Here's the laptop I'm currently using! Got a few questions about it so I'm pinning it here for anyone who's interested :) - www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-15-6-oled-laptop-intel-core-i9-13900h-nvidia-rtx3050-6gb-with-16gb-memory-1tb-ssd-black/6534578.p?skuId=6534578
What I have worked out is to not manually Animating the camera. When I do a "handhelt Shot" Video, I actually take my phone and record how I walk with it. Then I put that video into blender and motion track the video. And then I have the most acurate camera shake.
You want to level up another step? I’ve started using VirtuCamera and it’s insanely cool. Turns your phone into a camera and you can walk around your scene exactly how you want. It’s amazing.
A neat little trick for walk animation is - there is a navigation method under view>navigation>walk navigation. Once you are in it you can control the navigation like unreal engine or any fps game. And on top if you press tab key when in navigation it enables gravity the player would always stick to the ground below. Under preference you can set the player height. When recording navigation just hit record and walk around as you like, once done stop recording then on top you can always refine it with noise and graph editor.
@@BlankFaceStudiosArt that's actually a really good method for this purpose, you'll just need to clean up the keyframes a bit, parametrically, but it's everything very fast and effective, I can confirm you that! :) There's a bunch of good tutorials here on RU-vid about this, one especially with a walk around a car which covers all the steps!
or an easier way of stopping the noise is by going to restrict frame range and then if you want it to start again just add a new noise and restrict the frame range to start again at the point you want it edit: also instead of rendering a full video, you should render an image sequence and bring into blenders video editing section and convert that to an image sequence that way if it crashes you can re render from the point it crashed
@@burnsius Was just gonna say -can't you put the noise on an animation layer and key the layer on/off and percentage wise to get more and less noise if you want to?
It's even in EEVEE which makes it all the better. I don't have the time (or GPU computing power) to wait for a full animation to render out in cycles. Thanks for the inspiration!
9:38 You can select all the faces with A, hit U, and use cube project to project the faces evenly to avoid the uneven textures. Then you can just select faces and scale them in the UV editor.
BTW to avoid the UV unwrap headache you can just use the node Wrangler (Control T) and in the Texture Coordinate node switch from UV to "Generated" or "Object" by doing so, you can have a seamless texture accross the entire model.
I wish this video was made back when I was trying to learn to do the found footage style in Blender, It's crazy how you simplified the whole process that had me pulling my hair. Really great tutorial.
I love this! So cool. I'm working/repped writer and I've never really wanted to do physical filming, but I used to be an art director on The Walking Dead and I could see myself using this sort of workflow to make proof of concept. Thanks for sharing!
@@BlankFaceStudiosArt Thanks bro, but about the animation... The Backrooms animations aren't really for me, so now I'm just making Spider-Man animations🕸️😎🕷️
WOW! This is exactly what I was looking for to get started! Thank you so much for creating this walkthrough and sharing all the information and downloads!
i use an addon called camera shakify for the camera shake. it had a selection of different camera shakes, and its completely free, and its the addon i use the most. you just select the camera shake you want and then thats all you have to do.
Kudos for taking the time to share your expertise and guide others in their learning journey. However, I'd like to pitch in some unsolicited feedback. Here are a few giveaways that caught my eye, indicating the possibility of the footage being fabricated: - Repetitive textures, notably in the pillars. - Impeccable shapes, like the flawlessly cut rectangular hallways. A touch of irregularity in the bricks would add authenticity. - The flashlight's light forming a perfect circle with a seamless gradient and evenly distributed lighting. - Movement synchronized with light, especially evident at 0:42. Typically, people first shift their gaze with their eyes, followed by a delayed movement of the head and flashlight. - Lack of echo, which is often present in environments with stone surfaces that reflect sound waves. - Peculiar floor texture, especially at 0:45, resembling a somewhat cartoonish appearance, as if post-processed with a posterization effect. - At 0:27, the brick wall texture on one plane contrasts sharply with a different stone texture on the adjacent plane. - At 0:37, a support structure seemingly penetrates into a pillar. Construction workers would install it immediately before or after the pillar instead of cutting it, unless there is a reason to do otherwise. - At 0:40, the inner brick wall texture rotated by about 25° aligns with the outer brick wall texture, a repeating texture. For those also learning how to make found footage, here are a few nuggets of advice: - Reference images are your friend. - Prioritize audio quality over video; a video with subpar visuals but stellar audio is leaps and bounds ahead. - Personally explore locations, capture visuals, record ambient sounds - immerse yourself to replicate a more genuine experience. - Break problems down into smaller pieces. Nobody makes tutorials for everything. It's surprising that anybody made a tutorial specifically for found footage.
Amazing tutorial! What I find to be the best way of getting a realistic camera move is to actually record a real video in a place where you can walk around -and then make a quick 3d camera track of it. Then you can always put an animation layer on the camera and key it however you desire :)
Yeah many others have agreed with you. Mainly I chose not to since I’ve never tried it before, and I felt that would be more daunting and less beginner friendly for the tutorial’s sake. It’s definitely a technique I want to try out though! :)
I had a try at this a while ago, but had the same problem as you: it looks like a video game. Not sure what it is, but it just doesn't look real. Kanepixels nailed it.
Yeah I definitely think it has to do with the camera. The noise does a good job, but Kane motion tracks his camera so it looks like it’s actually handheld, I think that’s what really sells it for him
@@BlankFaceStudiosArtI’ve commented this before, but I really want you to see it because it’s a life saver. Use Camera Shakify. You can adjust the amount of shake with key frames with a simple slider, and there are SO MANY different types of camera shake types in it.
