I Thank you Eva, with Harper by your side, for showing us how to make them and be creative with our toppings! 🙌 Like the King’s son, I can only eat a bread’s crust but furthermore, I would need the Grissini to be Gluten-free and you say not to use other flours 😰. Since I have not choice, I’m wondering which other flours you tried but certainly: which would you recommend best and which to avoid for your flour based recipes. Grazie mille per tutto questo!

The beauty of this channel is that, even if it's aimed to non-italians, it's perfectly enjoyable by us, inhabitants of the Boot. Being entertained by the extreme italianness and "calabresity"" of Eva aside, she is always able to teach me something new, may it be a new dish that was lost in the big tangle of italian regionalism or techniques, that she portrays with such genuine manner. Of course, Harper's wonder, curiosity and will to learn make this show too, alongside his humor: you make a great duo. Big hugs to what became one of my favourite among all cooking channels! A fan from Rome.

I've been hoping for a trip to Olive Garden with Eva. I don't understand why anyone in my town goes there when we have real Italian food. Even the worst authentic Italian restaurant is better than Olive Garden. Same with Papa John's pizza, it's straight trash. I don't say anything bad about the local franchise because the owner is super nice, but compared to NY Italian pizza it's world's apart.

I met with family at Olive garden because they knew my wife was Italian and wanted her to feel at home. She saw the menu and didn't recognize anything on the menu except "scampi" and so she got that. She thinks we use *way* too much garlic in our "Americanized" Italian. I mean, she's not wrong. :)

!/2 of my Itaian ancestors are from Piemonte, the Italian province wherein lies Torino. When we had big family holiday gatherings, there were always "Grising" at the table, even the separate small table for us little ones. We loved them not only because they were crunchy and delicious, especially when wrapped with a slice of Mortadella or prosciutto, but also because we could karate-chop them and they would break off pieces, flying across the table and wacking into each other. A nice change from flipping olives at each other. Our folks never seemed to understand how fun this was, reminding us how lucky we were not to be starving like the poor kids in some distant foreign land.

I have always been someone that wears their “heart on their sleeve“ and says everything on my mind with barely a filter. This is because I am French and Italian with my ancestry as an American, and I am absolutely positive that is the case (neither peoples are shy about opinions and feelings!). Eva doesn’t like me because of it (with my calling out a comment of hers that rubbed me the wrong way), but I’m sure she has to be used to people speaking their mind with her heritage lol.

Ciao Eva! I grissini sono originari di Lanzo, un paese fuori Torino, dove abito! Si può pure trovare una placca che celebra i grissini e la sua storia nel luogo in cui sono nati! Bellissimo video, grazie mille ❤️

Thank you, and Harper, I really do like you, despsie my occasionally caustic comments. You know, I studied with Marcella Hazan, though she made me ceu on occasion, she taught mr to RESPECT Italian food.

I must admit that in my laziness, I’ve sometimes made grissini from leftover storebought pizzadough (which I don’t use for pizza, but for small «pies» filled with spinach etc) when I don’t have energy etc to make homemade dough… Not too bad, at least much better than factory/machine made grissini. Oh, BTW: PS! You said : «Breadsticks?» (as in what is plural) Of course it is «breadsticks». The Italian American grammar can’t possibly be «one breadsticko», «many breadsticki», can it? ☺️🤓😉👏👏👏☺️🤗

I always make some bread sticks to go with hearty soup during the colder months. When I was in Italy, some people wrap a piece of prosciutto around the stick.

I've made these probably 10 times already. I make them little thinner, I get about 50 bread sticks. Everyone who tries them can't get enough. One suggestion - don't cut up the entire dough all at once. By the time you get to the 20th bread stick, the dough has risen some and the cuts are gone. I cut 1-2 bread sticks at a time. It works great. Also, I fill one tray, let it bake and in the 18-20 minutes it takes to bake, I have the other tray ready. Question - how would you make these with sourdough? I have a nephew who can't eat regular bread but loves sourdough. Your comment would be greatly appreciated.

At my Local Olive Garden my goto is the Five Cheese Ziti al Forno. I ask them to add Gorgonzola Cheese. Soo many flavors mixed together. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Eva, I have a serious question. In Italy if you have celiacs disease or gluten intolerance(which isnt as common as it is in the U.S.) how do people accommodate that in restaurants or at home with traditional authentic Italian foods that call for pasta and bread? Thank you in advance, I hope you don't think this a stupid question. 😞 Don't go to Olive Garden its TERRBLE! You will be angry at Harper for a long time. 🙄😂

I’ve had the opportunity to go to Ireland, Scotland, England, Greece, and Belize…. What you find is that in America they have ruined our food, our ancestors came from all over and yet soo many traditional foods and recipes have been ‘lost’, I love to cook and bake at home, if I was better at it I’d love to open a classic pastry shop in America, where you can buy fresh bread that doesn’t have red dye 40 in it or bromine, where you can buy fresh baklava(which I do know how to make), not only has our food been bastardized but our ingredients are subpar😞 clotted cream is a norm in the UK, here it’s $8 for like 3 ounces, our olive oils are cut with rapeseed oil😞 I love channels like this, I hope we Americans will get back into the kitchen and learn to cook for our families, start a food revolution! Oh, in England their box Mac and cheese is all natural, the labeling laws over their would require them to state that the synthetic colors cause behavioral problems in children and can cause cancer so they remade it, and it tastes the same! We are being poisoned😞

I won’t pretend to be a cook that is anything close to Eva’s cooking. But, before Eva came to the US, I was considered a very good cook. I made my own pasta and would fill ravioli with the kinds of things that I kept in my house, but not necessarily the things one might find in Italy. It worked for us and was very much enjoyed by our friends. I would hear people bragging that they had dinner at my house. But, like I said, my cooking would not/did not/does not hold a candle to Eva’s cooking and the food she creates. I don’t know this but I suspect that you have friends who live close by. Or you have neighbors who are friends. You have had a dinner party or two, surely! How do people react to Eva’s cooking? Do they brag to others about being one of the chosen few? Do they avoid having you over for dinner at their place, fearing that they could not create a meal close to what Eva could do? Or do they compete and frequently up the ante, trying to impress Eva with their creations? What types of foods, if any, does Eva enjoy having near you that is something other than Italian? Or Eva’s REAL Italian? Did you take her to Olive Garden? Is there an Italian place in the US that she likes? Great video! Did you cook before Eva? You are becoming increasingly more competent in the kitchen! I am impressed!
