Thanks for the great video, Jen! A couple of comments -- using filtered water is best because the chlorine in most municipal water systems is bad. I love your idea of using lemon for acid instead of ACV to help draw out the minerals from the bones! I might try that to see the different flavor. Also, as far as freezing in glass jars, Ball has come out to say that doing it in regular mouth jars is dangerous because of the cracking. That narrowed shoulder doesn't allow for expansion the same way as a wide mouth jar. Knowing the larger jars are harder to find in a wide mouth variety, another tip to freezing would be to not tighten up the ring more than allowing it the lid to stay in place. Freezing (thus allowing a little extra release of the vacuum as the liquid expands, and coming back to tighten the ring completely after fully frozen. Might also help with the chance of jar breakage! I do broth in my slow cooker a lot, too! Thanks again for the great video!

Looks awesome! My husband is a butcher so we can get bones at pretty good price. We like to roast our chicken bones first, and it makes the end product almost like liquid fried chicken!

I have been waiting for this! I have chicken in the freezer right now. But I didn't even think about using the Rotisserie bones. Duh! I wasn't sure on the veggies either. So I can't wait to stock up on this and make my own. It looks so easy! Thank you so much! ❤

I love, love my InstantPot. I have the 6qt but it's just myself and my daughter so it's perfect for us. A friends grandma has a 3qt which I though it was tiny, but she is a single elderly lady and it's perfect for her. LOVE IT. I really want the InstantPot Vortex. We make lots of bone broth, too and its so good and healthy, plus delicious! We do two runs of it. The first batch is thicker but both batches delicious. We also add a splash of apple cider vinegar because it pulls the collagen out from the bones that's so healthy. Yum! Watching this video makes me want to heat up a cup of it to just drink. It's so comforting and healing when not feeling well.

you should have staggered the release so it wouldn’t make a mess. you should add the carrots to Murphy’s dinner bowl. He needs fiber and veggies are the best for that. I give my dogs 1/4-1/2 cup of veggies in every dinner.

@Rhiahl My brother in Alaska got a good deal on turkeys at Thanksgiving so cooked two of them. One went on the porch to cool during dinner. When they went out to get it, it was gone. Animal tracks leading up to the porch and back down again. Great Thanksgiving meal for some critters out there!!

I find popping a hand full of ice cubes in when the stock is cooling removes most of the fat, the fat sticks and cumps to the ice cubes immediately, they don't have a chance to melt it anything like that 😊

Great video! I’ve never had the beef bones to make beef stock but I do make chicken bone broth in the instant pot! I am going to add some of your herbs that I don’t use, great idea! My instant pot goes up to 4 hours maximum so that’s how long I do my chicken bone broth for. ( adding just a bit of apple cider vinegar to it to get all the goodness out of the bones. Thanks for your video! I need to get some beef bones and give it a try!

Great video. The last time I made chicken stock in my instant pot I cooked it for three hours. It was a lot thicker and jelly like when it cooled. I think that means I got more of the nutrients from the bones. I’ve also done it for an hour and it was delicious!

Hi Christine, I would really appreciate if you can share your secrets and what setting do you use to make a gelatinous broth from chicken, meat bones or old stewing hens or roosters. In my pressure cooker no problem but in my instant pot I never get a gelatinous broth and tender stewing hens, no matter what setting I try. I’m desperate. Thank you very much for your valuable time and help

Another great video Jen! I have been wanting to make my own in the instant pot as well. I was wondering if you have ever cooked the stock an additional 60 minutes? I think I might try it that way but wanted to ask your opinion. I have gotten behind a little on some of your videos but you are definitely one of my favorites to watch. You are doing a wonderful job on all your videos and I learn so many things from you. You are just someone I really admire. Thank you for all you do! If you want a richer tasting stock you can brown the bones in the oven for an hour first before adding to your stock pot. I cook them at 350 for an hour, turning every 15 mins.

Nice!! I love making stock but usually make less than 5 jars. However am considering getting an Instant Pot Duo because of increased functionality as well as the larger size (did I mention I like to cook and share since it's just me here? LOL!) I also like home made stock vs that from the stores, because who knows if the food manufacturing lines are cleaned properly and other potential... issues! I worked in a business where the line cleaning products were made (in the regulatory/quality area), so yah - gotta clean those lines and rinse all the stuff away! Anyway thanks again for a great video!

The CrockPot Express is a multicooker/pressure cooker -- I love mine! I started out with a 6-qt. Cuisinart pressure cooker, which I like and use frequently, but wanted an 8-qt. and Cuisinart doesn't make that size. Consumer Reports did a good article comparing the 8-qt. InstantPot and the CPExpress -- I went with CrockPot's pressure cooker for that reason. Price-wise it's less expensive than the InstantPot, came to pressure faster in their tests, and has the 'yogurt' preset, which my Cuisinart model didn't have and I wanted. Sold me! It works fantastic and has a manual adjustment option, which is a little more finicky on CP's smaller models. (I believe with the CP 6-qt. if you want to adjust the time, you have to use the 'bean' preset -- otherwise you're stuck with whatever is programmed in.) Around the holidays last year, the 8-qt. CrockPot Express in my area was priced at $80! 🤗🤗🤗