This great work not only explain the way to make such backrooms videos, but also taught us how to make them! People can learn a lot form this and they can make their own dream come true! Thanks a lot!
TYSM im trying to complete my "schoolrooms" found footage series but i haven't gotten a filming opportunity in a while so i made a 3D model of the school and i needed to make the camera walk but i didnt know how untill i watched your video♥️
That's awesome!! I'm glad the video was able to help you, I just looked at your channel and the quality of your footage videos looks insane! Seriously awesome work, I can't wait to go in and watch them all when I get some free time :)
The thing about the camera shake idea you told everybody, i now realized this:I don't need the camera shakifier since i got a better way cause of this youtuber, Thank you! by the way I subscribed cause of this tutorial.
@@BlankFaceStudiosArt but there is actually a way to Restrict Frame Range of modifiers, at the bottom of modifier there is option Restrict Frame Range and you an put start frame and end frame, and then add another noise modifier and add another restrictions regarding frames.
@@BlankFaceStudiosArt again me sorry but, i'm playing with that right now and you can even set bleed in or out from 0 to 100 frames so the camera movement is a little bit softer, just not stops immediately the noise texture.
Cool! Yeah quite a few people now have told me I can restrict the modifiers, but I didn't know about the bleed-ins. That's awesome, thank you for sharing that with me!@@fableorb
amazing tutorial! have you ever tried using the walkthrough mode to animate the camera live w the wasd buttons? I've seen other creators do it here, wonder if that could be an easier workflow or if you lose too much control. Thank you!
I'm really enjoying this, but, I have no idea how you did the inset to the faces like that, mine goes horizontal, yours seems to go vertical, without rotation. Am I doing something wrong?
thank you my good sir but is there a better way of stopping the noise aside from adding a new camera i watched the part many times but still didnt understand it
As a person who's trying to learn Blender, I understand everything that is said in the video, but lack the navigational skills to find the settings and properties in it.
It’s not meant entirely for beginners, it’s a big project, if I hadn’t used Timelapse the video would have to be near an hour long. It’s expected that you have the basic blender knowledge going into it, since the videos main purpose is just to show you how to do things like the camera animation and effects. I do plan on extending future tutorials though just so I can slow them down a bit and explain more.
Sure, I linked my laptop in the pinned comment on this video :) It's a tad pricey right now but I was able to get it on sale for only $900 so definitely wait for a sale if you can!
@@BlankFaceStudiosArt Alr tysm! You’re definitely a good RU-vidr since you replied fast enough! This shows you care about your viewers ♥️ Hopefully your channel blows up cuz u deserve that!
This is so cool! I'm making my camera movements and buildings for now, and I'll be noting down the things I will learn here! Thanks so much, I will make my own horror analog films from now! 🥰🤍 Thanks for this toturial it helps!
I love how your helping and teaching people, my only issue is my laptop was at 100% volume and still could not hear very much. I don't think I'm going deaf, just think you talk a little too soft. Not tryna be rude, js.
That is great feedback, thank you! Yeah in my editing program I put the audio to the level just before it started peaking and going red, but that may be inaccurate. I’ll look into it and ask others if the audio is too low.
That’s cool but I was so confused by the found footage cause in movie making found footage is just random clips that weren’t self made but rather found somewhere
hey, thats so nice to see, thanaks a lot aand its very helpfull!!! I have a question if you can do a video about blender x Minecraft (but modded). I know there are lots of stuff out there about minecraft and Blender, but its all default minecraft, is there a solution how to import like models and textures from mods into blender? For example not a regual Zombie from minecraft, instead a modded one from a mod?
Why do I press "I" and the menu like the video doesn't appear? I use version 4.1 and instead of the camera shaking vertically, my camera shakes horizontally
In the noise modifier, at the bottom there is a section that’s labeled “restrict keyframes”. If you select that, you can tell it when to start and stop affecting the camera :)
Hi, I just start with your video and so far you got me hooked. I have a small critique and a possible solution that you work… maybe. I personally found the random noise movement still a tiny bit too artificial (I have watched the intro one time, so this is just the first impression). I ask myself, if it could get even better results when you bind the camera to a motion capture walk cycle (from Mixamo for example). This would give the steps of the walk a natural look and a random noise on top helps to make it less monotonous. Just a thought, but maybe a thing to test?! The rest: great video so far and you got a new subscriber. 😅 Chris
That’s definitely an interesting technique, I’ll have to give that a try. If you’re also looking for more alternatives to doing the camera movements, there’s been a few other replies in this comment section that give some other really cool ideas!
I'm so confused, like everything else is fine but my camera just isn't working, how do I make it face straight forward like yours without it resetting itself to look down when I press play:/ EDIT:NVM I FIXED IT, I'm so dumb 😭I'm new to blender so like yeah, but I fixed it 😭
can someone tell me how to use the cloud displace modifier? Because im confused on how he does it and the snake hook doesnt work for me that well either too
hey i've used blender for over a day already and something i can't fix is the fact that when rendering bloom, when the light object is out of the field of view the bloom instantly disappears. any idea in how can i fix this?
That's interesting, yeah I just went in and tried it for myself and I couldn't replicate your issue. Maybe your bloom "threshold" setting is too high or your light isn't bright enough? Sorry I can't be of much help.
@@BlankFaceStudiosArt hey! i just thought it was maybe because i rendered png files for each frame, and not a video file. i'll try doing a video file and i'll tell you what happened
