to seeing more of your videos! Have a wonderful day!
How do you know all this stuff???? Have watched several of your videos and marvel how you have the time to devote to all this. I am so busy with trying to keep a job and chasing a paycheck. I wish I could take the time to do all these things that you do. You and people like you who make birdhouses, set out feeders make gardens amaze me.
I just saw a female Hooded Oriole in my yard the other day and I hope to attract more. Also sounds like a good idea to help out all of hummingbirds in my yard too.
I absolutely 💯 love your ideas for the hummer bird bath. I ordered a solar pump today and can hardly wait to try it out. I thought at first I would try out the red cup one with the straw but... now I like the Styrofoam ball one. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with a half dozen of them. Thank you for your videos. Much appreciated. I do love the little hummers that I have.
