How to make homemade paint with old crayons for the kids to play!

But if you are up for doing it yourself:
Instead of throwing away those old crayons which is to short for the kids to use, you can recycle them and add them to homemade paint to create some color.
Homemade paint is great for little kids, it's inexpensive and easy to make.
All you need is flour, water, salt. You can either use food coloring to make different colors or do what I did. I used my kids old colors that they find short for use, melted it and made different paint colors.

i did this paint, but i've never screwed up as bad before. the paint succeded, but i aaccidentaly poured the salt in the flour container instead of my mix D:> i hope my parents wont notice

:/ Well if you can notice it when you take a small taste....they will too. Best to tell them, so they can just add more flour which will make it less salty for when they need flour for recipes. I'm sure they will be less angry if you come forward than they would be if you hide it from them. GOOD LUCK!

Hi! Just a heads up.. Not so sure if this is a permanent solution for painting a wall. But if you are talking about a small area, I guess you can try. Still not sure how long it will last.

Depends what you have around your home? Think recyclable materials, Tins, jars, plastic... I used yogurt/dessert plastic containers and just covered the tops with foil afterward.

"Acrylic paint is a fast-drying paint made of pigment suspended in acrylic polymer emulsion. Acrylic paints are water-soluble, but become water-resistant when dry." This is home made-flour based paint, for paper. But if you use it on glass or something, make sure to cover it with a protected varnish clear coat.

1 Cups of water, a cup of flour and a half cup of salt.......The quantity of salt is not that important. When you mix the ingredients together, you should get a smooth paste. For the colors, you can use melted crayons. Melt the crayons in the sun, use a hairdryer, hot water or microwave...whichever works best for you. You can also use food coloring instead of crayons.

It works! Crayons are made of paraffin wax. If you put it in HOT water it will melt. At least it did for me.

Half a cup of water, half cup flour, half cup salt. Start with a half cup of flour. The salt does not even have to be so much (I have made it without salt - not difference). Add water bit by bit to get a smooth paste, stop adding water when it gets to the thickness you prefer, otherwise add all for runny paint. The color at the end - melted crayons or food coloring.
