This is the first in the 3 part series of how to take care of your eyelash extensions. This video discusses what products to use and avoid to make your eyelash extensions last longer and avoid the eyelash extensions from sticking together.

For example, to keep your eyelash extensions lasting longer:
-Avoid using the mascara wand (spoolie) and instead use this to keep dust, lint, dirt, and moisture off the lashes:
- **Be careful- most "oil free" eye make up removers are not really oil free. If you feel an oily residue, then you may consider this eye make up remover:
-Avoid using eyeliner pencils -use this instead :
-To keep your natural oils from getting onto your eyelash extensions, do this trick.
-Avoid using a cream based cleanser, use a gel based cleanser for your face.

We have some clients who wear goggles in the shower and they swear that their lashes last longer. One was 8 weeks before she came in for a fill and the other was 11 weeks (both were mink). What are your tips and tricks?

I have never had eyelash extensions but my daughter is literally about to go and get her's done tomorrow so the shower tip is something I will absolutely be sharing with her.

Yes. Many women love the convenience of NOT having to curl them and even if they don't wear make up, they still look "put together".

I wish I could wear them, but I use Coconut oil to wash my face twice a day. The last time I check they told me no that would be bad and cause the eyelashes to fall out/off.

Yes. IF you use any type of oil as a cleansing oil, this will NOT help eyelash extensions stay on.

I like my eyelash extensions to look fairly natural for everyday wear. On the rare occasion that I do go out I like something more dramatic. Could anyone recommend how I could jazz up my short thin natural looking extensions for a night out? Then go back to having something more professional looking for Monday morning without several time consuming expensive visits to the salon?

Can you shower but not wash your face??? I am too oily to not shower for two days. My back and chest will even get oily.

They are safe if you go to an experienced lash artist. Don't skimp and go to a place just because of the price. If you have naturally long lashes, then I would just apply mascara. Try the eyelash extensions for a special occasion and if you like them, then you can do it again!

Wow! I have been considering getting lashes so this was so informative. I had no idea it was so much maintenance! I love my eye creams, serums, and oils for my face so I don’t know if I’m willing to give those up. Is it the same for a lash lift?

yes. Unfortunately, the more moisture, oil you add onto your lashes, or hair, the less time the service lasts. : (

I think mascara is lower in maintenance but I think a lot of ladies love the convenience of just getting up and not having to curl their lashes and they are ready to go!

I had an eyelash extension before and it only lasts for 3-4 weeks. The technician advised me to stop it for a while because my natural lashes are falling out.

How do you remove mascara from lash extensions ?

Most Mascara tends to cling onto eyelash extensions. This mascara specifically is formulated to dissolve quickly and is safe for eyelash extensions. bit.ly/eyelashextensionmascara . Regular mascara tends to clump easy on eyelash extensions. Do not use tissue or cotton balls. Get the cheaper qtips that don't have much cotton on them (you can get them at the dollar store) . Avoid the Qtips brand. They tend to leave too much fuzz on the lashes! Thank you so much for watching!

I do my own extensions I need help! They only last two days I don’t know if I’m using the wrong glue or what but I do wait for 24 hours before put water or oil on my face. Please text back

Hi Esther, if you are using professional grade glue, it would be near impossible to do it on yourself since the fumes of the glue would be so strong, your eyes would water constantly be tearing up. It sounds like you are NOT using professional grade glue.

Yes. You can resume your normal routine after 24 hours but clients noticed that lashes fell out sooner than the 48 hour curing time.

What about face primer?

Face primer is ok as long as it is not applied around the eyes. Check to look at ingredients for oil based ingredients including petroleum. Concealer is more of a concern or eye shadow primer is not recommended.

I am planning on getting Eyelash extensions next week for an upcoming cruise, should I get them knowing I will be swimming? I could use eye goggles but is it okay to get them wet?

Hi Jelena, thank you for watching my video! You can get eyelash extensions but just know they may not last as long if you are getting them wet more often. : ) Also if you are planning to go somewhere where there is more humidity, this doesn't help either. You may want to try them out so you don't have to worry about wearing mascara.
